that thing looks like its from the 1970's.......central vac is the way to go...........

I too almost got into something like this in High School, they sent me a letter saying I can earn $17.50 an hour/base pay with the potential to earn more....so I went to check it out and sat there for 4 hours while they showed me how to sell knives(no where in the letter was it about selling knives).....oh these weren't just any knives, they were cutco knives, can slice and dice thru anything without the blade ever breaking or getting dull....same setup as the vacuums, start with your family, get referrals from each person, they recommended you get 5 from each and then your list goes from there......needless to say, I lasted the first day of training and didn't go back for the last 2........now i'm in the retail business, go figure..........Your son is in the right direction and seems like an ambitious kid, thats great.....Its all a learning experience and if anything it'll give your son interpersonal skills....dealing with people and communicating is an invaluable quality.

good luck to him..:00hour

If he can master the cold call he can go sell anywhere..Give me those 18-21 years of age folks who have the drive to sell a good product with a good presentation anyday of the week..Inside a year with the proper guidance and development of people skills the skies the limit.

..and keep the college boys ..no thanks..had my fill of them for 20 years..never ceased to amaze me..inside a week 75% of them thought they knew everthing it took me 20 years to master..sure fella..see ya...write when ya get work.

Bubbas1 it is great your 18yr son has the fortitude to get out there and make a living. Most kids these days just want to screw off and sponge off others. Sounds like you raised a good one and should be good experience for him. They only bad part is selling those vaccums is alot like selling cars. They have a large markup on the item but if you are willing or do not have the mental aptitude to know better like my grandma they will stick it to you for the full $1500 knowing good and well they could knock $250 off of it in a heart beat and probably more. And they did that to my grandma even though she had oldtimers pretty bad. And like some have said you let them in the door you will have hell getting them back out. I find them very lowhanded just like a car dealer.

He dosent work there anymore. (This thread was started a year ago) There is another thread around here about why.
He went from that job to sealing basements. I wouldnt even want to do that one. He did that thru the winter and now he is cutting down trees. Its a unuion job and he enjoys the work so I think he will be there for awhile. He is already talking about wanting to do side jobs when he gets more experience at it.

aggece...here is the thread where Kirby vaccuums have been discussed. Rainbows are the basically the same. Selling points, price, etc.
