yea, but it doesn't go to the lungs in the form of smoke carrying tar, nicotine, and all those other chemicals. the patch and gum feed you the part your body craves so there isn't any withdrawal problems. the part i really crave is the drawing of the smoke into my body. i LIKE that feeling but i don't ever want to be laying there like my father was, one day, gasping for air. man, i hope i can pull this off. this is serious chit, ask bear!

Good point Jack.....no smoke into the lungs is alot better, thats for sure.Good luck with this Jack, I know you can do this Chief

MJ I will be joining the ranks of the non smokers...but not on the 20th, I have to put off my "smoke out" till the 26th as my fantasy baseball league is having its draft in Atlantic City & that temptation will be way to strong.

Here's a funny/wierd story.

5 years ago, I quit smoking for about 9 months. Why I started again, lets just chalk that down as I was stupid rather than making excuses. The first day was killer so I decided to put on the patch.. OH MY GOD.. the patch was like nothing i've ever done. It was making my nerves errupt. I was shaking, sweating and really thirsty so I would take it off unless I felt the urge. On the package it said if you crave a cigarette in the morning, leave the patch on at night.. so I followed the instructions and did. Well, to my surprise I slept all night but when I woke up, my shirt, pants, and bed sheets were wet... and when I say wet, it looked like someone got a 1-litre water bottle and poured it. I had remembered the dreams I was having about dragons and stuff. Wierd shit! Next evening, i thought about it and rather than craving in the morning, i would try again and keep the patch on at night. The same results occured but this time it was worse. It was the last day I put on the patch, survived the 9 months without the patch and was fine.

Moral of the story: Dont put the patch on at night. You don't smoke while you sleep, so just forget what they say on the package!!! It was ok during the day but I stil took it off cause it made me bitching like my girl.

3 butts today. its 9:20pm.. and I'm not having anymore today.

Monday will be a tough day, but I'll stick with the gum if I need to get thru the day. No Patch. It's all in your head. I think my dad said it best. The cigarette is a small, little thing with no brain. We're humans, with intelligence. Dont we all know cigs are killing us? Either way, I'm getting ready for Monday. No matter what happens, I'm done sunday..I'll wake up Monday smoke free for 12 hours!

For those who have mom/dad, kids and/or a wife. Do it for them. 100% chance you're going to die because of cigarettes if you don't quit and leave your loved ones behind.

Quit smoking 16 years ago after smoking for 17 years. Problem I had was if I was not smoking I was dipping copenhagen. It was much harder to quit the dipping. If you can quit for 14 days you have got it beat. But it takes will power and you have to want it. Just quit cold turkey like I did and do not look back. You do not need all the patches and bullshit. Just think you are probably adding numerous years to your life. Which would you rather have?
Good luck!

The realistic thing is, the cigarette CALMS you down because you THINK it does. Having a cigarette increases your heart rate so really.. Your not calming down.. your heart is beating faster!

I know the coffee and cig thing. Its part of my morning schedule. Go downstairs, turn on the pot of coffee, go upstairs, dress, get my coffee, get to the car and light one up. That's is the toughest cigarette i'm having a problem with. Still can't shake it and i've been trying for 2 weeks. I'm able to not smoke when I get stressed, after a meal, on a work break, after sex and before bedtime.

I'll try again tomorrow morning and see what happens but coffee seems to go well with a cig.. Might just take some orange juice with me tomorrow morning and see which miserable fcuk makes it to work. :142smilie

Good luck again to everyone who is going to give it their best effort. The best things in life are usually the toughest to get. Quitting smoking is just the same!

Chuck get out of bed and run 2 miles before you shower, that should cure the morning urge :mj07: Or make the biatch give you a BJ instead, that was always my excuse..

"Hey! Do you want me to go outside and smoke?"

If I ran 2 miles right now, I dont know if I would make it to see Monday. I do about a 1-1.5 mile walk each day with the dog and girl but running is definitely out of the question..

:142smilie About the BJ, shes knows it wont work because once its done i'll still have to go to work and the cigs are waiting in the car. I mentioned it to her just now so I might actually get lucky tomorrow morning. Still won't stop the morning cig. .. unless of course I get action all the way to work  and god knows that won't happen!

Good Luck to you Jack, quit smoking December 14th, 1999. Never touched the shit since. Went cold turkey I think that is only way!! Hard as hell first week but after that you will be all right. But I would never, I mean never touch a cigarette or cigar again because that would start it right back up for me, that addictive. I really don't think the nicotine is so addictive as everybody said, I get a much bigger buzz off of drinking coffee which I don't do either cause I get the jitters too much from it. I just think it is routine of litting the mfer on fire w/ur lighter and taking the first long cool drag off of it. After I gotta away from it for 6 months I realized what a stupid fukkin' habit I had, and I wonder how all the people at the BIC lighter company are gonna keep their jobs, cause I have no use for a lighter anymore, LMAO!!! :mj07: :mj07: Also jack drive down to Belterra Casino in the fall and stop at a couple of those farms where the got the tobacky hangins in the barn and see just how sick of a product it actually is, pretty gross farming this chit and getting the droppings on u.

GL TO U!!
