Ravens +1

Wrong team favored. Statistically Ravens should be 3-4 point favorites for this game, maybe more because of the additional injuries the Bengals picked up on Sunday vs the Colts. Bengals much more banged up than the Ravens for this game.

Teams going in complete opposite directions.

Ravens give up the least amount of points in the NFL at 15 per game and Bengals giving up 23+. Ravens scoring 27+ and Bengals only 22.

I could say a lot more about the game but will leave it at that - and I'll be accused of being the homer but this game is as easy of a winner as the Bengals/Colts pick.

I'm going out on the limb and will risk eating the crow but Ravens will score 24+ points and the Bengals won't score 15.

This is a gift.

This one's a gift too, the line just came out at Bookmaker at -3 -105. This is better than the Ravens play but they both cash easily.

Colts -3 -105

Pittsburgh doesn't have a chance in hell.

Colts beating up the AFC North until the playoffs. :0003

I love the Colts and I think you are right about the Ravens, too. The only thing is that it will most likely be a battle IF Green can play and IF he is effective. I don't see him playing though. Good luck this week, Jack. :toast:

I'm really looking forward to Sunday, should be profitable and fun!.

Where I watch the games should really be hopping too. The most watched teams there are Colts, of course, Bengals, Steelers, and Bears.

Good luck! :toast:

[h=1]The Ravens Need to Run Through The Jungle![/h]The Cincinnati Bengals, a team that was once an automatic ?W? and a divisional doormat.
The Cincinnati Bengals, a team that once produced more annual arrests than wins.
The Cincinnati Bengals, a team that turned the corner a few years ago, and are now a formidable opponent.
Today those same Cincinnati Bengals stand between the Baltimore Ravens and a controlling position in the AFC North.
In recent years the Ravens have struggled against the Bengals. Since John Harbaugh and Joe Flacco came onto the scene the Ravens are 7-6 against Marvin Lewis & Co. During some of those games we have been witnesses to a few of Joe Flacco?s worst career performances.
Consider these noteworthy stats during the Harbaugh era when the Ravens take on the Bengals:

 • In 13 career games Joe Flacco has thrown 13 TD passes and 18 interceptions leading to a passer rating of 69.8. Against the rest of the league Flacco?s career rating is 86.8.
 • During those 13 games Flacco has been sacked 29 times.
 • In the Ravens 7 victories Flacco?s passer rating is 93.2 while averaging just 27 attempts.
 • In the Ravens 6 losses Flacco has had an average of 37 pass attempts.
 • The Ravens average margin of victory in the 7 wins is 13.
 • The Ravens average margin of loss in the 7 defeats is 8.
Thirteen games is a decent sampling size and if you can take anything away from the stats above, know that the Ravens are very effective against the Bengals when they operate from a balanced attack and don?t force Joe Flacco to chuck it 35-plus times.
If this isn?t enough evidence to concede that the Ravens need to run the football in Cincinnati then consider this. During their last 4 games the Bengals have surrendered 172 yards rushing ON AVERAGE to teams that collectively rank 19th in the league running the football.
The Ravens are the league?s 7th ranked rushing offense and they?ll need to act like it on Sunday. They need to commit to the run, believe in it and grind away at the league?s 31st ranked defense, 30th against the run. They need to resist the temptation to have Joe Flacco chuck it around on a mild, sunny day that will invite the pass.
Don?t do it!
During the Ravens last three meetings with the Bengals Flacco has thrown it an average of 49 times per game. That?s a losing formula.
The Ravens must go smash mouth on the Bengals. They must neutralize the A-gap blitzing and stay out of empty backfield situations with unaccounted for edge rushers.
Run the football!
If they do the Ravens can send a message to their divisional rivals and to the rest of the league.
And a win will allow them to control their own destiny.
Play like they played in Baltimore against the Bengals or in Indy against the Colts and chuck it all over the place, and they?ll return home as just another box of chocolates ? an inconsistent team from which ?you just never know what you?re gonna git.?

