Rio Casino changed ownership a few years back, but not the name.
It has a nice sportsbook featuring the Harrah's line (same one you find at Caesar's, Paris, Bally's and few others)
across Flamingo Blvd is The Palms Casino, which has an independent sportsbook with quite different lines.
Next to the Rio, across Valley View St., is the Gold Coast Casino, which has a small sportsbook sporting even more different lines that are favorites with locals.
Hence, the Rio is the second best location in town to shop lines (downtown is the best)--tho these are not the best sportsbooks to view games.

Just saw this thread, Jack. Just returned from a 4 day trip to Vegas with the wife. Played some poker at the Venetian and Caesars.
I finished chip leader in the Caesars daily noon tourney, but we chopped with 3 guys left.

Are you sure you can make it considering this is might not be enough notice or that it might be too hot in June or that there might not enough people going closer to your age group or that there is no sponsor for this trip or . . . . . . . ?
my friend & his brother-in-law are playing in the tournament at the rio & was thinking of driving up to vegas to root them on....not sure though because maybe heading to canada in the beginning of july to celebrate quebec's 400th anniverary.so maybe i'll see you guys there.
wsop starts may 30th and runs until around mid july with over 50 individual tournaments.

i doubt it but i'll post the links for following when they have a definite site doing the job this year. there will probably be several.
Well just changed my reservations to The Rio for Jun 18th thru Jun 25th. It's much more convenient staying here.
Plan on playing in 2 events right now.
Event 36 and Event 42.

i finally took care of this and am staying at the rio the whole 6 nights.
anybody else going to be out there?
the wife just bought 2 tickets for my birthday to see bette midler on 6/24...
so we will be at the wynn hotel (great deal) from 6/22-6/26....
