I doubt many have a problem with the employer's action. More so with the actions taking place after the reverend intervening and threatening.

Now then, what about the EEO and the decree where you can't not hire someone based on certain criteria? Removing that government intervention/lawsuit in the waiting would be real freedom.

I was just reiterating what has already been said. I don't think this woman had malicious intent, but the Golf Channel has the right to take whatever actions they deem appropriate. It has nothing to do with freedom of speech or thought police or the "PC" crowd taking over. It's just a corporation reprimanding an employee for what was, given her line of work, a moment of incompetence.

You will get my well reasoned reply as soon as I finish my research. I recall some mention of this reporter on the mojo forum which I am about to spend some time in thoughtfull repast, while everyone one else at the Haskel home is asleep and I am alone at the computer. Note the time. This may take a while.

Sleepless in Cincinnati,

There, I'm done, I mean, I found what I was looking for. Didn't find the reporter but did see some related materials that peaked some interest.

Now, back to the issue at hand, I mean.....what were talkin about in this thread.

Dawgball. I always liked you and am sorry if my attempted humor and/or rather bluntly stated political positions were offensive to you. I realize they are put forth in a certain direct manner (intended) and hope to see you post in this forum again. I don't post often so I won't be around very long (just when the meds run out). I do so in spurts usually.

I think you are really stretching on your definition of lyching, even for those under 30. I mean do you think the whole Jena, La thing which involved high schoolers was not racial? Nooses (or is it noosii) are synonmous with lynching.

My spiritual MAC friend in Spain, although around here it is not a good thing to be associated with me. However, in the vast world outside of Madjacks you will find that adopting my world view, political ideals, morals, and approach to life in general, you will fare well. Since you are a relatively new poster I will try to guide you along the path, may I call you Grasshopper, and not let you get led astray.

It is rare, yes, very rare indeed, but my initial impression may have been wrong about you. I thought you were a typical resident of Toledo, fat, slovenly, with a five day beard, watching tv 24/7, working at a fast food restaurant (part time) and driving a 1993 something without hubcaps. Yet after reading your subsequent posts, you seem like a chap with a modicum of intelligence. Therefore, I forgive your earlier comments and I accept you. Congratulations.

Saul you are out. "Acting like an idiot" After all I've done for you, you pretentious little Hebe. You have gotten to be like AR, who is Wayne-lite. Always trying to please every one. Tennis analogy sucked. Self appointed forum voice of reason. Must say most disappointing poster for 2007. Self-promoting kike bastard outta stick his head in an oven (electric). You went from a protoge to a poster trying to win a popularity contest. Man, thats not what its about. Its about the truth. Go back to your roots. Stop cow towing to the masses. Be the Irish-Jew that you are. Drink Manichevitz on St. Patricks day. Go to temple drunk. Be loud and obnoxious (that fits both)

Gary:

Finally, your analogy between what the muslims did in Sudan to the "teddy bear" teacher and my "southern man" discussion was classic Weasel. How on Gods green earth you bring the muslims treatment of non-muslims into this discussion is beyond belief. I didn't realize we are holding American behaviour up to that high of a standard.

Weasels intellectual bar: If the Muslims do it, we can do it in America. Duh.

Thats something to strive for. You know, Gare, I thought we were better than that. But I guess if you want to say Americans should base there treatment of minorities based upon the Muslim model you are entitled to that opinion.

I stand by my statement that there is an underlying racist current in this country that most Americans are unaware of. Tinglehams saying "lynching" refercing Woods without thinking, having it just flow out of her mouth, was perfect evidence of what I'm talking about. And my final point which I will not back down from, is that this undercurrent of racism is more prevalent in the south than anywhere else in the country.

when I hear the word lynch, I think of a Western genre movie not a 14 year old black boy getting strung up in Mississippi by white sheeted cone headed KKK members for stealing somebody's newspaper.

2 week suspension is probably warranted. There were better and more witty things for her to say. Jackass Sharpton needs to find a job and quit being the 'black' race police.

Eddie's generalization of the South is expected and of course juvenile at best. Some things never change.

Edward a few questions
--is racism or what appears to be racism a two way street?

Which side is more prevailant.

Which side can you say anything and no prob while slightest hint by other comes under scrutiny.

Name some black/hispanic or any other minority commentator that has ever been suspended/fired for racists remarks other than against another minority.

..................................................................

Even former cast member Isaiah Washington showed up. Washington, who played Dr. Preston Burke, was not asked back to the show in June amid tension that began and quickly escalated when he allegedly used a slur in reference to T.R. Knight and then used the word again during a Golden Globes appearance.

Isaiah Washington has since apologized, met with gay leaders and checked into rehab, and the actor appeared on NBC?s Bionic Woman earlier this fall.

Isaiah Washington denied there were problems with his former co-workers. He later posed for a photo with another Grey?s Anatomy star, Justin Chambers.

Regardless of what really happened on the Grey?s Anatomy set, we all know the ultimate result was that Isaiah Washington was not asked to return to the program.

As Isaiah attempts to restart his career, he paid a visit to the set of Access Hollywood for a candid interview with Billy Bush - mere hours after it was announced that T.R. Knight received an Emmy nomination.

?Do you think he benefited from this dust up?? Isaiah was asked by Bush regarding T.R. Knight and his Emmy nomination.