[h=2]Ravens Boast Four Top-Rated Outside Linebackers[/h]Posted 15 hours ago

Ryan MinkBaltimoreRavens.com Staff Writer@Ravens All Ryan Mink Articles

[h=3]Bengals Head Coach Marvin Lewis says the Ravens have four Pro Bowlers at outside linebacker.[/h]
22_OLBsBest_news.jpg

Watching film of the Ravens, Head Coach Marvin Lewis? eyes fall on the outside linebackers.
?I don?t know if I?ve ever seen four guys like that on one football team ? I know I haven?t,? Lewis said.
Lewis said all four Ravens outside linebackers are playing at a Pro Bowl level: Terrell Suggs , Elvis Dumervil ,Pernell McPhee and Courtney Upshaw .
Lewis isn?t just praising the group because he?s trying to flatter his upcoming opponent. The analysis and game tape backs it up.
The Ravens can make a strong argument for having the best single position group in the NFL.
According to Pro Football Focus, three of the top five outside linebackers in the league wear purple and black.
Suggs is the top-rated outside linebacker in a 3-4 system (19.6). Dumervil is third at 15.6 and McPhee is fifth at 15.2. Upshaw comes in at No. 31; he?s never been a player that draws rave reviews from outsiders. However, opposing coaches and players, know his value.
There are a bunch of great duos across the NFL, but nobody has a single position that can compare to the Ravensoutside linebackers.
?The four of them can make more plays on accident than a lot of people can make on purpose,? Ravens Linebackers Coach Ted Monachino said. ?We?ve got four rare dudes there.?
The fearsome foursome was on full display last weekend against the Atlanta Falcons. They tormented quarterback Matt Ryan, and essentially took over the game. McPhee and Dumervil each notched two sacks. Suggs put the cherry on top with his first career safety late in the fourth quarter.
<nflcs:avplayer data-contentid="1a124bdf-d8d9-4081-831f-f372ee51546a" data-width="384" data-alignment="right" data-autoplay="false" data-pr="0" data-adtagsuffix=";player=embedded" data-playername="teamsite-embed" class="right" style="float: right; margin: 10px 0px 10px 10px; width: 384px; height: 216px;">

