Dizzy...tough game with the Tide and Vols this weekend. The tide were gelling before prothro went down and i thought they would be undefeated coming into the Iron Bowl. Bama is 2-4 ats this year and has not been impressive at all with the exception of the Fla game. Their running game is what keeps them going, which in turn opens up theor offense for Brodie to work. I think TN WILL be able to contain Bama's running game for the most part.

On the flip side, TN is no better ATS sporting a 1-4 mark. To me TN has been a huge disappointment after starting the season as a top 5 team. They have had some tuff injuries most notable was Jason Allen, an alll american safety. TN also has a QB problem that is far from being solved. Bama D should be able to contain Riggs and company, making a Vol QB win the game for them. Bama fans will have the batteries cocked and ready for fat Phil's head when he walk out of the tunnel on saturday. TN is 1-1 s/u in HUGE road games thus far and they have played a far tougher schedule that has prepared them for this game in T-town. All signs point to a barn burner this weekend and i will take the points

TN +3'

TN +150

Over 37'

I completely agree. I have tried to find a way to back Alabama in this spot, but I just don't see anything pointing to them other than a blowout of an obviously overrated Florida team. Fat Phil coming off a bye week sitting at 3-2 playing his most hated rival and getting points sounds like the play.

Alabama has been dominated by UT over the past decade, and they want this one reeeeeally bad!!!!! Bamers hate Phil almost as much or more than they hate Auburn because of his role with the NCAA investigation that landed the Tide on probation. The crowd will be pumped up and trying to match the hostile environment they created @ Bryant-Denny when Urban meyer was in town. UT defense will be a much tougher test for UA, especially without Prothro to stretch the field. I like the points here!

Thanks for the insight. I'll be taking Tenn and the points. Good luck. To me, you're the top SEC guy on the board.

I agree totally

I agree totally

I've been saying Tenn with the points all week. Prothro was lube in the engine for Bama. I just think they are not on the same level as V-Tech, Texas, USC, and Gerogia. Bama goes down this weekend!

I won't be touching this game since I'm a BAMA fan, but it's been a long time since BAMA fans have felt this good about our chances against the Vols. If you look at the last two years, UT clearly had the advantage in talent and depth. Even still, BAMA managed to give UT all they could handle in '03 (5 OT) and '04 (interception on last drive).

Even with the loss of Prothro, I think this year BAMA has more talent. Maybe not depth, but many feel as if UA has the better starting 22.

I'm biased but I'd have to give a slight edge to the BAMA D. UT has a great front four, but I don't think their overall D is as good as UA's. Even if the defenses are a wash, I think BAMA has the edge when it comes to offense. Even with huge loss of Prothro, I'll take a Sr. Brodie over the uncertainty at QB UT is currently dealing with.

Finally, I think most folks realize how hungry this BAMA team is after what they've been through, I'm just not sure non-UA fans realize how hungry. They've looked flat several times this year but I think most would agree it is due to them looking ahead.

And don't forget the fact that the players know how much this game means to the fans after all of the Fulmer/NCAA off-the-field BS.

Sorry for not giving any solid #'s or trends, just wanted to add my worthless .02 on my first ever post.

ROLL!

In their two losses to Florida and Georgia, Tennessee has scored three touchdowns. The two TDs against Georgia came after an interception was returned to the 1-yard line and on the final play of the game with the Bulldogs leading 27-7.

Tennessee ranking 10th in the SEC and 98th nationally in scoring offense with 19 points per game. Only Ole Miss and Mississippi State have scored fewer touchdowns than the Vols' 11

Receiver Jayson Swain of Huntsville said following the 16-7 loss to Florida that an eighth-grade defense could stop the UT offense.

Tennessee ranks ninth in the SEC in penalties, getting flagged for an average of 62.6 yards per game.

UT offense hasn't gone much of anywhere this season. Coming in at 97th nationally in scoring offense - one spot ahead of Tennessee - is Utah State, the Tide's homecoming opponent next week.

Tennessee running game averaging just 2.9 yards per carry despite Riggs' impact, Fulmer said the problems have "really been different things."

Add to all this the renewed debate in Knoxville over quarterbacks Rick Clausen and Erik Ainge. While Clausen has been far more effective and engineered the 30-27 comeback win over LSU last month, Ainge looks to have the brighter future.

And if it's any indication, Tide backup quarterback John Parker Wilson is playing the role of the UT quarterback on the scout team this week. And he's wearing Ainge's No. 10 jersey, not Clausen's No. 16.
various parts cut and pasted from Newspaper
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shula said that sophomore D.J. Hall (Ft Walton Beach) looked good in practice this week and will be ready for Saturday?s game at wide receiver and on special teams. He missed most of the Ole Miss game last week with a lower back injury.

Crimson Tide senior linebacker DeMeco Ryans has been named a semi-finalist for the prestigious Butkus Award

University of Alabama senior quarterback Brodie Croyle has been selected as one of seven finalists for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award as announced by the Frank Camp Chapter of the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation.

University of Alabama sophomore Jamie Christensen has been named Southeastern Conference Special Teams Player of the Week as announced by the league office.

UT averaging
98.8 Rushing Yards per game.
UA
163.5 Rushing yards per game
Alabamas Darby averaging 5.5 YPC and leads SEC with 613 Yards

Only Kentucky has less total yards in the SEC.

Tell me AU2001 what happened since 9-29-05 when you wrote "I think Bama should beat UT this year. I also think they will beat LSU if Brodie stays healthy." and now? since that day Alabama beat the shit out of FLA, and won by 3 on the road. And since that day UT got the shit kicked out of them, and beat miss at home by 17. UT has only covered one time ATS this year. AT LSU. I mean this UT team only beat that jugernaut UAB 17-10 @ UT. University of Alabama at Birmingham. Give me a break dude.

