CLEEEEAR!!

The Ravens are 0-3 for the first time in franchise history. Individually, they played 2 really good teams and almost won. They also played an Oakland team (with a fantastic young QB) on the 2nd leg of a back to back west coast trip (at Denver, at Oakland) that is just murderous and unfair for any team. Bottom line the Ravens are really an excellent 0-3 team.

Motivation? When the schedule came out, I told my buddy that if we can somehow be 4-4 going into the bye week, that we would be in great shape. Lets look at the next 5 weeks for the Ravens. At a Big Ben-less Steelers (win-able), Home vs Browns (win-able), at San Fran (win-able), at Arizona (prob loss), Home vs Chargers (win-able). The Ravens, if they can play they way they are capable, can be looking at 3-3 and then 4-4 at the bye week. Beginning with the Chargers, the Ravens play 6 of 8 at home, where they have been incredibly tough to beat if you don't have Bengal stripes on. Their season is far from over. Remember the 2014 season when the Steelers went 0-4 and if not for a KC shanked field goal, would have made the playoffs?

The Steelers have not rushed the ball very effectively the last 2 games. With Vick under center, the Steelers MUST produce a good ground game. That falls into the one strength of the Ravens defense. The Ravens have not allowed 100 rushing yards so far this year, allowing only 3.3 yards/ carry, The Steelers are only averaging 3.1 per carry on offense. With Big Ben at the helm, that doesn't matter as much. With Vick, this forces him to be a pocket passer, and we know that's not his strength.

With that being said, this will inevitably be a tough, close game like it always is. I have to go with the Ravens here. They are a desperate team with a very good QB (750 yards last 2 weeks). Unfortunately for the Steelers, Vick is starting. He will do well and probably really shine at moments. However, he is no Big Ben and in this rivalry, Big Ben is needed.

Prediction: Ravens 27 Steelers 19

CLEEEEAR!!

Thursday Night

Ravens -2.5 (-127) WIN (never in doubt)
-Please buy down to 2.5 if necessary. So many of these games in this series are 3 point finals.
-Ravens have lost 3 straight weeks ATS. Teams on that 4th week are dangerous
-Steelers have covered 3 straight weeks (some pushed vs Pats).
-Losing Shazier is a big deal for Pitt

"the bunker"
line has me confused.....I know ben`s out......but this is in Pittsburgh at night.....and this isn`t even remotely the same ravens` team that beat the steelers in Pittsburgh in the playoffs last year....

no ngata...no torrey smith(and no replacement)...no pernell McPhee....they just ruled out starting tight end crockett gillmore who took over for departed owen daniels (along with steve smith the only two offensive players having solid seasons).... starting left tackle Eugene Monroe also out for his 3rd straight week along with def tackle chris canty...Monroe`s back-up hurst is consistently grading out as the worst left tackle in the league.....lol

suggs out for the year....

now that`s a whole lotta experience and leadership kaput...not to mention losing gary kubiak as our offensive coordinator(the guy`s zone blocking schemes turned forsett from a perennial bench warmer into Wilbert Montgomery II....now he`s reverted back to his previous benchwarming self).........matter of fact the entire offense last year was about as good as it`s ever been under kubiak.....he`s been sorely missed....

our secondary can`t hold a lead (we took leads in the 4th qtr last week at home vs cincy and they scored two successive td`s to take back the lead in get this....12 seconds and 100 seconds).....and those were length of the field drives.....

in last year`s playoff loss, pitt missed lay-vee-awn bell but he`s back for this one.....vick`s capable of having good games and our pass rush isn`t exactly a worldbeater without suggs taking attention away from dumervil....

I think the wrong team may be favored here......having our backs against the wall didn`t seem to matter the last two weeks( at Oakland and at home vs cincy)......

this team is struggling and "at Pittsburgh with revenge" is not the perfect place to right the ship(ben or no ben)....they have so many more weapons than we do....

Two very well thought out, and articulated write ups. The degenerate side of me wants to pick a side, but I'm thinking there will better options on Sunday. Thanks for posting!

I think the game comes down to Vick's ability to make passes over 10 yards. That's how you beat the Ravens. The stars of the Ravens defense are the linebackers. Baltimore has given up only 2 rushes over 9 yards this season. Their opponents average barely over 3 yards a carry (3.2).

The way to beat the Ravens is to attack the secondary. Can Vick do it? I have to wager on the NO.

Sunday Morning

Miami -1 loss
Jets are over rated. Their offense will have loads of problems with the Dolphins.

Bonus Play 11:30am start

Bayern Munchen -1 vs Dortmund (German Soccer) win
This is a rivalry that pales the Ravens / Steelers rivalry. Right now, Bayern has the 2 hottest strikers in the World, Robert Lewandowski has 10 goals in his last 3 matches, including a 5 goal spurt in less than 9 minutes!. That's the equivalent of a Running Back getting 5 touchdowns in 1 quarter, its just unheard of. His teammate, Thomas Muller, has scored in 4 of their last 5 matches and is a real Jolly Roger on the pitch. The reigning champs. Bayern Munchen, is on a roll right now and get it done .

1pm Plays:

KC +4 loss
Bengals in a soft spot with a big lead early. KC the more desperate team

Bears +3 win
Raiders in a difficult spot. 2nd leg of back to back road games and in a very rare road favorite position. Raiders defense very soft

NYGiants +6.5 win
To beat the Giants you must pass the ball effectively. Can Tyrod win the game?

Houston +5 loss
Texans can run against the Falcons. Expecting a very close game

Carolina -3 win
Winston needs to prove it to me.
