Pt1gard, curious about your thoughts of the huskies going into the canyon. my feeling is that the husky defense is miserable and finally went up against a team with a semblence of an offense (and usc is included in the group that have weak offenses). they got exposed and i think cal manhandles them start to finish. bonnell will have no answer and i think it will be a long ass day for the huskies. 23 points is alot, but not enough unless we get to garbaage scores late, playing the first half large and game for about 1/2 as much.

feel for stanback, i think he may have been given an opportunity to play qb at the next level. now it is wr or no paycheck.

thanx anil, tho the bears let me down as my 2nd play ... but what a great game to watch for drama :) ...

collegecapper

despite the UW covering 5xs in a row (maybe a push in OU, i cant recall) b4 Beavs toyed with them in seattle, they are definitely improved but i still think they are a house of cards, and have shot at bowl if they beat someone other than trees ... stanbeck was great athlete, horrible mechanics and will never play nfl qb, maybe cfl or the one where they let crap carom off nets ...

i hate laying so many pts but i do one 10-pter each week and Ill play CAL with that ... gun to head I say 42-14, b/c Cal cant be happy with 21 LW after getting +40 in 5 previous ...

I took Cal +1 at usc in future, a lot of that is i love tedford and feel usc is very avg. on offense; I know they are missing wrs but I havent seen a lady finger's worth of explosion from them all year ... too bad usc doesnt have to go to eugene or berekley this year, if they somehow make it to Nat. Championship game it will be a joke .. on neutral field right now I can think of min. of 6 teams Id take over them off top of head

hope some of this helps
gregg :)

thx pt1, good info. while i really think cal beats usc, i am waiting to take oregon plus the points against the trojans. I think oregon can and will beat them.

serious talk in the city of tywill pulling the redshirt off of jake locker. maybe next week at home would be a good spot to get his feet wet, but then on the road to autzen. tough place for a true freshman to play, but i think the kid will do nicely for himself.

if he is as good as advertised, i guess there is no reason not to play him as he willl be off to the nfl after his 4th year anyway. i personally feel the dawgs beat only stanford and miss a bowl by a game. i have bet cal 1st half this week very, very hard. good luck with your 10 pter.

USC weak offense? INTERESTING. :mj03:

National Stats

The USC Offense is:
#25 in Total Yards (top 40 in both RUSH and PASS = balance)
#28 in Scoring (30ppg)

Offense: Turnovers Lost - #8 best in the country (#3 in Fumb, #8 in INT)

Also, impressive ball control stats for the USC Offense:

#9 - 1st downs per game
#5 - 3rd Down Conv (w/ only 6 games vs. 7 games for most teams)
#7 - 3rd Down Conversion Pct
#6 - 4th Down Conv (w/ only 6 games vs 7 for most others)
#13 - 4th Down Conv Pct
#8 - Time of Possession

This "weak" USC offense put up these stats facing the #1 rated strength of schedule which includes 3/6 games on the road! ALL BCS SCHOOLS!

Forget about inexperienced players and injuries. Forget about USC getting everyones best shot. Forget about scoring a min. 20pts in every game this season. Forget USC is 6-0 with this "weak" offense. Forget the #1 team in the country (Ohio St.) is ranked below USC in total offense! (USC played tougher SOS)

***Sometimes corrections are needed! I wouldn't want posters wrongly betting against USC thinking their offense is "weak." :nono:

Good luck with CAL. It should be a winner. CAL is looking great. Tedford would be smart to get starters out ASAP when game is in control. That would scare me a little.

i agree, but read my post again, the play is for the first half.

as for usc's offense, i guess you are right they probably have the best offense in the world. better than the indy colts last year. in light of such a dominating offense, it will be tough to explain why they end the regular season with 2 losses.

what do I know, only watched every one of their games and the popgun isnt impressing me ...

college capper

did you ever see jake play in HS? real deal period ... can run like the wind, tough, leader, great arm--all american kid etc ... led his team to state championship LY, knocking bellevue out for the first time in ages ... bellevue is the hs that embarrassed de lasalle and long beach poly in the last few years, altho a reported 30 of their players live out of district

A number of times, as I lived up in that part of the state for a few years and know his father and uncle fairly well. He is definitely the real deal, but my concern is that he averaged only 9 pass attempts/game his senior year. Probably a big learning curve to step in to a Pac-10 offense. But I just read this morning that he was running No. 2 behind Bonnell during the practice session that was open to the media. You never know, there is certainly a chance that Bonnell doesn't make it through the game at Cal as they will be coming after him in a big way. Going to be interesting.

