CLEEEEAR!!

The Browns are an improving team. The defense seems to grow just a little stronger each of the last 3 years. In each of those last 3 years, the Browns have proceeded to Baltimore and have went toe to toe with the Ravens. The last 3 years, Yes, the Ravens won all 3 games, by 6 pts, 7 pts and 7 pts (3-0 ATS for the Browns). Two of those games came down to the last play with the Browns driving.

The Browns are just a little bit better this year, though they have not shown it yet. The Ravens are beat to hell, injured. Hell, the Ravens have a total of ONE legit receiver.

This game in Baltimore is always a dog fight. In the Ravens' Superbowl year, their undefeated at home year, all 3 playoff years, it didn't matter to the Browns. They come to play....HARD!!

The Ravens are in a Must Win situation. If they lose this week, they go 0-2 with Houston up next. I think the Ravens win this game somehow. To be honest, I am not really sure how. They will not have success running the ball against the Browns. They have NOBODY that can catch the ball, but somehow, I think they pull this out of their ass.

Cleveland will battle and the game will come down to the last few minutes like it always does. This will be a close shave. I have to take the points. I would not be shocked by a Browns win, but just can't pull the trigger on the M/L.

Play: Browns +7

Prediction: Ravens 20 Browns 17

I like the under but I completely suck at totals, so no play for me on that.

** Check my other NFL games out on a separate thread. 7-3 last week. 4-1 college yesterday

Not exactly what I was expecting you to say.
I have Ravens -6.5 so I just took Browns +7.5 -120,a Ravens 7 point win would be sweet.

First, I knew it would take a few weeks for this team to gel with so many vital parts being replaced.
HOWEVER, No one has yet to step into Pitta's role. The Ravens have since lost Jacoby Jones and Arthur Jones, 2 huge losses. Oher, and Pierce are playing very hurt. No one has stepped up to the #3 receiver role yet , let alone be able to fill in as a #2 to replace Jacoby for the next 4-6 weeks.

The Ravens were hit hard with key injuries early while the team is still coming together. Their void in leadership was obvious when they committed 2 personal foul penalties within 3 plays, early in the 2nd half last week when Denver scored back to back. So, today, week 2, despite the upgrades they made in the off season and the fact that I still see a very good team in the end, yeah, they might lose to the Browns.

GOOD teams will not lose to the Browns this year.

Well, I did say in my main write up that I expect the Ravens to grind a win out today, but it won't be easy. However, I keep asking myself if the Ravens are indeed a "Good Team" right now, today, in week 2. Unfortunately, I simply cannot answer that with a definitive yes right now.

What are you thinking is going to get better as the season goes on?

I don't think the Ravens have the personnel to be "better than last year" no matter how much time they have to gel.

Face it, the Ravens are a 9-7 team and two of those 9 wins will be against Cleveland.

Ray Lewis has hit the nail on the head all morning on ESPN. This Ravens lacks leadership right now. Somebody has to take the bull by the horns on this team.

Baltimore Ravens over Cleveland Browns (1 p.m., CBS). Joe Flacco and the Ravens have had a long time to recover from Peyton Manning's shellacking, and they should be pumped for their home opener as Super Bowl champions. And oh yeah, since Flacco and coach John Harbaugh have led the team, it has never lost to the new/old Browns (10-0), with an average scoring margin of 13 points. The same Browns who just lost by 13 at home to the Dolphins. It's an NFL homecoming game. Ravens 27, Browns 10. Video prev
just read this - is 13 point margin correct-if anyone knows the ravens it is you - thank you

"the bunker"
the thing being missed here(imo) is the situational aspect of the game...very different than in some past years... in most prior instances(the ravens have beaten the browns something like 10 in a row ) in years past, this was a game featuring a strong, perennial playooff contender vs a bottom feeder....not necessarily the case here...

ravens coming off an embarrassment on prime time t.v.vs a team that many figure to be a super bowl fave.....they face an almost "must win" divisional game (at home)......on the day in which the team is officially celebrating it`s super bowl win...

in years past, ibelieve that the ravens looked at a browns home game as almost an afterthought(you see it almost every week in the nfl)...they`ve owned the browns and i don`t believe that there was always 100% focus on the cleveland games at home....

yes,the ravens definitely have issues...but the browns also have serious issues(as witnessed by their loss at home to the dolphins last week)......

whether the ravens are limited to the point that they can`t get it together for an important home conference game(coming off an embarrassing nat`l tv loss) is the question.....

one thing i do believe is that they will be focused after 10 days preparation....

i believe this game might be a pretty good indicator as to whether this team has any real playoff aspirations ...we`ll see whether last week`s first half or second half is more indicative of what the ravens actually bring to the table...

should be interesting...
