How bout that 7th? Only one horse left after the scratch that could beat me, he's 5 TIMES the odds of second biggest odds in the race... and the bastage DOES beat me.

Win or lose - what a mess that place is today.

It's gonna be "PICO" or bust. Not even gonna waste time watching the remainder of the races; there's nuthin to learn/observe today.

Gonna go n see how the grass is growing instead :)

Just terrible

Just terrible

Thanks for the updates, Nosigar.

I did shut down the puter immediately after my last post; didn't bother to even watch the last race.

I did see the replay last night and that Pico looked to (maybe) take a bad step before getting into the clubhouse turn. Maybe just hit the brakes real hard? Then he picked it up to very gradually go in reverse. Didn't bother to read what the chart of the race had to say. Guess I got my answer to the question as to how well he likes a sloppy track. Actually, I don't consider ANYTHING that happened on that sloppy track of the last couple of days to be worthy of remembering AND won't take any results of the races of the last two days into consideration when capping the same horses when they run under normal conditions the next time. I think the switch to Maranez was a positive, but like you wrote, Nosigar... made no difference.

I SURE DID get the message to stay away from Philly when the fields are small and the track is sloppy.

The gameplan from here is to lose some moola at the Preakness and forget Philly until it clears up. BTW, the Belmont is USUALLY a much different story for me; Sariva (my bestest bet that year, 2001 I think. Man, does time EVER go by fast when you're having fun. ), Dosselmeyer, and a good no. of others WERE jewels for me. That Sariva was a diamond alright. :)

Good luck HM, NS, Striker and all the MJ horsieplayers for the second jewel.

DAng it, I forgot to mention something re. Hogman's "Preakness?" reply.

I ain't anywhere close to making a pick for the Preakness but I'm reading that a good no. of Derby hosses will be in it. Here's my EARLY thoughts (I ain't gonna start a Preakness thread cause I'd like to see some other folks get plenty of hits in their threads too. Besides, I'm on a bit of a cold streak.). I'll put my pick in there.

I gotta watch another replay of the derby to see about others, but, unlike Stevens who said the the "Animal" will LOVE the Preakness - I think one of the others may like it more. Yeah, it starts with an "S" :s2: ... ... and, errrr... it has the name of a car in it's name. LOL

I see IE posted that Nehro is getting plenty of interest. Based on my TC experiences, my thought on that is :nono:

Gonna give extra consideration to a SHARP N.Y. invader with some early speed if one of them enters.

Same goes for a local favorite/speedster (Maryland circuit) with some breeding and a decent trainer. Extra, extra consideration if he starts from an inside post.

Some consideration for a really good Maryland circuit jockey/trainer combo if one shows up.

Don't know if they made a decision on Uncle Mo? IF they got him all fixed up - I think he's a very serious contender and the problems he "had" will only help the odds. There are some trainers that I trust what they say and Pletcher is one of them. Getting one of the bestest riders in the country will surely help too.

That's all I gots for now, HM.
