Nice job, doggie. You've proved that Democrats sometimes run surpluses and sometimes deficits, and Republicans always run deficits.

:0074

:nono: :nono: :nono:

The government?s surpluses during FY1998-FY2001 reduced debt held by the public by
$448 billion. The debt holdings of government accounts grew by $853 billion over
the same period. The total net change raised total federal debt by $405 billion

Just for those that couldn't figure out what the --

R- stood for on congress who made the bills--does "Contract with America" ring any bells :)

Is comforting knowing--your welfare depends on gov and those family traditions. Your a certified poster child for da Base.

Gotta be a real bummer to have ones life depend on tax and spend--for their hope and change.

Bout time to change that crown air freshner--isn't it?

I am not saying Obama is without fault but the deficit is a snowball running down a mountain started by the Bush policies.

I guess we are the only two who feel this way. I agree with 99.9% of what you post.

Its funny how the bus just went over the cliff, but it takes 2 years to hit the bottom. Now everything is Obamas fault. I wish he could have started in the same position Bush started. If the country was in the same shape it is now I would call him the worst president ever. It seems to me there is very little left to middle class America. You have the extremely wealthy, the working class poor, and the very poor.

Shhez--All the fuzzy math--diversions from truth-political posturing--distortion of drive by media--

eg Prudent people only need the unadulterated #'s without all the distortions to come to conclusion.
Once again:

- The National Debt at the end of FY 2001 was $5.8 trillion.
- The National Debt at the end of FY 2009 was $11.9 trillion.

That's right. Bush doubled the National Debt during his administrations.

Then he left office with the country facing the worst economic recession in 80 years, losing 750,000 jobs a month and with two unfunded wars.

Oh yeah, there's one more thing he left us with...

Republicans claimed victory for having rolled back spending without committing themselves to any new tax revenues.

?The spending cuts should exceed the amount of the debt limit increase, and there should be no taxes as part of this agreement,? said Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio). ?When you look at what we?ve been able to achieve, we?ve met those two standards.?

?It is a decent down payment on the deficit and it is a huge change in the culture of spending,? said House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.). ?We are cutting spending.?

Anyone that feels sorry for Congress who has had to work extra these last few weeks and even on weekends ( because if their own stubborn political ways ) should not.

I just heard this AM they have voted themselves a vacation that will take them through labor day or Sept 5

no wonder this country is going to hell in a handbasket.

what a process we have in America to get things done for the American people.

All they do is keep America from going bankrupt at the last minute, then their off over a month.

wtf

serious pity

Ya know -

rather than saying it was the Dems or the Repubs, we could be smart about it and say it was the....

politicians.

Now all we need to do is fix our brand of politician.

Now all we need to do is fix our brand of politician.

We need a viable third party, one strong enough to get significant numbers elected. I don't know how to do it.

What will be their platform enough voters can agree on?

Where will we find uncorruptible people to elect?

We need a party to which Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich and Ralph Nader and Ross Perot can all belong. A Party Donald Trump and Michelle Bachmann, and Al Sharpton would hate.

Resurrect the Bull Moose party?

We may have to resort to robbing graves and nursing homes - TR, Warren Rudman, Sam Nunn, Bob Gates; John McCain and Oren Hatch before they both went nuts. Colin Powell, if he grew a pair. Harry S. and DDE. LBJ when he was sober. Alan Simpson and John Tester. Adlai Stevenson and JFK on saltpeter. Even Aahhhhnold and Kinky Friedman. And anyone born and bred in Vermont.
