Nice writeups, Vyrus. Great to see a student of the game around here.

Man, I am chomping at the bit for college ball season to start just like you are. BUT, I really like to see one game from each team before jumping in. Probably will succumb and get a little FSU action. Unlike those freakin Orange Terds (Cuse), State doesn't owe me a nickel and the fact that this well coached (ready?) bunch of speedsters will get right out to fast start will make them a 1st half play for me. Goooo Booker!

I'll be visiting you more often to get the scope on teams that I am not so familiar with.

Good luck this season.

How do you guys determine these plays so quickly?

Between 8/31 and 9/4, there are 44 games listed and I don't see a decided advantage anywhere.

You guys are confident and bold right out of the gate and I'm sittin' here bitin' my nails.

I'm a scairdy cat.

But I'll tell ya' this....

As a tribute to the Worm, win or lose, I'm takin' BUFFALO -6

(in a 13 pt. tease)

and I may do the same...hearing alotta good tinks about Buff...line looks high for a team that crapped the bed last year...Drew Willy has looked good during the offseason from what ive heard/seen out of the Buffalo program and capping magazines. Although he had 12 Int's to only 6 td's, he did complete a school record 60.6% of his passes for almost 1500 yards, and 99% of Buffalo's run production from last year, is back this year. They have a great Red Zone threat in Phillip Warren, a 270 pound tailback that was moved to the position from tailback during the season, and ended up with 248 yards on 58 carries. That included a 92 yard performance against one of the MAC's best teams from '05: Bowling Green. They have alotta talent on both sides of the ball, but they lack speed, somthing that wont matter against Temple. I really can see Buffalo sealing the deal, and Willy coming out and having a game that will show he is one of the key pieces in the turnaround project Coach Turner Gill has planned. Many publications only show them having 4 wins, and with BG, NIU, Auburn, BC, Kent Stat, Akron, Wisky and CMU (my suprise team from the MAC) on their schedule, Temple is arguabley their best shot for a big win. GL, im adding Buff myself

...hell, just like you do....

...we just guess. ;)

p.s. 13 points? ...add one of these: vandy, so. car, akron, navy, houst or fl. st. ;)

So Car, not a chance...JK...great ML bet, but MSU's defense, at home, is a live dog a 7 imo...Agree on Houston, Akron and FSU though, all of them are plays or strong leans for me

well according to a few guys on this forum, (who I won even name since this is the football forum), im pretty clueless when it comes to the capping. But I do try a bit to know what position Brady Quinn plays, and who A-Peterson is...Florida QB and Vandy WR, respecitively, right? Jjust kidding...anyhow, thanks for the compliment...hopefully my capping pays off...alotta plays for week 1, but with 40+ gams on the card, I def can find value in 10 of them, and I have...started capping them #'s right when they came out, and half my plays are cotails of guys who I find very profitable/knowledgable. Gl bro

Like the Cal play. Hate going against an SEC club at home, especially at night, but I think this Cal team is BCS-bowl caliber.

thanks Blackman...maybe we dont get along outside of the football forum, but your knowledge in NCAAFB is something I always look forward to...this is the year the REST of the Pac-10 shows that they werent just a tag-along of the USC dynasty...Tedford's team this year is one that will raise alot of eyebrows...already got thm to win the NCAA Championship and Lynch to win the Heisman...like I said, 2 programs going in COMPLETLEY DIFFERENT directions, and Tenn being favored only because of their past success...everyone thinks theirs "no way tenn has another bad year"...says who? When your team sucks, and your coach has lost his touch, its more than possible you will have a bad season...ESPECIALLY opening up your season against a team many have in the BCS, like yourself...Gl to us

...not trying to be an arse...or start any chit...or chit in someone's thread saying they're making a bad pick...or whatever, but if interested, here's my take.

...remember last year? TN hyped pre-season...could have a chance at the NC after they win the SEC.... BIG FLOP. Remember 1998? Rebuilding season...Peyton's gone.... They'll struggle this year.... Surprise!!! NC.

...fast forward. This year...CAL is loaded. If they get by Tennessee, then USC is the only thing standing between them and a NC. TN is rebuilding...lost 6 of the front 7 on D. Ainge & Cutcliff have the weight of the world on them....

CAL is stacked on D!!! ...not to mention the best RB pair in the country. Tedford is 10X's the coach that Phat Phil is.... CAL will win this one easy!!!

...yet line has moved from CAL -2 to TN -2...back to TN -1...and will likely be CAL -1 by gametime....

