I must be absolutely nuts to think Robert Plant is the most talented singer of all time.

Whenever they ask fellow lead singers their top 10 of all time Plant is almost always 1 or 2.

YYZ must be alot wiser than all of us. Vinnie chimes in, I take dumps bigger and smarter than that guy.

Go listen, ah I cant bother with morons.

YYZ is probably going to say Steven Tyler:thefinger

Great call judge. He was before my time but growing up with him and the Platters playing on my parents record player. What a voice he had. Nice call.

Mary J blige, never would have bet on seeing that name in here, not even in a top 500 list.

Elton is great

The question was most talented singer of all time.

Sinatra was not a talented singer. He was a great crooner, but not even close to as good as Dean. At singing or crooning. He was just more famous.

Neil Diamond could sing, but not a most talented singer.

Freddie Mercury was an extremely talented singer. Nice choice. Its usually between Freddie and my easypick.

Robert Plant hands down. Freddie was a better entertainer but for raw talent Plant wins quite easily.

Sinatra?? thats hilarious. Aretha could belt it out. James Taylor I like alot but does not belong in this category.

Elvis???? ya ok

i like a wide variety of different music & of course this all is a matter of opinion...

i think frank sinatra was the most influential singer of the 20th century...& all you have to do is read interviews on the subject from such singers as bono, harry connick jr., michael buble, johnny mathis, sting & singers from years ago as vic damone, jerry vale, sammy davis...etc....

the reason why i think sinatra was so influencial was his phrasing of songs...it changed the way popular music after the 1940's was sung....

in the late 1930's when sinatra first started singing & into the 1940's is voice was very pure & almost perfect & he was known as "the voice"....but i didn't like his music then...too boring imo...

i liked the sinatra with the attitude....the not so perfect voice of the 1950's through the 1970's...with the scotches & marlboros in him...

imo he stayed around too long..but i guess he earned the right to....

beside sinatra...some of my favorite singers in no particular order & not necessarily the best voices....but singers that i wouldn't change the radio station when they came on

nat king cole...who would have been more famous had he been white....

bono
sting
freddy mercury
barry white
ray charles...nobody had more soul than him
rod stewart
stevie nicks
bonnie raitt
carly simon...think her voice is gold...
anita baker...very sexy voice
marvin gaye..also very sexy voice
luther vandross
billy joel
bb king
elvis

i'm sure ther are plenty more that i can't think of...

singers who have/had a great voices that i would change the radio station...

bing crosby
barbra streisand
judy garland
michael buble
karen carpenter
celine dion
johnny mathis

also sure that i am leaving some out....

Diana Krall is amazing, IMO.

Also, if you listen to Queen Latifah sing anything that isn't hip-hop.......She will blow you away.

Here's just one sample, and she has plenty more.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/W4cRx2_n7Rs&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/W4cRx2_n7Rs&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

agree both very good singers..but could take them or leave them....

it's funny alot of rock singers have come out with cds of them singing 30's & 40's music...i guess songs from those eras showcased singer's voices more than songs from modern times..

I think James Taylor has somehow become a characture of himself or something. I agree AR a great voice and a lot of great songs but BORRRRING!

I love Karen Carpenter. I think she is one of the all time great voices that we lost too soon.
