But my all time favorite might have to be ... Janis Joplin, Me and Bobby McGee. Love that song now it is going to be stuck in my head all day.

You meant to say Kris Kristopherson, Me and Bobby McGee....................Right

hoyt,

yea kristoferson wrote "me & my bobby mcgee" & have heard him sing it , but most people associate the song with janis. and i might add that she did a great job on it.

and imo, anything sung by ray charles is a great song. that man has soul.

Boilermaker-

You wanted an Ohio Players song? I'll nominate Fire. But not before Smoke on the Water (Deep Purple) and War Pigs (Sabbath)

when I was a DJ....

when I was a DJ....

.....played lots of songs on the radio and at clubs.

Gotta nominate for Greatest Song Ever "True Faith" by New Order (Qwest/Factory Records, 1987). Danceable, hypnotic, filled with darkness and tension. The song kicks off with a drum intro, followed by a melodic bass line, and then the synth bass and keyboard textures. The break and coda are absolute killer. Bernard's lyrics are unemotional, but perfect for this song. It's basically a song about drugs, though at times the lyrics seem to mean nothing and are often filled with metaphor. The groundbreaking music video won Best Video at the '87 BRIT Awards.

Me and Bobby McGee. One of my all time favorites, and only Janice Joplin can sing it.

ME & BOBBY MCGEE
Janis Joplin
- words and music by Kris Kristofferson
- first popularized by Roger Miller in 1969 (#12 Country hit)
- lyrics as recorded by Janis Joplin on the 1971 album "Pearl"
(Columbia VCK-30322)
