i was going to read this whole thread but wanted to finish the novel i am reading and return it to the library before it is overdue. could you please list your plays for this weekend , starting with your strongest one. thanks and good luck

My list of plays for the most part are always listed on 1st page of the thread. POST #1. I edit and try and put all my add on plays there except for 2h wagers. Then it gets too confusing. Not many plays this weekend but a ton of units being wagered! I am very confident in UL and Idaho is more of a gut play for me that I think will hit. It has to hit. Taking Hawaii is too fawking easy and sportsbooks are getting overwhelmed with UH bets. Vegas knew very well that UH would be hit hard if they made Idaho 3pt favorites. Now it is near pk. :) Why did they do that intentionally? I'll take a 6unit win! V-Tech I have huge coaching mismatch and if Ball doesn't play this should be easy winner. But if Ball plays, I still like V-Tech. G-Tech is not a well coached team and they have a very poor red zone offense. V-Tech should dominate both sides of the ball. V-Tech wins by 17 with G-Tech scoring TD late in the 4th!

YTD Results
+ 2.85 units ($500 unit)
+ $1,425

Sat. plays

16 units
Louisville -20 over South Florida (13 units)
Louisville -19.5 over South Florida (3 units)

6 units
Idaho -2.5 over Hawaii (4 units)
Idaho -1 over Hawaii (2 units)

2 units
Virginia Tech -10 over G-Tech

Scott,

What do you think about the SC-Oregon over? I already took it, but am really thinking about pounding the *hit out of it. SC should score 50+ against Oregon - and we know Oregon will get it's scores - whether it be exchanging scores w/SC keeping it competitive or in garbage time against SC scrubs. Just read this on ESPN and its more fuel for my over fire:

...Oregon's switch to a spread offense appears to have gone well. The Ducks have averaged 490.7 yards and 40.7 points in starting 3-0. But it won't help in one fashion. The old-school way to stop an explosive offense like the one belonging to No. 1 USC is to keep it off the field. Reggie Bush can't dance away from anyone if he's standing next to coach Pete Carroll.

Oregon isn't built for chewing up the clock. It's the opposite -- the Ducks don't even like to huddle.

"We're out quick," Clemens said. "We try to keep the pressure on the defense. Our main goal is to score. If we need to slow it down and huddle and milk down the play clock, we'll do it. That doesn't fit too well."

That, in turn, means the Ducks' defense will have to play better than it has in the first three games. Fresno State quarterback Paul Pinegar became Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week after going 33 of 43 for 418 yards and three touchdowns in Oregon's 37-34 victory last Saturday....

Adding 2 units North Carolina/NC State Under 45 (pinny)

Adding 2 units Iowa/Ohio State Over 40.5 (betmill)

Adding 2 units Michigan/Wisconsin OVER 46.5 (mybookie)

Adding 1 unit Purdue +4 -110 over Minnesota (betmill)

Adding 1 unit UNLV/Utah State Over 48.5 (pinny)

:scared :scared :scared

HUGE HUGE day tom. for me. Originally I was only going to wager 3-4 games this weekend but after capping some totals I found 4 I really love. Last year I maybe wagered on 3 totals all year. This year I am 2-1 on totals for I think a +2 unit profit. Took me 15min. to just put these bets in. I just put these bets in so the lines should still be the same if you choose to jump on board. BTW, I am very confident in UL! GOY! Already counting that a winner and I will post small additional write-up.

I strongly urge EVERYONE to open an account with betmill (millenium sportsbook). it is a sponsor of madjacks and they are offering I think a 25% bonus + $100 free bet. But on top of that you get free half pt EVERY friday on all sides and totals. No restrictions on wager amounts. Only problem with me is I put majority of my bets in before Friday but was able to capitalize on great value with 2 plays today with Betmill. Take the free $$$ (to make up for a bad day) and take the free 1/2 pts to increase your chances of winning! Only rule is you can't go on or off the number 3. There is my plug to join a MJ sponsor to benefit yourself and the site! :)

I really like Wisconsin over Michigan but I am not sure what I am going to do. Before the lines came out I was hoping Wiscy to be +4.5 underdogs.

Good luck to everyone! I am so pissed the UL games starts the same time the USC game. :cursin: I will only get to watch parts of the UL game. :( Since I expect a 35pt Cardinal victory, there won't be much to watch.

Maybe I should pull out the machine gun for tom. Posters seem to go crazy over it! j/k :)

Scott,

What do you think about the SC-Oregon over? I already took it, but am really thinking about pounding the *hit out of it.

I predict USC wins 51-27. So I do think the game goes over the total. But betting an OVER with a PETE CARROLL D might not be a bet you want to POUND. Especially if you are thinking of unloading on it. I'll give you some reasons "not" to unload. For me personally, when I unload on a game, i want everything my way. Take it for what its worth.

