Lets go with the hat bet.. It's only what $25... Just one bet though., It's going to kill me me to buy a Dallas hat but its better than the Avatar.. I lost to you last year but I have more than made up for it.. I still have 2 people who have ignored my emails for the NFC north bets I won.. PS you could of won last week if you would of gave me the Eagles and the points.

I agree that the Vikings got a good chance of winning this game, regardless of how well Dallas has been playing. I hate to say it, but as much as I am rooting for Minny this year, I think the winner of the Ariz./N.O. game will be going to the Superbowl...

Confirmed. I'll take the bet and the 2.5 points just to make it fair :D

I'm not sure why people are completely disregarding the Panthers as an opponent late in the season. That team was as good, if not better, than any team in the league in the last few games. That being said...

I think this will be a good game, but I would not be surprised to see either team win handily. While I think the Vikings will come out on top at home (which will be a significant advantage), I am concerned about the pass defense and what Favre might do if the Vikes would get behind early. There's no way he'll go down without a fight, and that could result in a forced pass or two. If the Vikes get down early, I think it will be problematic, as some of the personality issues might get in the way of a comeback game plan.

By the same token, if the Vikes get on top early, or are in the game all the way, I do think the crowd noise will be a factor as far as Romo is concerned. If the game is close, the Vikes have a huge advantage at kicker.

For me, the two key players are the QB's, and how they both respond to negative scenarios if they are faced with them. I don't think the Cowboys will have a lot of success running the football, but I also don't think they'll make it a priority, nor should they (IMO). I think Harvin is a huge weapon in this matchup, and Favre will use him to offset the pass rush, as he will with Taylor and Shiancoe. But I do respect the Cowboys defense, and what they have looked like of late.

I would take Favre over Romo in this scenario at home, but respect Romo of late. I think the RB situation favors the Vikings, mainly due to the Vikes rush defense against the Cowboys. I think the receivers are pretty close if Williams shows up at all, but I do not consider Austin to be better than Rice, and I think Harvin is a more impactful player than Crayton. TE slightly favors the Cowboys, although Favre sure has used Shiancoe plenty in tough games, and he has responded.

Dallas has a substantial edge in the offensive line, and that may help them run the ball some. It will help Romo, too. It will have to, or they will have to keep extra help in to block Allen and Co. (most have been lately), which may affect their passing game plan and routes in a negative way.

Defensive line edge goes to the Vikings. Linebacker advantage goes to the Cowboys ONLY because of the rookie in the middle. I rate Greenway and Leber very highly, otherwise, but have to be realistic. The middle will be very important against the Cowboy offense. Defensive backs advantage goes to the Cowboys by a solid margin, I think. I don't care for the way the Vikes cover people, and think they will give up their usual problem plays.

Other than one game (as I recall), the Vikes special teams have been very good. Kicker and punter are very good, coverage teams are good, and the return games are good. Honestly have not seen the Cowboys return and coverage teams enough to rate them personally. Harvin is a threat, and Longwell is a huge advantage in a game like this.

Point spread leans slightly to the Cowboys, which makes sense to me the way things have played out. I would not bet this game, personally, as I think luck and turnovers will make the difference. If I was going to bet it, I would bet the Vikings, as I think home field is an advantage here. They are 8-0 at home for a reason, and the place will be absolutely on fire this Sunday. I think the Vikings are in a very good mental and physical state right now, and think they will win the game.

Ok, Here is a "realistic" take on this game from a "Dallas Homer".

QB- No doubt the edge goes to Favre. He was winning playoff games when Romo was dry humping his teenage girlfriend. However, heading into this game, I feel Romo is playing as well as any Qb in the league with the exception of P. Manning.

*Slight edge to Minn

RB- A.P. is a STUD. Best in the business. However, the 3 headed monster in Dallas will catch defenses off guard. I don't think you can go back during these playoffs and find a team running for as many big plays as Dallas.. Chester Talyor has become almost an afterthought, so it's all on A.P.
Choice is a playmaker.

*even

TE- Not even close. Whitten gets as many looks as any WR in this league. Favre loves to look for his TE, but Shianco just isn't in the same league,YET.

*Edge to Dallas

WR- Harvin is a missle and Rice has become dangerous since the arriaval of Brett. Not real high on Berrian. Seems like he's lost a step since leaving the Bears. Austin has opened my eyes. I've just now come around to thinking this guy is a legit NFL wideout and might very well be the best reciever on the field. Roy Williams sucks, BUT can wake up and give you a big effort on occasion. Crayton is in the same boat as Berrian.

*Slight edge to Minn

O-Line & Defense- pick one. Both run the ball well and protect and both do a fine job putting pressure on the quaterback. Allen and Ware are both monsters. You could probably filp flop the secondarys before kick off and you would get the same. Great play with moments on mental lapse allowing the big play.

*even

Special Teams- No doubt Miny gets the nod. P.Harvin is a game changer and play maker.

*Edge Minn

Coaching- again, pick one. Both very different in style, but works for the crews they have.

*even

So the way I see it, pretty even match up. Momentum on the side of Dallas, as they're playing as well as they have all season long, but the game is on the road and Miny will be rested and ready for battle.

I will say this. The winner of this game should be favored to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.

I just hope both bring their "a game" and both teams stay healthy and give us an enjoyable game to watch.

This is the only point I disagree with (even being a Dallas homer). I think Dallas has an edge here, not a slight edge but a real edge.

Seems like to me that most of the homers are being cautious and realistic, which is interesting. I think most of the judgments are fair and sensible. As Viking fans, we're conditioned for disappointment over the past few years, and I think undervalue the team at this point. This team could have advanced last year in the playoffs except for two big plays - the Westbrook play was a huge difference maker. And I KNOW this team is decidedly better in nearly every aspect from last season, with a better attitude and some real leaders.

I hope it's a good game, and neither team (other than the Cowboys, of course... :SIB ) gets off to a bad start. Would be fun to watch this one come down to the end.

I think people are underestimating the Saints at this point, and think we all might have more respect after tomorrow, when Peyton has a full two weeks to prepare, get healthier, and get a game plan together to fix some of their issues. A very entertaining four NFC teams moving forward, for sure.

I certainly hope its a good game and agree with most of the "reasonable" analysis here. We are conditioned as Vikings fans to expect the worst (I was in the stands for the 1998 Atlanta debacle).

I will be there, yelling my ass off, rooting for my HOME team.

This should be the best game of the weekend. I do like the Vikings to win only based on home field advantage. :00hour

match 'em up

match 'em up

biggest mismatch here is minny O line against dallas D line. vikings weak line will probably be the difference in the game. ratcliffe is going to eat the vikes alive. shoulda upgraded our right guard situation last year. herrera is terrible. center is below average at best. 0 run blockers. middle line backer for vikes will be exposed. plays like the rookie he is. hope i'm wrong. will our tackles do the job and get all our guys out on routes or do we have to keep two in to block? can't wait!

Can we just play the damn game already!

Can we just play the damn game already!

I'm so friggin tired of all the analysis, no offense to anyone or any side. Of course I feel the Cowboys will win, but play the damn game already so we can shut the hell up.:toast:

Minny's Oline will not hold up against Ware, Spencer, and Ratliff.

Minny's pass rush will be a non-factor against the Cowboys three step drops, receiver screens, and draw plays.

Minnesota will get overwhelmed in this game.

Dallas. Wins. By. Double Digits.

Enjoy watching Brett Favruh go back into retirement.

This is realistic
