greed has taken over this country. it doesn't work that way anymore. employees are treated by their bosses like hamsters on a wheel and the employers are just spinning the wheel faster and faster. you have perfect attendance for 3 years, then your kid is sick and you cant find a sitter pronto and your employer jumps your ass for being 20minutes late.

pay your employes lower and just threaten them with the golden "you're fortunate to have a job, lots dont" shit...

In this case, they have proven their worth, and I would surely get mad they were 20 minutes late. That is because I would insist they stay home with their child, you scratch my back I scratch yours.

You know how to avoid getting your ass jumped by your boss for being 20 minutes late when your kid is sick (or something else like that happens)?

You call them before you are supposed to show up and say - hey boss, my kid is sick and I'm going to be about 20 minutes late today because I'm lining up a sitter/appointment/care for my kid.

You don't just show up 20 minutes late and tell him you had troubles after the fact.
