Howdy boys. Thanks for the well-wishes!
Briefly, my Dad had been paralyzed since I was 9 years old due to a motorcycle accident. As some of you know, bed sores are the enemy. He's always had trouble and he just had one get away from him. They had to perform surgery, including a procedure called "flap-band" where they take from your hamstring and put that muscle over the butt bone so it won't poke through the skin. He's had this surgery 3 times now unfortunately with the last band sliding off the bone.
He's flat on his back and will be for a while as sitting up stretches the skin. He's miserable. On top of everything else, he's in the Miami VA Hospital and I'm sure most know a VA hospital is not a pleasure cruise. I did meet his nurses and they seem decent and nice so hopefully they'll watch his back. He'll be in there for at least 3 more months. He's been in there since Sept 7th.
I know he was glad to see me. I just wish he wouldn't be so cranky but I consider his position and just take it with a grain of salt.
I hung with him Wed and Thursday all day. Drove up to Orlando last night and am now with the wife and kids until Sunday when we'll return back to the 'Ville.
I'll have to head back down to Miami, hopefully in November or early December.
On a side note, Jesus! Miami has too much traffic!! Took me 45 mins to go 10 miles last night!
Did you hear about that plane that landed on the turnpike? I passed it yesterday on the side of the road. That was crazy!!
