I'm trying to figure out why the Dodgers are a slight home favorite against the Cardinals. Given the following I would expect St L to be a -140 fave.

1) Dodgers sending up a rookie for ML debut.
2) Wellemeyer has been very solid this year, especially recently.
3) St L is respectable away team.
4) St. L is hitting ball better lately.

What gives?

Thanks. I didn't really look that closely into the rookie's minor league career because I've found the jitters from the first start can shake the best of prospects.

Glad to hear Torre is going ahead and bringing the kid up if he's got that kind of promise. Will be a fun game to watch.

Can't tell from this conclusively other than Kershaw pitched well but did not get the win.

Per Wikipedia...

n May 24, 2008, the Dodgers bought Kershaw's minor-league contract, and he was added to the active roster.[31] Sportswriter Tony Jackson called Kershaw's debut the most anticipated start by a Dodgers pitcher since Hideo Nomo's major league debut during the 1995 season.[32] He made his debut on May 25, starting against the St. Louis Cardinals. He struck out the first batter he faced, Skip Schumaker, the first of seven strikeouts in the game, in which he pitched six innings and allowed two runs.[33] When he debuted, Kershaw was the youngest player in MLB, a title he held for one full year.[34]

Kershaw won his first major league game against the Washington Nationals on July 27, 2008.

The boredom of a Saturday night when you are married with kids....:toast:

Lol as my girlfriend and I were just talking about what we'd be doing when we have kids. Sitting on the couch watching football and shes pushing me to go out and do the same thing i can be doing right here.

Id say we take Kershaw tonight as an homage, but the line kinda stinks, IMO.

Have a good one, dude. :0074