You have to realize Carroll is a defensive genius. Now USC enters the game depleted at the DB position. I mean DEPLETED! USC will have good depth next week against ASU but this week they might be bringing walk ons to backup at DB. No joke. But the talent at DB is no different than the talent he had at DB the last 3+ years. No major difference.

Now you mentioned USC/Oregon in slugfest it might go over. Good reasoning. BUT one thing to warn you. CARROLL! :mj07: Against Stanford last year @Stanford USC ran basic defense and Stanford scored and got good lead on USC. In the 2h Carroll made adjustments + started throwing in his blitz packages. Guess what? Stanford NEVER crossed the 50 yard line in 2h and USC came back and won! Carroll been using very basic stuff on O and D this year. So if USC gets in close game or down, Carroll will be forced to unleash his packages that is team is equipped with. Oregon has nobody on their side of the field smarter than Carroll. CAL does have Tedford who is just as smart!

Here is the #1 reason I wouldn't pound the OVER. USC D and Oregon O. Oregon O can and will move the ball on USC D. That is a FACT! But Oregon will have an extremely difficult time scoring on USC inside the redzone. Guess what? Oregon has been a HORRIBLE red zone offense this year kicking 11 FG's in their first 2 games of year. USC excels in red zone defense. Carroll motto is stop run, don't give up big plays, give up short stuff. Let them march down field and make a mistake. Once inside 20, the field shrinks on them! It works like a charm for 3+ years.

Now add this all up. Oregon driving the field kicking FG's 3pts in exchange for time off clock. Now USC might score in 1min. drives but USC also can score running the ball. What if USC decides to use smash mouth football? USC can easily have 6+min. drives with lendale white. Keeps Oregon O off field and rests USC D. USC has the #1 OL int he country IMO.

Let me tell you. I think there is a 25% chance USC knocks QB Clemons out of the game. There is an 80% chance Clemons takes a beating. Oregon has an INEXPERIENCED, BIG, SLOW OL.

One thing people seem to forget about USC in the first two games. Their entire 1st team (offense and defense) played only 2.5 quarters in each game. How many points COULD USC have scored in each? Take out the sloppy points by both opponents against SC's 2nd, third and sometimes 4th string and I think you might see an even more impressive performance.

What could USC do if the 1st string played a full game?

Then again, USC could put 70 on the board themselves and you will be happy! :) To be honest, I would not be surprised if USC scored over 60pts. But I also wouldn't be surprised if USC scored in the 30's if they chose to focus running the ball.

IMO I lean the OVER but would not make it a big bet for the reasons above. Plus Oregon is a very tough road environment, so USC might not be crisp on offense on first 2 series. But I think USC's gameplan will be to SCORE FAST on Oregon and get up on them. So that bodes well for the OVER.

Either way I think this goes over. If SC pounds the hell out of them, they'll put 50, 60, 70 on the board and Oregon will still score some against the 1st team USC D/Competitive portion of the game and will score more in trash time = over. If the game is tight, it won't be because Oregon suddenly found a defense. It will be back and forth with both these teams offenses rolling in which case it will get close to the over by halftime.

I didn't realize that Oregon was so bad this year in the red zone though. That worries me but I'm still playing the over.

Louisville -20 over South Florida is my GOY! :hitit:

Additional analysis on Louisville over South Florida

I think South Florida will be without 2 DB's against Louisville. DB Verpaele and DB Brant. Both were counted on for contribution prior to the season. More specifically, DB Brant I believe was supposed to be USF's starting nickleback. He is out for sure!

In addition to that, USF at safety is very young and overall their secondary is inexperienced. I think USF has only 1 starter in their secondary with experience.

Can you see where I am getting at,;) USF is in trouble against Lousiville's high powered offense. UL has an excellent passing attack lead by an extremely talented QB. BTW, UL has a balanced offensive attack too, so it makes things more difficult because IMO USF is not real strong at DL.

So lets see how USF defense has prepared for this UL passing attack. For starters how about practice? NO! USF is a horrible passing team. Lets see their first 3 opponents. @Penn St., Florida A&M, Central Florida. NOPE! None of those teams come close to having the passing attack of UL. Good luck USF!

