Washington...2 factors in this one for me...#1 this game and S. Florida fit into the same awesome historical trend (play on any road team favored by 14+ pts in week 1)...This doesn't make it an auto-play for me but pretty close, there are 1 or 2 other games on the board that fit the profile of this trend but I haven't pulled the trigger on em on account there are some other litigating factors involved...back to Washington, #2 Washington is in that group of what I call 2nd tier title contenders (legit teams but by their ranking are on the outside looking in)...in other words Washington needs to win and needs to win impressively, if they have the chance they will run up the score to send that message to voters that they are a real contender...if a Pac-12 team goes to the bottom feeder of the BIG10 and doesn't destroy them and finish the game with athority they will be labeled average to the voters and it will be hard to get off that list...At the end of the day Washington can name the score in this one and I believe they will...I am always on the lookout for teams that fit this criteria in the first few weeks.

South Florida is just that much more talented than SJST...speed, speed, and more speed, this game will be at warp speed for the Spartans...Charlie is going to want to send a message in his debut...more importantly they fit into my week 1 historical trend...sometimes its just that simple to pull the trigger on a game

North Dakota is a different beast and if your going to play it you better get it in now...Pretty simple really, North Dakota is a legit top ten FCS team and this is their super bowl...A win here will propel them into the top tier of FCS...Utah is on the decline, while they will have more athletes/depth than ND they will be lesser than from fundamentals standpoint...Utah isn't playing for national titles or conference championships they are trying to get to the Caribbean Bowl (2nd tier bowl game in a nice local) and beat their rivals...Utah has BYU on deck, a win in week 2 will make their season and perhaps save a few jobs in the Utah coaching dept...they will not be motivated to play the X-Fighting Sioux...this is a game they want to make sure they win and get out of there to get ready for BYU...Even if Utah manages to get up by 4+ scores this one could easily come home with a backdoor cover...Motivation is a huge factor in this play, with one team playing its game of the year and the other team knowing they just have to show up for this one and get ready for BYU in WK2...Don't be surprised if the Sioux give em a run for their money just to win the game

I have 2 more FCS teams I will be looking hard at closer to game days

I like your write-ups, I was just thinking about the same with Washington myself. And Strong should be motivated I would think after having to leave Texas, and not feeling he got enough time to build. However, when he was at Louisville, he pretty much always performed real well as a dog, but not necessarily as a favorite. I do agree though, they shouldn't have much problem with SJS. Don't know a lot about Utah or NDS but what you wrote sounds reasonable.

Oregon St Beavers +4 -105 (1/2*)

This game means a great deal more to the beavers and at the end of the day that's enough for me...Oregon st and it's coaches know they have to win this game...this game will define their season...I see a hard fought field goal game going either way...this ones for TJ, gl my old friend

NOT KNOCKING YOUR PICK, JUST HAVE HARD TIME BUYING INTO PHILOSOPHY THAT IN SPORT WHERE WINNING IS SO CRITICAL THAT GAME MEANS GREAT DEAL MORE TO ONE TEAM THAN THE OTHER. NOT ONLY IS WINNING IMPORTANT FOR RECORD AND POTENTIAL BOWL GAMES AT END OF SEASON, IT IS SO IMPORTANT FOR RECRUITING.

IN AN ERA WHERE LOSING SEASONS ARE NOT TOLERATED FOR LONG BY FAN BASE, BOOSTERS, AND ATHELETIC DEPTS, EACH WIN IS VERY IMPORTANT TO THESE COACHES AND THEIR LIVELIHOOD. JUST IN RECENT HISTORY BOTH THESE PROGRAMS HAVE BEEN STEPPING STONES FOR COACHES TO MOVE ON TO BIGGER AND BETTER PROGRAMS, CONFERENCES AND ALMIGHTY PAYCHECK.

YOU ALSO HAVE 18-22 YR OLDS THAT HAVE BEEN WORKING HARD IN THE OFF SEASON CHOMPING AT THE BIT TO GET ON THE FIELD SO I THINK IT WILL BE EQUALLY AS IMPORTANT TO BOTH SIDES.

MAY CATCH CSU LOOKING AHEAD TO RIVAL GAME WITH BUFFS SO YOU MAY HAVE A WINNAH...THATS WHERE GOOD COACHING COMES IN TO HAVE THEM FOCUS ON ONE GAME AT A TIME.

THOUGHT YOUR COMMENT WAS WORTH THE CONVERSATION...GOOD LUCK THIS SEASON WITH ALL YOUR PICKS! :0008

I think you said it best COL st has a big game on deck but more importantly Oregon st loses this game their season is going backwards fast...trust me when I say I know the coaching staff and they feel their jobs are at stake in this game...at the end of the day COL st could win this game fairly easily and I don't think it would be a huge surprise to anyone...I stated my angle and I trust my judgement win or lose...I have much more interest in Sfl later today