</nflcs:avplayer>What makes them so great together is that they?re all different.
?We have a lot of guys with dominant traits,? outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil said. ?We do what we do well.?
Suggs is the leader because he does everything. Monachino called him ?the best linebacker in football.?
?There are some guys that have a single dominant trait, and there are some guys that are way above average in more than one,? Monachino said. ?Then there are the rare ones like Terrell Suggs that are an elite run stopper, an elite pass rusher and an elite under coverage player.?
Lewis had high praise for the 2011 Defensive Player of the Year, as well. Suggs only has 2.5 sacks through six games, but he does a lot more than just bring the quarterback down.
?Obviously Terrell, since the 2003 season, has just been a fine, great, great player, as he reminds me every time we play him ? both by telling me and his play,? Lewis said with a laugh.
The player who?s primary job is to sack the quarterback is Dumervil. The Ravens signed him last offseason and told him they would help him elongate his career by simply hunting the quarterback.
Dumervil is training to do more in the demanding system, but Baltimore mostly lets him simply do what he does best. He leads the Ravens with seven sacks, tied for second-most in the league.
?He still knows that when he puts his hand down, he?s a different animal than the rest of [the Ravens outside linebackers],? Monachino said.
The man who allows Elvis to be Elvis is Upshaw. Upshaw does a lot of the grunt work for the defense, similar to what Jarret Johnson unselfishly did in Baltimore for years.
The Ravens? top draft pick in 2012, Upshaw is used whenever there are two or fewer receivers on the field. Thus, he often starts ahead of Dumervil when opponents are looking to establish the run early on.
?He has the combination of size, length, strength, and I think you want to keep his football IQ toward the top of the list,? Monachino said. ?The things that Courtney is asked to do, he never blinks, and he does them at a very efficient level nearly every snap he?s in the game.?
Last but not least is the newcomer to the list, and perhaps the biggest wild card of them all ? McPhee. After being hampered by injuries the past two years, McPhee is having his finest season yet. He has four sacks and is drawing just as many ? if not more ? double teams as Suggs and Dumervil.
McPhee is taking on and beating centers, guards and tackles as he lines up all over Baltimore?s defensive formation. His raw athleticism allows him to win a lot of different matchups.
?His dominance happens inside the two tackles whereas the other three, their dominance happens outside the two tackles,? Monachino said. ?He?s a rugged, tough, smart football player that we can do a lot of things with. He?s hard to handle.?
Since they all have a specific role, the Ravens are able to rotate their outside linebackers, or use them at the same time. Baltimore often has three outside linebackers on the field with McPhee inside.
Against Carolina, the Ravens had a snap count that?s very rarely seen at the position. McPhee led the unit with 42 snaps, Dumervil had 40, Suggs had 36 and Upshaw had 35.
The players don?t even consult Monachino when going in and out of the game. They know certain packages they?re used in, but they handle substitutions themselves.
?That never happens,? Monachino said. ?There?s no drop-off in our depth.?
In the meeting rooms, Monachino said there?s not a coach-to-player or player-to-coach dialogue. There?s just dialogue, like they?re all just talking football and fixing problems that arise before anybody else even knows there isan issue.
?Ted is just a really good technical coach. He coaches the [crap] out of us ? in the classroom and on the field,? Dumervil said. ?And every day we come to work, we have guys that are mature enough to accept the coaching.?
There?s always a fun race to get the sacks. But with so many quality outside linebackers, the competition is ramped up a notch.
When McPhee got the Ravens? first sack on Sunday, Suggs asked what move he used on his blocker. When Dumervil got one later, Suggs tossed him to the ground in celebration. Finally, the leader got his at the end with the safety.
?We?re unselfish, but we?re selfish when the ball is snapped. We want to get there first,? Dumervil said. ?But at the end of the day, we?re like brothers and everybody knows their role.?
So do the Ravens indeed have the NFL?s best position group?
The challengers are Denver?s wide receivers of Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders and Wes Welker, Jets? defensive ends Muhammad Wilkerson and Sheldon Richardson, Buffalo?s defensive tackles Marcell Dareus and Kyle Williams.
?Not being in 31 other position rooms, I wouldn?t trade my four for any four out there,? Monachino said.

Ravens TE Owen Daniels is out this week and that really bothers me. It maybe bothers me enough to buy part of my bet back or maybe even all of it. He's been a key go to man with Pitta out for the season. Shit! I'll let you know what I do, FWIW.

my man...I`m not 100% sure about this.......we are getting osemele and Monroe back on the o line.....
BUT,owen daniels is down ..he`s been flacco`s security blanket...no doubt green a bigger loss for the bungles....still,that doesn`t mitigate what daniels meant to this offense....

I`ll take flacco over Dalton 6 days of the week(and twice on sunday).....but we were very lucky to escape Cleveland with a road victory....

this has danger written all over it....I`m surprised you`re so confident about a divisional road game...

hoping jusczyk, gilmore and campanaro step up....

we`re good...and getting better...but these back to back divisional road games(vs steelers and bengals) are very difficult...I`d take a split in a heartbeat...

I wish we had daniels available...kubiak`s offense is heavily dependent on tight ends....maybe Gilmore has a breakout game......he has talent....

:toast:

btw..pernell McPhee is the best defensive player nobody`s heard of in the nfl.....he`s versatile and strong as an ox.....they need to resign that mofo,....a future star...

I do like Ravens in this spot but could very well go either way. Sort of like expecting my Cowboys to cover an eleven point spread on Monday night = coin flip.....

Not questioning your concern, Jack, just an FYI that Balt is -2 (-105) at Pinny right now. The line is not exactly dropping like a rock. Daniels out probably just makes a smidgen of difference to the line, you obviously have given it greater weight than the books do.

I've got them +11 at the tail end of a teaser with Dallas pk, so it doesn't bother me bother me bother me.... :popcorn2

Don't you think your team has the coaching and grit to adjust to that loss? Maybe take it as a tradeoff of him for Green? :0008
