The storm is over, we are buried but didn't lose power.....Now the sub zero temps are rolling in, -30 with wind chill the next couple of days....This was our first vacation with the kids since Disney 12 yrs ago.
No way of getting to our townhouse in Fla with flights backed up so it sits empty...We now find out the owner who we found through VRBO/HomeAway did a "under the table" reservation outside of their agreement with VRBO..... This came to light after checking with VRBO about options with the unit....This happened after I reached out to the owner back in Sept with question about the unit, I assume he tried to get out of booking fees?.....All of our dealings with the owner were based off VRBO/HomeAway letterhead, actually confused with what has happened and VRBO/Homeaway has opened a case file and trying to help recoup.....
My dealing with VRBO/HomeAway yesterday said had the reservations actually gone through them and not independently with the owner vacation insurance would have been offered (approx. $180) which would have covered this storm....The owner isn't budging, I feel we were mislead so who know how this plays out....
Now looking for something to do with the kids last minute this weekend.....Friggen nightmare....:facepalm:
Had drinks and a ton of laughs with a bunch of Dutchman Thursday night in Atlanta after our plane had mechanical problems after landing and we missed our flight home.
The Dutch were trying to get to New York City to see friends and family but got diverted to Atlanta due to the nasty weather.
The joys of traveling in the wintertime...:facepalm:
