Heres poll out by pew yesterday--that I thought intereting alng those lines-Buddy

61% - Values Gap in Black Community Thu Mar 6, 12:00 AM ET

By a ratio of two-to-one (61%-31%), blacks say that the values of poor and middle class blacks have grown more dissimilar over the past decade; in contrast, most blacks say that the values of blacks and whites have grown more alike during this same time period. On a related question, in a recent Pew survey, only about a quarter of all blacks (23%) say that middle class and poor blacks share "a lot" of values in common. A plurality (42%) say they share some values in common; 22% say they share only a little in common and 9% say they share almost no values in common. Whites share the view that there has been a convergence in black and white values in the past decade; they also agree that the values of middle-class and poor blacks have grown less alike. Well-educated blacks are more likely than blacks with less education to say that a values gap within the black community has widened during the past decade. At the same time, however, it is blacks with lower incomes and less education who are most inclined to see few shared values between middle class and poor blacks -- suggesting that the perception of differences over values and identity within the African American community is felt most strongly by those blacks at the lower end of the socio-economic spectrum.

My head hurts after reading that. I felt like I was stuck on the Gravitron. :scared

Russia sucks, in my opinion.

Ukraine is much better. You can't really expect to know what another country is like until you go there. I enjoyed Kiev some, but I liked Dnepropretrovsk better. It is about 1M population.

I did not want to eat Dill seasoning for a month after I got back. I wasn't aware that this was a staple, but I felt like it was in EVERYTHING!

One thing that I am extremely jealous of is their train system. If we had a passenger train that went from Nashville to Atlanta, I woud use it frequently. But I'm sure we would somehow flub it up over here. I think, if done correctly, it beats the hell out of plane travel.

Oh yeah. It also helped to be with people from there. Russian/Ukranian is not exactly something you hear very often, so communication would be very tough without my co-workers.

And if you are serious about learning another language, Rosetta Stone is a good course. But you have to look at it like going to class. No distractions.

Is that enough tangent information for you, Wayne. :)

HIGHLY HIGHLY overrated. I would say they have far less attractive women than we do. There, of course, were some very attractive women. But the stories going in were WAY out of proportion.

Brazil holds the title in my book. It will be hard to unseat this powerhouse!

His perception of black America is probably greatly influenced by what is shown on 3 C P TV in St. Pete. If its all gangsta rap and Allen the Answer then one perception. If its all Sidney Poitier and Tiger Woods then another perception.

He better be more afraid of clearing customs, if his name matches one on the terror list, he maybe flown to a 3rd country to be waterboarded and tortured, or just plain disappear.

Arar was detained at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport in 2002 during a stopover on his way home to Canada from a vacation with his family in Tunisia.

He said he was chained and shackled by U.S. authorities for 11 days for interrogation and then flown to Syria, where he was tortured and forced to make false confessions. He was released 10 months later, with Syrian officials saying they had no reason to hold him further.

A Canadian inquiry determined that Arar indeed was tortured, and it cleared him of any terrorist links or suspicions.

Since then, Ottawa has been demanding a formal apology from Washington, as well as the removal of Arar's name from watch lists. "We think the evidence is absolutely clear and that the United States should in good faith remove Mr. Arar from the list," Harper said.

The U.S. government insists it has reasons to keep him on its watch lists.

In February 2006, the U.S. District Court of Appeals dismissed Arar's lawsuit against U.S. government officials, ruling that his deportation was protected on national security grounds. His attorneys with the New York-based Center for Constitutional Rights filed an appeal in December.

"We are grateful that the Canadian government has had the humanity to try to right the terrible wrong that was done to Maher," said Maria LaHood, an attorney for the center. "We still hope the U.S. government will follow Canada's lead."

Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, this month scolded Attorney General Alberto Gonzales for refusing to explain why the United States had sent a Canadian citizen to Syria.

no....i`m not gonna give it a rest when it comes to enemies of this country...

don`t like that?....then,put me on your ignore list...

Consider it done.

This forum grows dumber and dumber by the day (this statement having nothing to do with the original topic, which I thought was a very interesting question... but Dawgball generally always seems to be able to discuss things on a better level than most... myself included). But you've quickly escalated from from a somewhat deranged bright guy to someone I would be afraid of being within a mile of in person because you truly seem unbalanced. AR is becoming a DTB clone -- which is actually good to see, because it was sad watching him pretend to not be a hardline republican -- and DTB... well, he's the same as always. 95 percent skull, maybe 5 percent brain. It's long been obvious that he doesn't have a whole lot going on upstairs, but his complete and utter inability to use any sort of logic or reason would be laughable if it weren't so damn sad.

disappointed how narrow minded you are bj....i guess you only want to associate yourself with people you agree with politically.that's too bad.

it doesn't matter if you or others think i'm a republican or not....it's nothing to be ashamed of. but i guess if agreeing with roe v. wade, or stem cell research, or gay rights, etc. makes me a republican so be it.

what is pathetic is people like you who are supposed to be "progressives" who cannot accept others opinions (i'll wait for murphy to chime in about his new best friend). you're no different than some of people on the right who you criticize as being intolerable.

and do yourself a favor put me on ignore also....

and btw...you couldn't be more wrong about dawgball. he is a very nice articulate person, but since he doesn't agree with you politically i can see where you would be afraid of being with him.

Just to clarify one thing... I was giving Dawgball credit for always being level-headed and not resorting to being an ass at times (like myself). Not taking a shot at him at all. If you re-read what I wrote about him, hopefully you can see that.

I try not to get constantly riled up about anything in this forum. It does happen. I pick my threads to read and attempt to add to things here. But I especially like to look for things that make me laugh in any of the forums. Like when someone such as Buddy passes right by an AR thread..

to highlight someone using the Lord's name in vain...
