I will never understand the thrill or enjoyment of shooting an unsuspecting animal with a weapon like a coward. But to each their own.

Spoken like a true pussy :jerkit: Some do it for sport, some for food. It helps animal populations to be controlled. And no I am not a hunter.

Classic example of what a pussified society we are becoming

Yes I am a pussy simply because I don't see the enjoyment of shooting animals. Got it. Thanks for backing up your theory too. :0074

Just don't get it.

I just don't understand how one can "hunt for sport".

Fucking disgusting if you ask me.

But hey, if it is legal and the addict enjoys it, then I guess more power to him.

Can't ya enjoy camping without blowing an animals head off:shrug:

I am fine with someone going out and shooting an animal with a rifle. Just don't call that hunting. Use a bow and arrow or if you really want my respect, use a knife.

Either way, have a good time addict. Well try to not muck up your thread.

You take pics too!!!

Love to see em.

So the solution to animal population control is hiding in a tree and blasting some unsuspecting animals head off with a shot gun?

I think the over population of humans should be more of a concern than the over population of animals.

Animals aren't sucking the planet dry of resources and putting countries into massive debts and wars.

Dogs derive from wolves, which last time I checked, are wild animals, so is it okay to go around and blast some dogs head off because you feel the need to play animal population control officer?

I don't hunt but my buddies use my land. The deer population is heavy and many road kills! I love venison and fish too, I wouldn't call it hunting when a rifle is used but what do I know? I don't mind people hunting animals to eat, I don't care for the hide hunting or the killing of animals because they are a predator of animals people like to hunt!

One more idea to this, if hunting was not allowed, it would shatter the hunting world, no licenses bought and no monies used for heard population and animal
Preservation

Oh, and there aren't any hunters out there, "managing the herd". That is the shittiest excuse any of you can use.

The second worst is "hunting for meat". You simply hunt to kill, and show off what you killed. Every guy I know at work who happens to hunt, is jacked up for a week or two before the season starts, yapping about the new shit he bought, or new plot he planted to sucker the deer in, etc.

Then, they all bring in pictures of the big kill. I've never seen a photo of any of their kids.....but I've seen my fill of dead deer.

Ever see the parade on the highway when the hunters come home? Why is the tailgate down on the thruck, with the head of the 8-pointer hanging out? Or the head popping out of the trunk?? The deer will fit just fine in the bed of the truck, or trunk of the car!!! But, everyone has to see what a mighty hunter I am, and what a wonderful buck I slaughtered!!!

Good times.

1. Hunters individually don't hunt to manage the heard. The law allows them to for heard management, if there were only 50 deer, it would be illegal to hunt them.

2. Like I said, I'm not big into hunting and I was just wondering if you live in the city? (are the hunters you know City Slickers) The guys I know who live in the city are more of the braggers. My buddies I know do it for the meat, they don't even want a big buck but I guess they will take it just for the rack.

3. There is a reason why the head is sticking out of the truck and car.. For some dumb reason it was the law, well until this year, they finally eliminated that law. I never understood why that is and I guess I will have to ask. Seemed dumb to me.

When I was in my teens, I used to hunt grouse. Man that is one tasty bird, the best, but just couldn't see the point killing an animal in which I need 5 for a meal. One meal, 5 deaths, just didn't seem right morally.

I won't be in the woods until THUR, low on the senority list at work after the start of the TGD II ( The Great Depression #2, like world war 2 is WWII)

so after all the years of hunting deer, and only takeing one buck, I realize I am not the hunter that my brother is, however he spends many weekends in the tree stand.

We do not use trail cams, we do not bait for deer with a pile of corn on the ground, we do not plant food patches, we do not have a 4 wheeled ATV to get around, we don't put out salt blocks.

Deer Hunting is just like Christmas, it has become over commercialized!

All this technology in the woods, is I believe, adding to the demise of the hunters image.

Deer are wonderful, beautiful anilmals, I have had many opportunities to take a doe, when looking/focused on gettting a buck, one time even had a doe about 18 feet from me, she knew something was wrong with what she was seeing as she kept raising and lowering her head, trying to figure out what I was, if she had have had the benefit of just one of two things, she would have never stayed or even got that close to me.

IF I had moved just an inch or the wind would have been different, she would have gone high tailed it!

I work in an auto repair in a dealership, I am not going to justify hunting by the increased rate of deer/auto collisions, but the trans tech has had several in the last few years. I helped him get sheet metal at a great discount for his Focus this summer, got it fixed and painted in August, guess what hit another about 7-8 weeks ago, totaled it, everybody is ok except the deer.

Done properly with the right crossbow or firearm, the hunting/harvest (I know some think it is slaughtering) of a deer is not the horror show many think it is.

It is the hunters that shoot without reason at any movement, or outta range blasting away at long distance, or taking a shoot with a compound or crossbow without selecting the best possible window of placement that also hampers the image.

Remember the Indians hunted too, and with a long bow, but I like to believe that they were better HUNTERS, because they had to be and had more need for the food and less importance on the trophy.

I have seen ugly, I received a call from a bow hunter in 1981, he had hit a nice buck on a farm that bordered one I was renting, tracked the deer to my 90 acre field of corn and stopped, called my landlord asked permission to continue tracking. She called me, then he called me, being a hunter, I said of course by all means, track the deer, and don't call next time just go.

I never heard back if he found his buck, but when I was harvesting the corn, first week of December, my corn head went empty of the right side of the six rows.

I found his deer and the sight was not good, it was ugly, I called Tom, our game warden, and he came and took care of it, it was out of season then, so I didn't.

I have not stopped hunting, for I watched the overpopulation cycle of raccoons and then skunks take it's course, that is not pretty either, but it did change my approach to hunting.

My brother uses a compound bow and the best arrows he can get, he is very selective and has taken two deer already this year. He takes the time to maintain a skill level with that equipment. I do not have that time nor am I close to the country like he is where he can be in the woods in 10 minutes. I have helped him track deer during gun season, and I am amazed at his ability to do so. It is all about reading the sign.

Best of luck to all myself included but respect and understand your game, our continued pursuit of the sport depends on it more now than ever !

Even though I am against killing deer , this year in Georgia I have almost hit two deer myself while driving in the suburbs.

One was a 6 pointer and I missed him by 150 ft , the deer jumped in front of me and was across the road in two leaps. They really dont seem to stop and look for traffic. Too bad they dont have that sense.

The other time there was two small deer and one darted in front of me and the other put on the brakes when I blew the horn.

Also know two ppl I work with that hit deer in the last two years.

alot of damage if you do hit one.

hard to believe they can survive in the city.

they eat ppls gardens and flowers and really piss off the garden assoc.

My wife has hit 2 deer in the last 14 months.

There are WAY too many running around here and people are getting in accidents all the time.

Not only that, they don't allow rifle hunting here so the population continues to grow.

All the hunters I know, mostly from Maryland, do it for the sport and for the food. I don't eat venison but the people I know love the stuff.

I don't see anything wrong with it at all although I have zero interest, mostly because I don't like the meat and I don't want to haul them out of the woods and clean them.

Hunt away, boys, and have fun out there but be careful. There are a lot of accidents out there because of the irresponsible assholes that go out there drinking and hunting.

I would go to hang with the boys but I would be staying inside playing poker, watching foortball and drinking :toast:
