I cap them backasswards now cause I usually just study half the card and do the other half (later races) between the early races while they are actullay running. I have to rush through the late races capping and those are usually the races that require more time.
Here's where I'm at -
10th race:
Go for the gusto, lobster tails, jackpot, whatever, race. Anybody remember what I wrote about trainer St. Lewis (don't all go for your keyboard at once.. LOL)? NO, I don't know how good the no. 5 hoss is; but I do know that he's now been away from trainer St. Lewis for about a month and shows it. He ran last (surprise, surprise) in his last 3 starts under the "care" of St. Lewis. In his last race, with new trainer, Orseno, who I don't think is that hot, and as expected - he improved dramatically by running 3RD AND it was in the same class as his last with Uriah. BTW, he got a poor start in his last race as well.... last and trailing by 15 lengths at at the first call and still got 3rd. Don't see that happening twice in a row to Montanez either.
I think he belongs at the claiming $7,500 level and I think he also belongs on the exacta tickets for today's race and maybe on a Win/Place/Show @3x in case poo poo happens for the zactas...
No. 5, Smaltownman, top/bot with 1,4,6,7,8,10. I don't expect to see him go off at his M.L. odds of 12-1 cause I think the majority of Philly Park betters/fans are loyal to Parx racing and prob. most of them know what I'm writing about. If ya don't like the angle - No.10 hoss is clearly the best ON PAPER in this race.
Oh, one mo thing - wanna see a Uriah St. Lewis hoss in action? ... .. watch the no. 9 in this race.
8th race:
doing the 1-3-6 tri box thingy, the 2-6 boxed thingy and 1-5 box, and/or the VP (value play) -> no. 1(5-1 M.L.) W/P/Sh @3x.
4th race
Watch out for the no. 3, DAR (10-1). Sure looks like a wise guy TRAP... ran very well in last two, BOTH MSWs. ITM in both. That last part is HUGE in a race where the others in today's race pretty much stuck to Mdn Claimers. I really like one thing about her that ain't so obvious -> terrible jockey, who only has one stinkin winnah in 25 tries, is riding for the trainer he had that winner with (different horse which is also a good sign). He'll want to keep Preciado happy methinks. May be an off track today and that should make this play even better. If this one looks decent in the paddock - I'm on it.
Sorry, but I gotta mention this cause only horseplayers would be interested and prob. know exactly what I'm writing about....Put in hours on Saturday's card and grinded out quite a few races on Sat. It took the last race exacta to make me a winnah for the day.. a whole (approx) $20 worth for the whole freakin day. And the excotics were reg. $2 tickets, quite a bit more on W/Pl/Show bets. Just had to grind it out and study them extra hard.
After the last race, I asked Mrs."SKI" (she's the REAL "ski") if there were any big races on TV. You know, the Derby is coming up and all so there should be a BIG prep. race someplace on the tube. Well, looks like this forum ain't the only place where the sport is dying cause no major network had a race going, not. ESPNs, FOX, nobody. So I noticed on the puter that Keenland had a race coming up with 10 mins to post, so I put it on the puter. It turned out to be a Filly/Mare major Stake race with a full field of REAL wace hosses, no Philly dirtbombs in this one. I checked them out and told the Mrs. I like the looks and connections of the 2 and the 8. I saw that both had double digit odds (M.L.) so I didn't play a thing.
Well you know the rest.... thems go off at 9-1 and 7-1 and YEAH, the bastages finish first and second. Not bragging, BUT the point that gets me is I studied the Philly card for hours and barely grinded out a twenty dollar bill and just LOOK AT EM at Keenland (never had much luck there at all) and pull out an exacta that had to be into 3 figures. I didn't even check the exacta.. just turned the dang puter off. SHEEET.
Good Luck today.
