Looks like MJ's is quite split (63-59 at the moment). I likely won't wager unless I decide to fund an account at the last minute. But if I did, I would probably split my bet between taking the points and Seattle ML.

looks like the line makers did there job by getting equal money on both teams...but that still remains to be seen...all we can do is watch how the line moves...personally I believe there will more money on Pitt but I could be wrong

So Cal
I looked over the numbers and came to the conclusion that Pit is the side to take. But the cappers I respect seem to be mostly of the opinion that Sea +, taking the points is the way to go. I'm thinking I'll probably play Pit ml, and maybe a taboo (crossing zero) teaser with Pit +3.5 and under 54.

Sea away from the noisemakers is 3-4-1 ats. Pit, playing a much tougher sched is 9-2 ats away. Pit has been in win or die for 6 weeks....and showed a boatload of character in beating 1, 2 and 3 seeds on the road.

If you like Sea......please tell me why. You might save me lots of money.

I've come to the conclusion that Seattle is the right side in this game. They are rested.....road to the SB has been an easy one. Beat Washington after putting the ball on the ground five times and losing the league MVP on the second series. Took Carolina apart like a tinker toy.....and Pittsburgh is next. This Pittsburgh team is good and I applaude them on getting this far but they haven't faced a team like this one all year. Seattle is well balanced and the defense is very under rated.......over 50 sacks for the year counting the playoffs. The "red zone" D has been outstanding, they are #4 in the league while the Steelers rank #10 with fewer sacks than Seattle. I just think that Seattle will come to play and they arriving on Sunday .....one week b4 the SB. Holmgren will keep them focused on the task at hand.

Give me the Hawks and the points please.

As a Seahawks fan you have come to the conclusion that Seattle wins...I don't mean to criticize but your opinion could be construed as biased but other wise you make some good points

i was about to say the same thing. I'm a hawks fan & "hope" they will win. As a hawks fan, it makes it really easy for me to come to the conclusion that they will win. As a follower of all sports seattle, I also know a spectacular collapse is a distinct possibility.

Hope I'm wrong a/b the collapse & also hope the line continues to rise as I'll wait unitl just before kickoff to play the 'hawks and go down with the ship (or sail off to glory!). Saw a post of a steeler fan betting the hawks. Could never bet against "my" team in the sb b/c I could just never root for another team (I would play he total or pass if I couldn't pull the trigger on my team.)

Thats the reason why I don't even bother playing my favoirte teams...I don't even play the totals because it has been nothing but bad luck for me

Hey USCMD,

I haven't actually bet the game but I will probably be on Seattle +. It's up to 4.5 now and may even go higher. A couple of things I would like to note. I don't know if this will help, but I thought I would pass them on.

A lot of people, in my opinion, are going a little too far with the "road woes" analogy. Seattle has ALWAYS struggled on the road and although there may be multiple reasons for that, there is one huge reason that can't be overlooked. When Seattle plays east coast teams they don't fly in until the day before. They lose 3 hours right there. They end up playing the next day at 1, but to their bodies it's 10 AM. Now think about how early they have to get up considering they still have to shower, eat, go to the stadium, get dressed, go through walkthroughs, have individual position meetings, stretch and warm up on the field, then go back into the locker room for a team meeting before the game starts, then take the field. I'm guessing the absolutely LATEST they wake up is 6 AM. I can't even imagine waking up at 6 and then having to play a game 4 hours later.

Along those same lines, they only played two good road teams this year, Washington and Jax, both east coast teams. They struggled against Jax big time. Aside from the fatigue, it was the first NFL game ever for guys like Tatupu and Hill, and they were also coming off of Ray Rhodes having a stroke just days prior. I don't fault them for losing to a very good Jax team. With Washington, they actually played pretty well. They could have won the game on a last second FG but Brown hit the upright. They went on to lose in OT. Again, I'm not faulting them for losing to a very good team in OT on the road. Both of these losses came in the first four weeks. They hadn't jelled at all yet. Everyone talks about the roll Pitt is on, but Seattle has now won 13 of 14, with the only loss coming at GB when they rested their starters for the second half.

As for the SB, I don't think this can be compared to a regular season game. They will arrive a week early, so there will be no jet lag, no time zone effect, etc. Also, unlike other road games they will actually have fans at this game. Pitt should have more, but Seattle will have a lot too. And the sheer magnitude of the game implies they won't have a letdown. You can't say that with regular season games.

As for x's and o's, these two teams are VERY evenly-matched. Both have great running games and are great at stopping the run. Both have very good QBs and efficient passing games. If either team has a weakness it would be their pass D.

One last thing, and this may be trivial or it may not. After the Seahawks won last weekend there was no champagne being poured and the celebration was pretty subdued. Holmgren didn't even give the guys a day off. They had practice the next day at 11 AM. I love their "unfinished business" outlook on this game. Pitt may have done the exact same thing for all I know though. That's why I said it might not make a difference. But I definitely like the way they are approaching this game. I think they will be ready and I think it will be a close game throughout. Sorry for the length of this, didn't mean for it to be so long! Good luck with whatever you pick.

P.S. Although I live in Seattle this isn't a homer pick. This will be the first time I've bet on them all year and I have went against them a couple of times.

I spent the last couple of hours going over stats for both teams, and putting them in a spreadsheet,, what I noticed is that Seattle has almost a 2 to 1 advantage in number of categories in their favor (I am up to 25 now), Defense and Offense...

Add to the fact that I am seeing numbers rising to almost 65% on the Steelers in some places.

I realize that these numbers don't always decide games, I just really can't see how Seattle is getting 4 points.

The more I work on it, the more I want the the abundance of Steelers fans to keep the line moving up.. There is not a town that I have been in that doesn't have a Steeler Bar, including Maui, Hawaii...

Give me the points, although I will wait to see if I can get 4.5 or 5...

Nice Run Clem, interested to see your take on the game...

My book has it at 4.5 right now, although that's at -115. I've never really been one to look at who the public is playing and then take the other side. I think it's more important to just concentrate on picking winners. HOWEVER, the one game that I always want to make sure I'm not on the public's side is the SB. Everyone and their grandmother bets on the SB so you get all kinds of inflated lines, and it usually goes up on the favorite's side. I think there is a ton of value with the Seahawks + the points. Just my opinion...

I stopped betting with my heart years ago......I have become a Hawks fan this year but rest assured that I don't let that influence my money. I'm here to make money and if that meant betting against Seattle that's where I would be.

Its all about the almight dollar...and I can't even tell you how many times I've been burned betting for, against, or even on the totals when my favorite team is involved in the play...Its unbelievable how many times I've lost...Either way I guess its a win/loss situation for you...Pitt wins you cash in but your favorite teams loss the SB...Seattle wins your happy because your team wins but you still loss money...I hate being in that situation and with my luck and if I were in your situation...Pitt would win but wouldn't cover either...I hope your luck is better then mine Killian and good luck to you!