Prothro got hurt and Alabama's offense only put up meager 13 against Ole Piss! That's what happened. So , I guess I should've put if Brodie OR Prothro get hurt.

And I never said that Alabama would not win this game, I just said I like the points here. You know, you CAN bet on a dog to cover, AND the other team still can win the game. You knew that right?

And I was wrong on my pick of Florida against Alabama, you never miss a game I guess? I also backed Alabama last week against hapless Ole Miss and they barely got out of there with a win and would've lost if Ole Miss could've kicked a field goal! If you care that much to go back and research my posts, you will see my GOY was Tennessee +7 over LSU in Baton Rouge! I love how you are so caught up with my posts that you go back and spend your time researching them. It's flattering...:mj07:

You Bamers really are one of a kind. I love you guys. Just to show my appreciation, I will change back to my original pick here to Alabama moneyline. That way, if UA wins, I win, and if UA loses, I get to laugh at all you Bamers coming crashing back down to earth!

You should have listened to me when I posted a week before bama played Ole Piss that Alabama would not cover, due to looking ahead to UT game. Why did UT barely get a win against UAB?And Im not caught up with your picks at all. Just all your BS and how you cost a lot of people a lot of money a few weeks ago. Your ignorance insisting that it was a lead pipe lock on FLA. You should be ashamed. And I like how you changed your nic. Why dont you put the old one back up? Hot Air.... I have never ever recomended a play. Not once. And I damn sure never told anyone I had a lock. This is the first time this year I have recomended a play. Im not claiming a lock or any horseshit. Just a recomendation. Play Alabama.
Do with it what you will....

All cappers pick winners, all cappers pick losers.

But there are only a handful of losers like yourself who don't have the stones to post your own picks, only the ignorance to bash those who do.

I live here in Tuscaloosa and it is already getting loud and noisy for this weekend. One has to remember to think how bad we hate Fulmer for what all he did and realize Alabama has had this game circled the whole year. This is there season. Tennessee should not be able to move the ball against Bama. And for all the people saying we scored only 13 against Ole Miss. Look back at Arkansas game. Alabama always plays down or up to the level of our competition. This is a no bet on the side because I dont bet on my team but I think the under is the safest play and good luck to all. All this Prothro talk, he may never step on the field again is what they're saying.

Good Luck to all

UT-UA

UT-UA

Line up to 4. Huge Bama fan here. Talked to a number of players this week. All business. This is going to be 5 years of hatred coming out in one game. The level for Hatred of UT is second to none.

As for the OM game. We had an off week before and spent that time on UT. Then we worked Monday and Tuesday of the OM game week on UT. The team only prepared for OM for 2 days, not to mention the notorious bad early morning games that UA always has(Southern Miss).

As someone mentioned earlier UT's points have come off of short fields. I think the swapping of Ainge and Clausen will be difficult for UT. All UA needs is 17 points, cause UT will not score more than twice.

Alot of you seem to have you mind made up on UT, get it now while it is at 4, the Tide pulls one out 17-14.

I like the under as well, I don't see either team getting 3 TD's.

Yeah...

Yeah...

I think the Maryland players said the exact say thing last night about Tech. Granted Tenn/Bama is two top programs unlike Mary...But when you get into that level of analysis your over analyze the game...As a Bama fan you should know that Prothro was the spoon that stirred the Kool-Aid for Bama...Huge loss for the Tide and last week at Ole Miss made that more than apparent...Bama will more and likely loss to LSU at home later the season...They are just not one of the elite teams this season like V-Tech, Texas, Gerogia, and USC...They are due to drop a game and this is the one...But granted all of the trends do favor Bama in this one, and all the trends go against Tenn. But Tenn has never be a good cover team anyways...But whom am I? I am just going my gut feeling on this one, and let me tell you I have a rather large gut! Bottom line this game will be won in the fourth, all you Bama homers keep hitting that line and its at +4 already lets get up to +5

I have posted EVERY play I made. Every single one. But I have never, ever recomended a play. Ever. This is the one game I am confident enough to say"You should play Alabama" I recomend Alabama.
Its not a lead pipe lock like your FLA over Alabama you predicted. You Urging people to load up, reload , its an ez winner, bet the house. I might have respected you if you came back and apologized for making an ass out of yourself, and costing a lot of people money with your lead pipe lock. I have never been critical of anyone making picks. Only assclowns that claim, inside knowlege or lead pipe locks. Your a bullshit artist. and a phony. I hope you load up on UT and AU this weekend.
And for the record as usual this is my play.
ALA -3 2400/2000 my largest of the year thus far.For the record , what are you playing?

You said it yourself.

Thom24ad,

Did you say anything in your post? You said Mary. said this against Tech last night (??) You say they are due to drop the game against LSU. (What does that have to do with this game?) Then you say they are due to drop a game this year (that is not a bold statement - since most teams, even the best do.) Then you say all of the trends favor Bama and go against Tenn. and that Tenn. is not a good cover team. (What the hell are you saying???)The only thing I agree with you on is that I am just taking Bama on the money line, because I think that this will be a tough game that Bama wins by 3 (b/c I don't think that UT can score against our D.)

Believe you me Wy, my entire family (parents, sisters, aunts uncles, grandparents and cousins) all went to AU and are avid fans of AU, so I have had to hear this crap about Auburn getting screwed last year and being the "real" Nat. Champ. for a year (which is crap, b/c granted USC may not have beat them 55-19, but they still would have whipped thier ass!!) So yes I am the black sheep in my family, and I am sooo tired of hearing about it.

Roll Tide!!!!!