Wrong.

My argument was USC doesn't have a "weak" offense.

Good luck with Cal 1h. :thumb:

dvlsu - any clue when the peach bowl tickets go on sale? lsu against wake forest is shaping up to be a great matchup. ive always appreciated the way chick-fil-a goes out of their way to sponsor a junior varsity bowl game on new years eve before the real games start on new years day.

I can't help the leading sports communication system in the world agrees with me!!! I knew it would hurt some of you that lack sports knowledge! Hey two losses in the SEC is better than any team outside the conference would fair(or equal to) in the SEC!! Dont think LSU will be in Atlanta and hope they are playing your team (whoever that maybe)!! You better hope they aren't!! :))

i dont have 'favorite teams'. thats what you dont understand. i watch every team and game with a critical eye.
and because of this lack of bias, i can objectively say that the sec is the best conference in the country .. and that southern cal would fit right in and compete for an sec championship every year.

as far as lsu goes, unless they run the table -- including road wins at tennessee and arkansas, theyll be eating chick-fil-a on new years eve again. its certainly possible they win out. theyre good enough. but pre-new years is again a distinct possibility.

i normally stay away from blanket statements, but ill make an exception here.

anyone who thinks southern cal wouldnt compete for an sec title every year is a fool. this isn't directed specifically at you, but if you fall into the group so be it. if you call yourself a handicapper, then that means you have to eliminate all your biases and your silly hatred for anything non-sec.

im not sure what your "85%" is in reference to.

top to bottom, sec is the best. auburn/lsu/florida is the best 1/2/3 conference trio in the country.

but on a neutral field, usc would beat some combination in 2 of the 3 (and prob be favored in all 3) ... and that alone speaks to their staying power and ability to match up with anyone, despite playing in a shitty conference.

I think USC would do just fine in the "mighty" SEC.

Lets see. For USC to fit in with the SEC teams....

In the SEC USC would play 8 home games a year! :142smilie

In the SEC USC would play directional schools! :142smilie

The average strength of schedule in the SEC is #41, while the Pac 10 #13, or USC's currect SOS which is #1. :scared

I think USC wants to play in the SEC! ITS EASIER! :mj07:

NO WAIT! If USC played in the SEC, they would have horrible BCS computer ranking. NOPE! USC doesn't want to play in that mighty SEC! You risk getting left out of the BCS NC game with their weak computer rankings.

USC won @AUBURN with QB making first career start, 23-0.

USC won @Arkansas with QB making first career start, 50-14.

Hostile environments? :142smilie

Arkansas came to USC and lost 70-17.
Auburn came to USC and lost 24-17.

Any other SEC teams want to flex their muscles against USC?

You are entitled to your opinions even if they are BS!!! Who cares: if, woulda, shoulda, coulda means squat!! USC plays in a pathetic conference and until they do play in the SEC(NEVER) you can't say they would do this or that!! Everyone knows its a weak conference except some bean heads!! By the way I do very well capping and have for over 20 years so dont need any help!! Putting up scores of two games out of three years playing 2 SEC teams shows your knowledge level there Scoot!! :) Play a whole SEC tilt then talk!! Your strengh of schedule BS is just that!! What a joke!! Talk to someone that knows nothing about sports so they will believe you!! You dont see commentaters on ESPN ever talking about the weakness of the SEC and I stress "NEVER"!!!! But do alot about the Pac-10 ummmm wake up and see the real world!! Tired of arguing this point so tune in to ESPN they will stress the truth about my facts!! :) :) :) :)