...travel across country...playing in one of the most hostile 107k+ environments...in the SEC...and you're gonna come in here and play smash-mouth football...and you're from what conference? LMAO...sorry. :142smilie

...that is...with all due respect. no offense intended. :)

you come in saying you don't want to disturb his thread and all you do is talk a lot smack... :nono:
always seen you as an educated poster but that was weak...

p.s. line move was a combination joe public pounding tenn. and injury to cal CB.

keep it coming Taoist..no offense taken, THIS IS WHAT THIS FORUMS ABOUT...opinions, insights, timelines like the one you just layed out...VERY TRUE...but honestly, the books aren't just putting lines out their on crunching some numbers...they have looked at all these trends, they have studied them for years, they watch every big program (and every other program with spreads applicable) and they knew everything you just told me, before last season even came to a close...lines reflect all the knowledge of the world of the books, and they put them out based not only on what they think the spread SHOULD BE, but what will give thm even action...so i know i went to 50 different points here, but the line reflects, like you said, Tennessee's tendancy to COME OUT AND MAKE A BLAST when they are supposed to get even worst...but lets be honest here, Peyton left a program with a ton of talent on it, and with Fulmer in in his prime, with a NFL teams worth of recruits left on board after Peyton made the move to the big leauges...this is not hte case this year...like I said, two programs that have gone in COMPLETLEY DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS...Tenn won games they should have lost last year, and lost games people didnt even doubt would get close to a loss (only a spread loss), much like CAL was a few years ago when they beat USC in C-Palmers last year...but this CAL team is stacked..and like you said, everyting points to CAL, and yet the line has gone in Tenn favor...Put in the notion that when CAL lost its all conference DB, the line didnt even budge: it actually went even lower...SOOOOOOOOO many times I learned the hard way when I just bet a game because "it looks to easy, everything points to team A, team B is the team to pound"...and boom I have lost...thats one lesson I learned, sometimes a game that looks solid, IS SOLID...and after looking at the game for the last few months, everything tells me that this is the big game that will start Cal's best window of oppurtunity too get passed USC and give Tedford his shot at NC...sure Tenn looks lik a solid bet, if you are considering that Tenn sucked ass last year, and now have a chance to redeem themselvs against what many consider a sure shot BCS team etc...but Cal has been getting ready for this game since before their bowl win over Tenn...the big game they scheduled to MAKE A STATEMENT...and what better place than one of the nations toughest venues, against one of the nations most succesful team/coach over the last decade...but even with all the angles I look at to doubt my CAL bet, it ALL leads me back to a offensive genius with his best defense since he got to CAL, with who I consider the most complete running back in the game (with a proven All-Conference BACK UP), and the hunger to put their names on the BCS committees teams to watch list, and not have to wait until they play USC to see whether they are BCS worthy...Tedford has been building this team the last few years to get it to where it is now, and their is now way he lets a team with this much talent lose in its first game, especially when a win at Knoxville vs Tenn makes waves regardless of how bad Tenn see is...and with Tenn having what I consider one of its weakest clubs in years, I can't even budge when it comes to reconsidering my bet...

Marshawn Lynch carries CAL to a pure blowout, and Tedford will prove once again that he can groom ANY QB with potential into a All-Conf mold player without years of experience needed...

I may upgrade this play, call me nuts on week 1, but watching local clips of CAL and Lynch, and also trying to absorb as much Tenn info/clips as I can,I just cannot wait for the team that has been building itself to the caliber that they are at right now, to come out FIRING and for Lynch to begin the season that will lead him to be the #1 pick of the New York Jets next season...perfect replacement for Curtis Martin, same strength and running style (strong, yet elusive), but he has much more of a explosive factor than Curtis...

Gl guys...maybe im wrong, but even if Tenn wins 35-0, with the team Cal has compared to that of Fat Phils, I wouldnt even think twice betting it 10 times out of 10..

gl, and love your posts Taoist...I wanna hear ALL THE DIRT, all the diff angles that make Cal look like a trap...like I said, thats what maks this site great

Let him be Johnny...the country boys will always consider us a pussy squad...yet where do Reggie Bush, Matt Leinhart, Marcus Allen, OJ Simpson, Carson Palmer, Keyshawn and an endless list of top 10 draft picks come from? The "pussy conference" of course...and what about the new savior of the Rams, mr Stephen Jackson, he came from the girly pac 10...dont get me wrong, the South has some great smashmouth football...but the Pac-10 grooms players into guys who will SURVIVE the NFL...minus Shawn Alexander, these SEC kids are pounded so hard since pop warner, that not one of them can make full on careers...where as the Pac-10 they breed players that willl last, that have finesse, and sure they dont pound the ball up teh gut of the D-Line, but they play with SMARTS..with elusiveness...and they go on to win Heisman's...I challenge ANYOEN TO TELL ME WHAT CITY HAS HAD BETTER RUNNING BACKS COME OUT OF IT THAT SAN DIEGO? Reggie Bush, Marcus Allen, Rashaun Salaam...,.the list goes on

Anyone can IMPLY someone is making a stupid pick...and to go against a SEC (aka the GODS OF FOOTBALL, the HARDASSES, the ROUGHNECKS) team is stupid, especailly a "puss" pac 10 team...but nothing can be proven until one day: GAME DAY ... well talk after

Though I am not making a play on the Tenn/Cal game seeing that I just dont know how good Cal is or Tenn is and the line their is just so slim. I wouldnt be surprised either way this one goes but if I had to bet I would take Homecourt advantage.

But I just wanted to comment on your SEC players in the NFL,and I was wondering if you saw Strangelove link about which colleges produce the best NFL players, and the most teams represented was the SEC.
