How many people came up to you wanting a free book? None. It is Hilton Head and everyone there seems to have more money than they know what to do with.
How many smelly people came up to you? None.
How many people asked you about your awesome setup? A few. Most of the Barnes and Noble employees came over and gazed at it. They thought it was cool. Especially as they all watched me set it up. A customer watched me set it up while drinking coffee at the B&N Cafe. Came over after I was finished and looked at the back of the display for like 5 min. Asked me questions and bought the book.
How many books did you sign? A lot. I should have kept track.
Did you feel it was worth your time? Yes. I never heard one person say "Saw you on TV and came over to see you". It was mostly people who were looking for a new book to read. Talking to them and was a lot of fun. I think I had six people around my table at once at one point. I plan on doing this again.
Were you well received? Yes. A couple people were rude. Like this one guy who had his hands in his pockets, looked to be in his 70's and he saw my display, came toward me and I said "Hello. Looking for a good book to read? I am signing copies of my book today." and he replied "Congratulations" as if he was really telling me to go fuck myself and then he walked past the display and disappeared behind it.
How many people asked you if your book was scary? None. I was pretty preemptive about explaining the plot before they thought anything weird about the title.
Also, is your back better?? 95%. I suck at windsurfing although it is fun.
