Stating the Obvious I......VT is killing themselves.

Stating the Obvious II....we need more erin andrews

Getting back to the VT special teams.....yeah, i thought that was a nutso statement....sure GT blocked a punt against them, but has VT really been any other big spots this year where their special teams could turn a game around.......heck, it even may happen still in this game.......i hate betting against VT partly because family has attended the school, so i am a de facto fan, but mostly because you just sit around and hold your breath waiting for the Beamer Ball explosion.

The difference, as i see it, is that Glennon has yet to reach the level of play we've seen out of the Hokie QB position the couple of seasons from Randall (he was perfect in '04) to even Vick last year, who had many dynamic moments......plus they lost a lot of individual talent on D, but they are well on their way to replacing to that.

They sure have built themselves a hole here though!

i am scratchin my head how one week BC gives up 30 points to BYU/clemson and VT gives up 40 points to GT all while scoring quite a bit in each, and then they are just a defensive batlle tonight

Too many penalties and turnovers for VT......then force a fourth down, but another penalty gives BC a second chance on third down......3 third conversions on this drive......Hokies D gotta hold 'em to a FG attempt.

Hokie special teams magic?!?!? how about a block FG with a big return to spoil this student kicker story.....just a predication.

Meanwhile, here is another third attempt by the BC O....already six minutes off the clock on the drive

Hokie D has way too much confusion, they look like they have given up, its tough not to when they stop em all game only to have offense put them with their backs on their 35 every possession, and no matter what they do they get a penalty

if you listen to what he's saying, he's right. he's not saying vick is the reason. basically he's saying the team hasn't been as all-for-one since vick was there. and its hard to argue that.

Yeah, scratch that block FG prediction.....gonna take a miracle now for VT.....this will be a big win for BC.......I know NC St beat them and are undefeated in ACC play, but BC would have two big wins in their pocket in the chase for the division title and a spot in the ACC championship....still have to play FSU and Miami, though.

Too bad ESPN cant switch to CSU-AF cuz that game looks interesting all of a sudden!

Now Herbstreit is blaming Mike Vick for VT's woes....not sure i buy that theory......its just a transition year with the QB, lines and overall D personnel........what major college contender isn't stocked with players eyeing the NFL.

Regardless, they will dominate the Humanitarian Bowl.....well, so long as they're not actually playing Boise :142smilie

how is it hard to argue that? They have been ranked in the top 15 at some point in the season for like 15-20 consequetive years. Nothing has changed there. Since the NC with Vick VT went on to win the san fran bowl the next year, barely lose the insight bowl to cal, barely lose the SUGAR BOWL to auburn, which many have argued should have been in NC, and won at the gator bowl in 05.

Just look at thier record before and after Vick? Thats how you argue that, yes more players and better talent have come to VT since they are in the title hunt every year but it is the only school that has players looking towards the NFL because two players are yelling at each other after their season is being flushed?!?! OK that is very tough to argue

how many times within the last few years has virginia tech gotten out of the gate fast, dominated in OOC, dominated the first couple of BE/ACC games .... and then once they get smacked in the mouth by someone, they start to fade down the stretch? basically, they tend to oeak early in the season before sliding down in the polls toward the 'teens in the later months. gotta give herbstreit credit -- he is ripping this team a new one and, frankly, its well-deserved. btw -- i know theyre not the only team with off the field problems. but look how many guys are getting suspended before key games. happened before the tech game. now before this game.

I guess i sorta understand what Herbie is trying to say.....but has VT really been on a down cycle.....they were ACC champs in '04 and lost the ACC title game last year.....that is one win away from outright back to back conference championships..those are pretty big heights for the Hokies even with all the success they've had with Beamer.....you need to recruit players who are eying the nfl in order to do any damage in big time college football......they are young, playing a QB a year before they really wanted to and, sure, they need to develop on field leaders for this team.....should be very interesting to see which way this team goes from here this year.

But, maybe, just maybe if a Vick is at fault......it would be Marcus....just a thought.
