Wow the Vikings blow 14 - 0 leads two week in a row, typical Viking fashion but onto this week. The Bears put up a good effort and just about upset the Lions, this week they come into Minny as a 7 point dog. I think the biggest difference is one team is fighting and wanting to win where we have another team who just may pack it in and want the season to be over with. Will Jay Cutler have that one game to prove he deserves that contract? One thing I think will happen.. He is going to get hit often. Vikings are much faster up tempo on their home turf and I think they cause fits on the other side Teddy is really playing well, he has some difficulties with running for his life cause the O line is brutal - 3 starters out but look for the Vikes to be the more focused team looking to win. Also look for Xavier Rhodes to lock up on Jeffery and take him out of the game.

Packers - 7.5 vs Lions.
You know the Lions have not won there since 1991? This seems so easy right now, Green Bay a beast at home or is it. I know the Packers have put up gawdy numbers at home but they have struggled offensively against tough defenses. I wonder why that is? Will they at home? I can't take the Lions in this spot but I am not going to take the Packers either, the whole world on the Pack and something doesn't smell right. I will be taking the Packers and teasing them with the Vikings. I think that is as solid of a bet that I am going to get right now.
Now to Packer bashing - Did you see all the Pro Bowl selection and Alternates? What a joke mainly the Alternates.. Sam Shields and Tramon Williams :142smilie. Julius Peppers :mj07:
I'm glad no Vikings made the list, cause I want them to get them in a good contract. I can assure you that Shields and Williams can't touch Viking's DB Xavier Rhode's Jock and Vikings safety Harrison Smith is as good as it gets.

as you well know...Pro Bowl Selections are a popularity contest ..
they are not the best players at each position..
they haven't been for many many years..
at least now the All Star game is actually promoted as a side show...what it has been for at least the last 20 years.
Yea harrison smith would be a "cover of madden" type popular in a better situation.....guy is literally all over the field and plays sideline to sideline....

I'm glad because they can get those players signed long term at a non pro bowl price. Vikes going to have tons and tons of cap room.
Gb is a shit load better than Minny and have 25 million in cap so Minny will still be below them as usual
Not if Peterson doesn't come back, Peterson, Greenway, Ponder, and Charlie Johnson saves the Vikings 25 million right there. Vikes do not have to resign anyone, all there star players are under contract.

Cobb will want 8 - 9 million, Tramon now that he is pro bowl reserve will want 6 mill, House will want 3 mill, and Bulaga? 6 or 7 mill.

Vikings have much better younger players on defense and it's not even close, Vikings need to revamp offensive line.
I'm really glad my kids have been average students in academics and average skilled in any athletic sports they play in. This way, I don't have to worry about them getting accepted to a top tier university and me having to deal with paying the high amounts of tuition for the great education they would receive.
Each semester, when their report cards come to me I pray they DO NOT make it on the honor roll. I don't want them getting big heads thinking that some day they can go to a Division 1 College or something. That tuition money is going to take care of my bass boat I want, not books and academia.

I assume then you would be glad that a university would choose your child's friend for a division 1 scholarship over your's despite your son having significantly better play.
Salary caps and floors in the NFL are in place to keep parity amongst the league. The number of people on the team is a limiter to keep parity amongst the league.
So, every team has the same number of players, and every team has the same total amount of salary they can spend.
The Vikings aren't doing themselves any favors by not paying players a market rate. Pro Bowl or no Pro Bowl.
I'd think that a team the develops Pro Bowl players would be sort of a selling point for free agents out there looking for a new home. Do you want to go play for the scabs that just grind out 6 wins a year and then go home in January? Or do you want to go play for a team with winners on it, and a chance to push yourself more and do more things?

Yep I agree but market shows free agents in football really could care less. Vikings have got some of better free agents past two
years, free agents realize that football teams can turn over quite easily. I think there would be some linebackers who want to join the Vikes defense and if ap comes back some linemen would block for him.
Ron Wolf and Ted Thompson have, for the most part, made superb choices. It think it's all about the GMs. I'm an unrepentant homer, BP, like you. GB has the huge advantage of not having an egomaniacal owner interfering so that when they are fortunate enough to have a brilliant football mind as GM, they really build a homegrown roster that works.