?T.R. Knight is a good actor. He has been a wonderful actor from day one,? Isaiah said. ?T.R. Knight, congratulations. He finally got the attention he deserved.?

In fact, it was only well wishes from Isaiah for his former Grey?s Anatomy co-star who received his first Emmy nomination on Thursday.

?Whether or not it serves any particular agenda that he?s nominated now, to make a point, I can?t speak on that. That?s theoretical. I don?t know, but good for him,? the former Dr. Burke said.

In most workplaces in America, harrassing coworkers verbally or physically generally leads disciplinary action if not termination.

Holy shit!!!!!! You've discovered the world isn't flat!

Actually, that's a pretty fuking stoopid statement. I'm pretty certain that "most Americans" are completely aware that racism is alive and well in the good ol USofA. I'm pretty sure, most of us, regardless of our public hand-wringing over the subject, practice it to some extent.

Maybe "down south" the good ol boys still rule the roost as you proclaim? That doesn't mean racism is more prevalent down there. You see, Ed.....I think you are the kind of guy who buys into, or even sells the notion, that "minorites" can't be racist. I think, up north, out east, and out west.....you have plenty of "white folk" being terrorized by slightly darker people. Racism is an equal opportunity employer, and business is, and always will be, GOOD!

Still the same, I'm sure the monirities of the Queen City would have a differing stance on the matter. But, by pointing at someone else, it's like hunkering down in front of reality television each night. You can watch those losers, and feel so much better about your own life, huh?

On a side note:

Even all of you good citizens in here.....talking about "black" Tiger? Well, it's pretty well known that he not only has an Asian mother, but is adamant about that part of his ethnicity.

I'll bet if Sharpton knew that, he'd throw his gook ass to the curb.

Fukin pathetic.

Y:

Don't apply your admission that you practice some form of racism on me or "most Americans". I know many people who unconsciously would not say lynching when refering to Tiger. Although spending a lot of time here in Cincitucky, sometimes I need a reminder that the diversity and the cosmopolitan nature of either coast supports my position that primarily the south and secondarily the midwest has strong undercurrent of racism.

In my practice I deal with all races, religions. I do not judge the person by their race, religion, gender, nationality (other than the Irish), or sexual orientation. Only if the potential defendant has a deep pocket.

You couldn't be more wrong about my views on Sharpton and/or Jackson. They are both racist. Sharpton's injection into every scenario is intended to keep the racial issue alive (by the way, notice how white Obama tries to be).

I have no clue as to what you are talking about as far as in other areas of the country where white folk are being terrorized by black folk. Unless that is just the liberal media not reporting on all the important issues.

I can tell you Cincinnati is a very racial city. We had our riots a few years back. Again, I'm not a bleeding heart liberal hugging trees and believe that law enforcement should not be hampered but I also have a pretty good perspective on how things really work both in the courtroom and on the streets.

I don't know why you people have such a hard time admitting what every one of us knows in our heart is 100% true. I guess it means facing a part or ourselves that each of you doesn't want to admit exists. Too bad, cause thats the only way to change something. You first have to admit it exists in your heart.

Gary, I care. Just been tired and busy. As the psycho pointed out in the other forum, I read the daily garbage posted here but haven't commented much. For some reason, this topic bothered me.

By the way, have you been listening to John Edwards? Too bad he doesn't have a chance to win. That guy is telling you like it is. The only one not getting pac or lobbyist money taking on the k steet boys. Big business owns everyone else.

You supporting Romney, Huckabee or Guiliani?

Appreciate your complete lack of opacity there.

There's a certain level of intelligence and practicality that exists amongst the gambling crowd that precludes really bashing you for this one. I know it doesn't exist in my heart....that'll have to be enough.

I like Edwards' style and some his stances.......but, "telling it like it is," he made the bulk of his personal fortune on some very shoddy "science." That will stick in my craw, and if you think its just b/c I'm a physician, then go ask any rural pregnant woman in NC and everywhere else how hard it is to find someone who will deliver their baby for them. The only good to come of his pro career is that some not-so-well-to-do folk will get to ride a chopper (around $1500 in av fuel alone) when they go into labor.

Good to have you back in the forums.......they certainly are more lively............D:SIB C

Dr:

I believe we've had this argument before. You and I (and Wayne for that matter) can debate the reason for the lack of 1) physicians in rural NC 2)med students going into obgyn 3) skyrocketing medical costs 4) lower doctors salaries and 5) malpractice insurance premiums until we are blue in the face. Romney, who as I'm sure you know, is owned by the medical/insurance industry will continue to limit patient rights. Much to your pleasure, I'm sure. Make sure you cast your vote for him.

I see that you are attacking the messenger and not the message, which I believe is where we left off last time. My position was that based upon either an AMA, JAMA or NEJM report every year there were 100,000 victims of medical negligence. I compared that to the number of Americans killed by terrorist since 1995 or somewhere around then at under 5000. Yet we spend all this money on terrorist prevention yet protect medical providers with that wonderful right wing mantra of tort reform.

I'm just wondering how much your malpractice premiums have dropped in your state since I assume caps have been enacted? Saving a bunch? Lower premiums? Before you continue to scalp the lawyers heads, I suggest you take a look at your liability carriers profits. Not on the surface but a good look.

It did get boring around here. I thought I'd come back to give you guys someone to pick on.

For the little guy,
Eddie
