almost 4 years old and you expect it to be under the "factory warranty"? Pass the vaseline please.
Check the yellow pages or ask around. You should be able to find a decent technician in your area to fix it for a decent price.

Jesus, you have been having a lot of stuff break on you recently Lawrence. Isn't their some home warranty you can buy just in case this stuff happens. I have one, I'm not sure what it is but I pay for it annually. I had a broken dishwasher last year, and had the warranty and got a brand new Maytag one for $120 with it installed and everything. You should look into it.

130.00 for sears to come out

nobody else repairs appliances down there?

and I think that $130 covers the repair up to a point. most will charge for the house call, i would think.

$130.00..covers tech to come out, diagnosis, and all labor.....i pay for parts...they install

i'm sure if its a major deal..the price isn' t bad if labor is included..unless they try to stick me with an 'above' labor cost...

then again ...i wonder how many times they come out and unclog a trap and r gone in 10 min....

Most of the repairs now are pretty simple. Parts are designed to snap in and out. They figure out the problem pull the part and snap in a new one.

Doesn't it piss you off when you spend $500 for an appliance and it doesn't last 5 years but you spend $25,000 for a car and hope it lasts five years?

UPDATE:

technician comes in the am....i had already taken face plate off washer and got water out....

i turn on washer...and he reaches down and feels water pump...

"Oh the water pump is bad"

261.00 for pump plus 140.00 labor and coming out...

of course, that part is not in stock..will be a week..

i place the order..

i do some snooping around the internet and find the EXACT pump for 108.00 NEW...

i call sears and cancelled the previous order..will have to call back monday to see about getting some of that 140.00 show-up fee from this morning..

HE DIDN"T DO SHIT!!!!

i already got the pump off..2 screws and a couple of hoses....

ITS A RACKET>>>>

overall I should save around $150.00

UPDATE #2....

well..took the water pump apart....only 3 screws...

took out the impeller...and gave it a good washing and inside the house...bunch of lint came out...

put back together and impeller was turning much easier...hmmmmm

put it back in the washer..put drain and rinse...

it sucked the water out like a $8.00 whore.....

:00hour :00hour :00hour

washing a load of clothes and when it finishes, if its all good..

then will cnl new water pump..save another 108.00

basically....shouldn't have paid anything...hope to get some $ back from sears....:sadwave: :sadwave:

lesson learned...

When something goes wrong with an appliance in my house - I always call someone and pay to have them fix it - but after reading your posts, I think I will try to check it out before paying out cash. Good post!
