Going the last week of July. Flying out on the 26th, flying home on the 30th. Any tips on good deals? Or someone who can point me in the right direction? There is going to be a bunch of us. Probably between 6-10 of us.

the only "tip" I can give is to make sure you buy your airplane tickets and hotel rooms straight from the airline and hotels. Every travel horror story starts with - "so I bought my tickets from expedia/hotwire/priceline/travelocity and they..."

Since they de-regulated the airlines, it's hard to get any 'junkets'. Add that to the merger of some airlines, and there is WAY less competition.

If you don't get a good room rate calling the Hotels direct,................hotels.com has very good rates.

That time of year you should be able to choose from very good hotel rates.

Keep in mind it will be very hot in Vegas so walking from hotel to hotel may not be an option.

With a group that big you will probably want to be on the strip but, also check out a few of the off-strip options as most have transportation to the strip if you need it.

Check a hotel rate on line and then call the hotel, indicate you want 3-4 rooms and ask what they can do for you. Rooms are plentiful in late July.

With having so many people, we're trying to find the best rates, but we also want to stay in a quality hotel. Also, I should note that I think we we do want to stay as close to the strip as possible. For everyone but 2, this is most of our first time. Going for someones birthday.

Excalibur seems to be the front runner so far he told me. I just recently started doing some searching myself. Someone else was doing most of that. Knowing a lot of you guys on here go there frequently, I figured I'd try to use this medium.

We're looking to group people in 2s for each room.

Thanks guys, keep it coming!

I wouldn't call Excalibur a quality hotel. And its way at the end of the strip. If you stay down there get a deal at Mandalay Bay. In the middle of strip check out Mirage. You can usually get great deals there.

Ok, that's just the info that the guy who was doing the looking gave me. Never been there. Have any names of the hotels that are in the middle of the strip and not a big hike/cab ride up?

I like Ballys. It's relatively cheap, right in the middle of the strip, with Paris ajoined to it, and Paris is a nice casino to hang out at. It's also across from Billagio and Caesars. The rooms usually have good views. Excalibur has become a poor man's host and not where I'd stay for my first trip there. Definitely better atmosphere at Ballys and the group of hotels surrounding it.

Agreed! Bally's for low-cost, great location.

Check Monte Carlo too. Usually prices decent.

going to check those both out. thanks Nole

We're tying to get a hotel/flight packaged together and not have to buy each seperate. Could be a headache trying to do it all seperate with having at least 8 people.

sorry bud I disagree with you here ... I have been using HotWire for 6 years now and could not be more happy ... sure I do not get the bonus points but the $$$ I save my company keeps me in good graces especially when I like to eat at nice restaurants and have a few beverages ... got Trump Tower in Vegas, a 5* for $79 via HotWire ... and never had a problem with airlines either

but to each their own and a lot of benefits using the frequent preferred programs too
