I would not bet on UM this week. There are some very real flaws on that defense that will not be fixed by Saturday.

Glad to see your opinion on this. I was thinking the same thing. I would play Oreg or nothing at this point.

utah-7(120).....

no trend to support this play.i was impressed how utah played in the osu game last week, even after their starting qb & runner went down....they just ran out of gas at the end. just think utah, even without the qb & runner is a much stronger team in all facets of the game than af, who also will be missing their top rusher.

got this from another site....

Air Force Academy - Air Force starting tailback Kip McCarthy most likely is lost for his team's Mountain West Conference opener Saturday at Utah.

McCarthy missed his second day of practice with swelling and soreness in his right knee. If McCarthy is out, coach Troy Calhoun will go with freshman Savier Stephens and senior Jim Ollis, the latter of whom didn't play in the Falcons' 34-3 season-opening victory over South Carolina State on Saturday.

McCarthy led the Falcons in rushing in the opener with 129 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries. Stephens carried seven times for 29 yards and a touchdown.

this is af's first road game for their new coach & new offensive scheme, along with 3 new starters on the o-line.

af was ranked 78th in total defense in 2006 & finished dead last nationally in third down defense.this year they will have six starters returning. the defensive line will be the downfall will only have 1 experienced player starting.

i see utah wearing the af team down as the game goes along & winning this game comfortably.

good luck.

Wow, I was unaware of the inj to McCarthy. I am probably going to juice-off my AF play. Given all the volitility surrounding AF, I was already getting leary about my play.

u38 vt/lsu....

this game has slugfest written all over it.

both team's defenses are probably in the top 5 nationwide...& both return 8 starters from last year's teams.

lsu allowed 12.5 points & 243 yds. per game last year, while vt allowed 9.3 points & 219 yards per game...& both teams allowed allowed less than 100 yards rushing per game in each of the last 2 seasons.

i don't see either team relying on their qb's to win the game.flynn is inexperienced & the vt qb is too erratic.last week lsu had 44 runs & 15 passes vs. miss. st.

this game is going to be a field position game from beginning to end...& each team will be hoping the other makes more mistakes.

good luck.

I like this play, but prefer VT. I do expect LSU to throw far more this week than last. Like you mentioned earlier, LSU passed as little as possible last week, and they should open it up some this week. Not sure how effective the passing game will be.

It is stunning how you seem to have a "feel" for so many different teams. Keep it rolling.

u55 n.mex. st/n. mex....

this is strictly a trend play....

lay under - home teams where the total is between 49.5 and 56 (new mexico) - after outgaining opp by 175 or more total yards in their previous game, with an experienced QB returning as starter, in the first month of the season.

ats record is.....28-4 over the last 10 seasons.....87.5%

the average total posted in these games was: 53.3

the average score in these games was...team 23.7.....opponent 18.8 (total points scored = 42.5)

the number of games in which this system covered the total by 7 or more points was 21....65.6% of all games.

over the last 3 seasons the situation's record is....4-0.

over the last 5 seasons the situation's record is...14-2.

since 1992 the situation's record is....32-8.

good luck.

AR182, you are doubly good, great information and I love your Avatar.

I just love it when one of the games (Okie State) that sticks out to me the first time I looked at the lines has you and the trends going strong.

Thanks and keep up the good work.

vandy+4(120).....

i read that the vandy coach has had this game circled since spring practices.

vandy returns 17 starters (including the ol,qb,& excellent receiver) from a team that beat georgia on the road, led fla. in first downs, rushing, & passing in a close loss, loss to ark. by 2 points,& led at halftime in a close loss to bama.

this year bama has a young defense & is learning a new offensive system.

i think this game will also be close & think the dog is worth a shot.

good luck

On the other side as you with the Vandy play. I agree with your points about the game, but this would be a devastating loss for the Tide. The game will probably be close, so the +4 you have could be huge. I took Alabama at -3, so maybe one of us hits and the other gets a push.

Anyway I like your picks and writeups.

Good Luck

Despite the fact that this is the SEC opener under Slcik Nick, I would not be surprised with a flat effort from Bama. SEC home opener vs. ranked Arky is on deck. Players can say what they will, but I know that it is not tough for a group of 18-22 year olds to overlook "lowly" Vandy with a big game on deck.

u43 miami/okla...

miami....7 starters are back from last year's defense that allowed an average of 256 yards per game 67.8 rushing yards per game.

okla.....8 starters are back from a defense that allowed 3.3 yards per carry & 287 total yards per game.

okla. has red shirt freshman playing his first big game...miami has a qb who looked unimpresive last week against marshall.

miami is 12-1 under in road games in all games over the last 2 seasons....the average score was miami 20.4,opponent 14.6.

miami is 11-1 under in road games in games played on a grass field over the last 2 seasons....the average score was miami 20.4,opponent 14.2.

miami is 8-1 under in non-conference games over the last 3 seasons.....the average score was miami24.6,opponent 13.0.

okla. is 6-0 under in home games after outgaining opp by 125 or more total yards in their previous game over the last 2 seasons....the average score was okla. 26.2,opponent 13.5.

good luck.

I have been looking at this total as well. Special teams scores makes me nervous- A lot of new Qb's and Frosh running backs... I like it...

Good Luck to you
