RO (rushing offense) and RD (rushing defense) are the rankings of the two teams involved.
ORD is the average ranking of the rushing defense each team has faced and ORO is the average ranking of the rushing offense that each team has faced.
For example, Wisconsin's number 2 ranking in rushing offense has been gotten (you might say) against opponents with an rushing defense average ranking of 98. And it will be going against Rutgers rushing defense ranking of 61; so their facing a little stiffer competition as they had been going against a 98 and now going against a 61.
Can also read backwards kind of for RD. Wisconsin's rushing defense of 18 was obtained against opponents with an average rushing offense of 90. So basically what is saying is Wisconsin's really good rankings of 2 and 18 were obtained against not so good rushing offenses and defenses.
It's not necessarily easy to see at first but keep looking at it and it will get easier, it took me a while to get used to it. Basically, the two inner columns are the opposition average rankings while the ones on the two ends belong the teams listed.
Read it in and L shape; Wisconsin's rushing of 2, directly across to 98, then over and down to the 61. Hope this helps Mr Reb; I've about confused myself.
Yea my mind has a hard time with so many #'s I guess......haha! Thanks! So the number to really look at that tells me who the pick is is the end # and the biggest # at the end is good right?
Just forget about the 2 middle columns for a moment. You've got Wisconsin's number 2 ranked rushing offense (about as good as it gets) going against Rutgers number 61 ranked rushing defense; so it looks like a mismatch (and it may be), until you see that Wisconsin got that number 2 ranking by going against teams with an average rushing defense of 98, and now they are going to be going against a 62 ranking. It's just a guide really, doesn't necessarily tell a person to play, but maybe who to stay away from. The PS is just a predicted score.
