gawd! did they have "Whisper Alley" back when you were there?

We will have to get together for a beer sometime soon. I will be in pittsburgh on Dec 20th driving thru on xmas leave. probably be out there for a day about two weeks from now too.

I can buy you one of those deliciously tasty "Iron City" Brews they serve out there.

I just went to San Diego recently and a friend's aunt who lives there told me the downtown area has been really cleaned up the past 5 years or so. Alot of construction still taking place. My buddy is staying in the newer area of downtown but there are some areas where you can see the old part of downtown that is still older and rundown. But for the most part I didn't have a problem running into bums or homeless people, at least where I was. Now homosexuals on the other hand was a different story.

Marine,

When I was stationed on Okinawa, I had a roommate from Russellville, Arkansas.

He never put any of his money in a bank or credit union. Kept it all in the bottom of his seabag.

Whenever we had Liberty, he would reach into the bottom of his seabag, grab a handful of bills and shove 'em in his left pocket, then grab another handful and shove 'em in his right pocket.

He had a pack of smokes in his shirt pocket and another rolled up in his sleeve.

He was known and admired by every Mamasan and every prostitute from Ginoza (north), to Naha and points further south.

If I ever wrote an article to Reader's Digest about "My Most Unforgettable Character", he'd be in the top two.

They don't call it Filthydelphia for nothing folks.
However Camden, New Jersey has to be the worst city in America. Looks like a war zone.
Cleanest, in my opinion, is San Francisco.

After reading all these "dirty" city posts....I feel kinda fortunate living in Toledo....even though its not a HUGE city, its a city blue-collar town non-theless and it doesnt have a funky smell :)

Can these many people think "cleanest" is spelled "cleanist?"