South Florida against FAMU had 56 rushes for 377 yards, against UCF 66 rushes for 326. Where is the passing? Is USF waiting to face UL to bring out their passing attack? IMO you don't wait until a big game to try out the passing game. :nono: You can't help but predict a passing game from USF that will be very out of synch against Louisville. INT's anyone? Dropped passes? :yup

The strength of USC offense is their rushing attack where they have an excellent RB. Unfortunately for USC, the strength of the UL defense is their RUSH D! UL also is excellent in getting pressure on the QB! The weakness of the UL D is their pass defense. Fortunately for UL, USF can't pass. USG will be forced to pass when UL jumps on them. If you didn't know, USF's passing attack is almost the WORST in Div I-A, averaging only 137 yards per game.:mj02:

I mentioned in me other write-up why UL will be motived. Here is some additional stuff. It is a Big East conf. game. UL did lose to USC in OT last time they played down there. Most importantly, on Wed. the Interactive Harris poll will be used for the BCS ranking. LOUISVILLE MUST BLOW OUT USF! :yup

***************************************
Below is my original write-up why I love Louisville in case you missed it.

***************************************

Louisville :padlock:

I have played 16 big units on Louisville -20 @ South Florida. This line opened @ -22, and USF with their victory over UCF last week has helped move this line in my favor. I'll explain why I am so confident.

Of the 2 QB?s USF uses, neither has been, can, or shows any sign of any time soon of producing even a decent passing game, which in reality is the only way a team can expect to score with any consistency against UL. Why do I say this? UL we all know has one of the best offenses in the country and they can put pts up in a hurry. USF can?t pass and you need to pass to get back in a game if a team jumps on you. USF rushes the ball decent but Louisville is ranked #5 in the country against the rush allowing only 44.5 yards per game and 1.4 RYAD.
HC Bobby Petrino knows that going 12-0 may not be good enough to get into National championship Game, even though other teams will have 1 loss. He has to have on his teams resume this season away wins of 30+points, beat West Virginia in Morgantown, and continue to completely overpower everyone else for a shot at the championship and big bucks for his school, the sinking Big East, and also for himself. He has the horses to do this against teams like USF whose home field advantage is non existent.

What is really particularly interesting is the opening line for the total in this game was 60, and now is 62.5. Who do you think will add points to this total?????? Louisville or USF?

Louisville is ranked # 7 in scoring offense averaging 47 points per game. USF is 1-10 ATS when they allow 21 or more pts! As I mentioned above, USF success against weaklings UCF and Div 1-AA have come via the ground with neither QB used having any success via the air even against this poor level of competition, they average only 137 yards per game and their passing defense is the only minor chink in UL's armor.

The first quarter especially this season against Oregon State and UK especially has been the only negative in this UL team, and all week according to the papers, HC Bobby Petrino has emphasized and challenged his team to put in a first quarter like they have in their second quarters the past two games when they have outscored their opponents 49-0 combined, allowing just 6 first downs combined, and holding teams to a -23 yds rushing combined.

Louisville is 8-1 ATS away vs an opponent off double digit SU win, and in a bigger picture they are 41-9 ATS when they win SU away.

20pt spread is a large number to cover so I really need motivation from UL to cover it. I think I covered that but here is the final touch to why Louisville will try and bury USF and put on an impressive performance. Louisville has the most active alumni chapter in Tampa, and as of today the AD, and several other school officials are in Tampa doing fundraisers, etc, and an expected 7,000+ tickets have been sold to UL supporters. Moreover 3/4 of the coaching staff arrives Thur. and will travel across the state to recruit in advance of Saturday?s game. This is a huge game for UL in so many ways as a lot of their blue chip players come from the state of Florida. UL NEEDS TO WIN BIG TO IMPRESS! Impress recruits! Impress polls! Impress the large # of UL fans at the game!

The weather in Tampa on Saturday evening is supposed to be ideal and calm. UL makes a huge statement Saturday night, and it doesn't hurt that some Cardinal players remember what happened in this stadium 2 years ago (an outright loss in OT). USF is 1-4 ATS vs opponent with revenge! HC Petrino has worked all week to turn up the screws on defense, and his team will respond.

I have been burned twice this year with refs. This is a Big East conference game so their shouldn't be any referee shenanigans. On a positive not, USF has been the most penalized team in Division -1A FB the past 4 years anyway.

An added bonus........

Louisville is 11-5 ATS last 16 games as conf. away favorites

Go Cardinals!

Scott - Agree with you on Louisville and will ride with you - they are my favorite team to bet on as they are so explosive! They should definitely score over 40 points and I dont think S Fla will score above 20 at all. Good Luck! You have any thoughts on the Miami/Colorado game - I for some reason really like Miami -14

Glad you agree with UL. They are explosive but more importantly they go for the kill against opponents. They love to bury them and I am hoping they do it tom. There is more than enough motivation for UL to bury USF and I loves the matchups on the field in favor of UL. I think UL was 4-0 ATS as 21-24pt favorites last year and 2/4 games were on the road! :) UL wins by 35pts! Tulah liking UL made me add 3 units! ;)

I lean to Miami -14 but not touching it. I am not a fan of Coker. Miami isn't UL. They have the talent but they don't get the most of it. UL does and that is why they often blow out opponents. Miami often plays down to the level of their competition. But no way would I back CO. I took Clemson last week over Miami.

