There have been too many times, whether at nice restaurants or at dinner parties where I have seen the significant other dressed really nice while the male is wearing a baseball cap & sneakers.....

A good friend of mine dresses like this (from Indiana) & it really is annoying

Wearing a hat is ok (especially if you are bald like some people), but I was always taught to take mine off when I arrive at a house or sit down to a meal. Wearing a hat while you eat was out of the question.
