So far, here is my favorite match up for Week 1.

Nebraska -12- or 13 vs. S. Mississippi

USM will struggle on the road at Nebraska... The Golden Eagles are 2-6 on the road with their only wins coming last year against Virginia and Navy...

This year they have a new coach and lose a 4 year starting QB... Last year's back up, Quentin Pierce, was 3 of 7 for 45 yds 1 TD 1 INT and has been moved to WR... That means that the new QB hasn't taken a snap in a USM uniform... USM returns 10 starters from a year ago and those starters did not play in front of a hostile crowd like they will in this game... The largest crowd USM played in front of last year was at ECU (50,300)

This will be a learning and growing experience for USM... They have a bye following this game to get ready for a big conference game against ECU...

The last time USM started the season on the road against a larger conference foe was 2 years ago at S. Carolina... USM was 13.5 point dog and got throttled 41-13

My Prediction: Nebraska 38 S. Miss 17

Another one I'm looking at is the A&M/LaTech game... I really like LaTech in this spot... They are catching way more points than they should be

Something to add to the USM/Nebraska game... USM loses their AA K Hrapmann... that's a big loss for their ST

Let's talk Clemson/Auburn...

Both teams have a lot returning on both sides of the ball... but what keeps jumping out at me is Auburn changing offenses from the spread to a pro style and losing Dyer... I just don't know Auburn can put up pts with Clemson in this one

Thoughts?

This game is a tough one .....
Losing Dyer is actually going to help the offensive production, there is a reason he is sitting out at ark st. Pro style is going to help the d as with ball control vs gun and done. The all american fb transfer 253lb should open up holes for McCalebb a senior back with world class speed. The o line will be much improved as Clemson played against a virtual freshman, soph Auburn squad on both sides of the ball last year.

I am throwing out the fact that w. Virginia put up 70 points in the final game. Clemsons d is very much suspect. However, the offense of Clemson is top 5 JMO. Tough game 1 to cap:0008
