Good topic. I don't think you can say there is ONE best ever. There have been a few classics already mentioned. Here are some others I would nominate:

Well, she was just seventeen -- you know what I mean.

In the time of chimpanzees, I was a monkey.

I was born in a crossfire hurricane.

Well, it's one for the money, two for the show, three to get ready, now go, cat, go!

Hello, Darkness, my old friend.

I've been a bad, bad girl.

I hurt myself today to see if I still feel.

I ain?t a killa, but don?t push me; Revenge is like the sweetest joy next to getting pussy.

Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk; I?m a woman?s man, no time to talk.

Just a small town girl, livin' in a lonely world.

So, so you think you can tell, heaven from hell, blue skies from pain.

Go, Shorty, it's your birthday.

Imagine there's no heaven.

I stand up next to a mountain; chop it down with the edge of my hand.

She was a fast machine, she kept her motor clean, she was the best damn woman I have ever seen.

If I leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me? <- DEFINITELY IN TOP FIVE IMO.

Leaves have fallen all around; time I was on my way.

I once had a girl or should I say, she once had me.

Somewhere in Corn Country
"God, what a mess, on the ladder of success..."

"I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand..."

"I went home with the waitress, the way I always do"

"Well, he went down to dinner in his Sunday best..."

Time to live
Time to lie
Time to laugh
Time to die
Takes it easy, baby
Take it as it comes

Whiskey bottles, and brand new cars
Oak tree you're in my way
There's too much coke and too much smoke
Look what's going on inside you

Jesus don't want me for a sunbeam.
'Cause sunbeams are not made like me.

jeez...really tough question

nothing pops into mind but likely will later once the Malthus phenomenon kicks in
(a personal journey and does someone need a dang cat?!)

With brief reflection I'll throw these out:

Someone told me long ago
There's a calm before the storm
I know
It's been coming for some time

Somewhat relevant (to me) from by-gone eras but still a cool intro:

I have come curiously close to the end,
down,
beneath my self-indulgent pitiful hole

Defeated, I concede and
move closer
I may find comfort here
I may find peace within the emptiness
How pitiful

(still my favorite Tool track though it's one of those you have to be in the mood for and
can't listen to whenever feeling whatever, same as I feel for Floyd's The Wall)

New Orleans
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to New Orleans - home of the hits. And, if you're from out of town...haha, welcome to the third world.
