We that bet suffer the odd 'bad beat,'but some really stick in your mind for quite a long period of time.
I was thinking of some last night. This has to be the worst I can recall. In 1987-1988,South Carolina was playing Louisville in college basketball. The Gamecocks were -1 at home and held a 71-58 lead with ONE minute to play.
A fight starts on the floor and the fans come to join in the action. After the dust clears, eight technical fouls were called on South Carolina and six called on Louisville.
Well take a guess. Louisville makes six of its eight, got the ball out of bounds and scored. Louisville then makes a 40 footer at the buzzer to force overtime.
We know what happened in O.T. S.Carolina got beat by 9 or 10.
I guess we have to look back and laugh (at the 'games' and ourselves).
Oh,before I get in too much crap,MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL, Let's take OVER tonight.I like the way N.Orleans is playing ball right now , so I expect to see a bunch of scoring tonight...Good luck all...Spanky....

I just remember Joey Harrington QB from Georgia tech a couple years ago would carry a big lead into the 4th qtr of what seemed like every game and eventually loose the cover.

GT is one of those teams that will not be recieving a christmas card from me this year, or an year.

Best one isn't mine but one horse racing writer Andy Beyer has told. The Pic 6 pool at Hollywood Park was up to over a million bucks a few years ago and some guy invested around $200 into it. He hit a couple of modest longshots and had singled a 25-1 shot. The 25-1 shot won so the overwhelming majority of Pic 6 tickets were dead. The guy had to leave the track after 3 of the 6 races were run but he liked his chance in the final 3 races. The last race of the Pick 6 was a turf race and only 2 horses in the race had run well at all on the grass. Nobody was going to beat those two. The guy called to get results and to his surprise, there was about 6 late scratches out of the turf race, including his two turf ringers. What could've happened?? It turned out that the sprinkler system broke midway thru the day and the turf course got flooded. So due to Pic 6 rules, his two scratched entries automatically went to the favorite. When he called to get the final results, he heard the winner paid $6. Sometimes favorites pay in the $6 range but many times they pay lower. They didn't announce the Pic 6 payoff so he still didn't know. Turns out the $6 winner was the 2nd choice so he had to settle for a consolation ticket, which was only worth around $1000 or so. Had the turf race gone as scheduled, he may have taken down the whole pool. *THAT* is a tough loss.

I'll never forget the Steelers/Jaguars monday night game (I think it was the only one they ever lost under Cowher?) where Pitssburgh was kicking a last second field goal. I was laughing as I looked over at my buddy and said the only way we can lose this game is if Jax blocks the field goal and takes it back for a touchdown...... Well, you can only guess what happened.

They all hurt like hell, but last Monday Night going over the total with 14 seconds to go surely has to rank up in my personal top 10.

Colts Ravens this year. My buddy and I are about to pop the corks to celebrate a big Indy cover. They are driving with a minute left trailing by five. Whats the worst that could happen? They dont score and the Ravens kneel down?

"What if they return a pick for a score?" my friend asks. No chance I say, Manning is going to be careful here, he wont let that happen.

Damn you Payton...