Yea completely agree - Why do you like Wisc tomm? I really think Mich will beat Wisc by 7-10 points tomm and that is one of my big plays for the day. I think Michigan has the talent to be great and although they havent showed it yet, tomm on the road in a tough environment I really think they will handle business and get a much needed win. You coming to the ASU game next wkend should be a good one - upset special.

No not going to USC/ASU game. I don't go to many away USC games. @Stanford 2 times and Rose Bowl. Thats it. Although I go to all the NC games! :) ASU better not ruin my dream season with USC! :)

Here is why I like Wisconsin.

Wisconsin :thumb:

People don't realize Wisky didn't have their top two D-lineman last week in Chapel Hill against UNC and will have them ready this weekend in Madison. The fallacy that a coach cannot bring a defense higher than the ability of its players is being disproved by DC Brett Bielma of Wisconsin. Like I mentioned above, both starting Dt's for Wiscy were out last week and one of the replacements number was even on the roster, and he weighed a whopping 240 pounds! :scared You know how many yards Wisconsin gave up? 57 yards rushing!

This is the same DC for Kansas State 3 years ago(when they had a defense). Wisconsin can be torched through the air, but that situation is improving. Wiscy LB's are solid. Wisconsin will be able to run the ball against Michigan, HC Barry Alvarez interviewed after the UNC game told the reporter that Brian Calhoun had one of his poorer games(although he gained 178 yds), and they have not opened their playbook up yet.

I think Wisconsin will win this game outright but really not a lot of value @ +127. I was hoping for +200!!!! I was going to make Wiscy a big play over Michigan. Vegas has given a borderline spread. I will stick with UL as my GOY! But love Wiscy in this spot!

lol, i just gotta laugh at that other guys post about you butting into everyone's business. For that matter I actually don't mind if you state you opinions as long as you do it tastefully. As for your picks I think the only one we both agree on is Wisconsin, but its not one of my better plays. Just think that home field advantage wil play a big part in Wisconsin's win.

Looking forward to the Hawaii game though, its time to redeem yourself after that oregon/houston game. And you better hope Idaho wins or i might just think about fading all your picks...nah i know you put alot of time into researching the games. just don't think u have all the facts about hawaii right, because there are lots of intangilbles about them that I can't explain. Them being ont eh road isn't what worries me about them because I know for a fact that they are over that with the departure of timmy. The thing that worries me about them is the nagging injuries, more so to SB Ilaoa as the other players can be replaced. Ilaoa will definately play, but dunno how effective he will be. anyways will post my plays soon

You gotta be worried about how many will turn out at the Orange Bowl. From what I understand ,not many will be there.

IMO Colorado +14 is a gift.

Madjack took away my privileges of posting in other peoples threads. Never told me why and I have done NOTHING wrong. Posters even posted on this site saying they agreed with me and respect me for posts I made LAST NIGHT! I broke zero site rules. Never bashed or made negative comments to ANYONE! MJ never gave me any explanation for this ban. According to MJ own rules, if you bash someone in handicapping forum, it is an offense to be banned. Fletcher said Fuk you to me. Lets see how honorable Madjack is with his word? It is MJ's site so he can do whatever he wants for whatever reason he wants, but I always thought he was an honorable man did the right and fair thing. Why did I get a semi ban? There is no evidence of me breaking any of MJ rules and never did I make personal attacks to anyone. I can show you MJ letting OTHER posters get away with PERSONAL ATTACKS in the handicapping forum. But if he wants special rules for me, that is his decision I can't do anything about. He didn't have the decency to send me an e-mail or offer any explanation. It is not fair and until I get a well thought out explanation I will refrain from contributing to the forum. If you don't think I contribute to the forum, no loss! I will not stand for this. I will not take part in these silly posting rules. Especially when I don't think I have done anything wrong and have been offered NO EXPLANATION! Good luck to everyone and this might be my last thread at madjacks! :( Hopefully I go out a winner! :) It has been a fun ride!

Fight On!!!!!!!!!!

PS. It is sad adults on MADJACKSPORTS can't handle constructive criticism. Because that is the only thing I am guilty of other than posting picks with analysis. Madjack prob. received 20+ e-mails begging for my ban. Well they got a semi ban and I will finish it off if things are not corrected. Posters are finally going to get what they always wanted! Congrats!

Sorry to hear that Scott (if you are indeed leaving the forum) as I read most of your stuff, usually filled with good info .... probably because you corrected people's records and seem to get under people's skin for some reason .... you should continue to post your plays and analysis as it does provide value IMO, good luck on Louisville game.
