place is great!

-pull into the quick oil change lane.
-walk in for a quick, no wait haircut
-grab some snacks and a case of Bud.
-oh look, a nice cheap pair of shorts and a tee shirt.
-plenty of open lanes to pay.
-grab a coldcut from subway

and hit the road.

look at all the chit i accomplished in one stop :D

love that place!

Jack I have interview with their CEO in political thread that may be of interest.

Biggest puzzeler with me is the bitch about pay-benefits ect and per CEO

SCOTT: Well, it is the difference between what you say and what people hear, and how well it is broadcast. This world today that you live in, I am not sure that it is newsworthy, the fact that we provide opportunity, or that 11,000 or 12,000 people show up for 300 jobs, or that we promote internally the number of people that we do regardless of their education level, that we save customers money so they can lead a better life.

It's because they underpay their employees and treat suppliers like complete sh*t.
i'm not talking about that side of walmart. i'm talking about 'pet peeve' threads that are posted and usually walmart pops up in the discussions.

people say they hate the store and won't go there because of the typical shopper there and whatnot. but i say BS, we all go there because it's almost a necessary stop because of the convenience.

the side you're talking about, i could give a rats ass (no offense towards you intended). if you don't want to work there, find another job. right?

the suppliers can either sell to them or not, it's their choice too.

i don't get it.

I think most people hate Wal-Mart because you see the absolute bottom of the barrel type of people. You wonder what rock these people crawled out from. The only other place you see such nasty people is at the state fair. Also, because of the trash that goes to WM, toys are always pullled off shelves and crap is in disarray. The bathrooms are nasty (I try to not ever use them), and just trashy all around. That being said, it's great for convenience and cheapness, which is why I go there. I like Target much better (the customer is a distinct cut above Wal-Mart), but WM is closer to work and I run errands during lunch. So, it's not the store so much as the gross people you have to look at. Really, it makes me kind of sad that there are so many people that look so poor (with five kids always tagging along) and just down on their luck. My two cents.

i have always heard that complaint but it's not my experience. it's definitely not like that in my town.

The only other place you see such nasty people is at the state fair

i quit the state fair scene about 30 years ago so don't know about that.

toys are always pullled off shelves and crap is in disarray

i never go into the toy department so that doesn't bother me either.

The bathrooms are nasty

never been to a WM bathroom, i always go at home :)

I like Target much better

i prefer it over WM because it isn't nearly as crowded but they don't have everything WM has and i usually go to WM in the early mornings and it's not crowded at all.

The WM stores in this town are very clean with very helpful and seemingly happy people working there.

all that said :D

I PRETTY MUCH *HATE* ALL STORES!

I'd say if you don't like it don't shop there--as far as pay--most these 1,000's of people putting in application work someone else at that time--would make little sense they are looking for job with less benefits and pay--

The whole issue on why Walmart is in lime light it is they won't unionize--might be why you have all the political hoopla from side that unions give financial support to--ya think.

On bottom of barrel/nasty people shopping Walmart--have been in several in diff places and not seen it--I might suggest those that do move to better neighborhood.:)

my biggest beef with Walmart is I hate crowds--but use Sams exclusively for office supplies bought in bulk.

It does depend on what part of town you are in. The only by my work is completely nasty, whereas the one by my house is much better because of the area.

To me, you keep your end goal in sight and get out of there as quickly as possible!

As for the fair, I absolutely love it. My friends and I go and see how much crap we can eat. We just go eat the food, look at a couple of exhibits, and exit. And no, we are not fat asses, not a one of us.

I can tell you why I hate Wally World.

The typical Wal Mart shopper, saw a lady last time I was there (was in a crunch) with her daughter, both are extremely overweight, their cart includes- Fudge Rounds, Coke, Little Debbies, Potato Chips, Cookies, Cake, etc. To me, it is the epitome of what is wrong with America. I have seen several local businesses go under in my town since Wal Mart came along. They build these gigantic 1 stop shops, then later, desert them and build a bigger 1. Then there are these huge warehouses sitting empty. Every fawking town across this country looks the same to me anymore. Mcdonalds, Wal Mart, Hardees, Home Depot, etc. There is no originality anymore. I use to like going into the local hardware store with my Dad, and people would actually know your name! Jack you should cherish getting your oil changed 1 place, your food another, your hardware someplace else. It's called spreading the wealth. Before you know it, Wal Mart will do everything, and we will all work for them. I personally hate the fukcing place. Hell, you walk in there and there is so much shit you 'need' you can't remember why you are even there.

Pisses me off even thinking about it!

Maybe not, doesn't mean I have to embrace the over homogenization that has become our fat ass, lazy, drive through fast food, convenience store, over build and destroy, unoriginal society.

If I can buy something from a local entrepreneur as opposed to Wal Mart, you bet your ass I am going to.

-plenty of open lanes to pay.

Whoa... we certainly don't shop at the same Wal-Marts. The mistreatment of employees notwithstanding, my biggest beef with Wal-Mart has always been the lack of open lines. I can honestly say that on at least 25 different occassions, I've said to myself while in line, "I'm never coming here again," because of having to wait and wait just to buy a couple items. I pretty much had to go after 11 p.m. for it to be otherwise. But it was always the closest store so I kept going back.

Also, this was the case for four different Wal-Marts in three different states. Thankfully I've been able to avoid Wal-Mart since moving here.

Disagree. If you are a supplier, consider how much business you DON'T get if you avoid Wal-Mart.

Since Wal-Mart has taken nearly all the business in the country you NEED Wal-Mart if you are a supplier, there just isn't enough business everywhere else combined to survive without them.

Having said that, please understand I am all for kissing the ass of my best customers, Wal-Mart takes it to a whole different level, you just wouldn't believe the flaming hoops you have to jump through to get their business on a daily basis.

You really can't imagine.

first of all I agreed with everything agent mentioned. Secondly, Wal-Mart doesn't let employees work 40 hour weeks, thus they don't pay benefits. What they do practice however is counseling 30 hr. per week employees how to collect benefits from the state.

Thus you have one of the richest companies in the world counseling individuals on how to collect benefits that ultimately you, the taxpayer pay. If every other company, making crumbs compared to Wal-Mart can pay their employees benefits, why not Wal-Mart?

It's American snobbery pure and simple. In the lexicon of "Trailer Park Trash" and Mc D's. Not to worry though, the Hiltons, Spears and the Lohans are creating their own.

Snobbery? When you go into a Walmart, it's like you're on the set of Night of the Living Dead. But it ain't no movie. It's real.

Screaming kids running loose. Screaming parents trying to control them, but having no luck at all.

Trying to navigate around that store is like running into a 20 car pile-up on I-95.

Carts flying everywhere, aisles blocked with carts turned every different direction with some catatonic obese woman endlessly staring at the shelf trying to decide which shampoo is a nickle less than the others.

Men in stained tank tops leaning over the meat section scratching their greasy hair trying to remember what their wife told them to get.

Parking lot always a total clusterf*ck.

I have been to 3 or 4 different ones, always under coercion. I would never go into one on my own.

That place is hell on earth. Period.

Lets say your family built a tire business and its been in the family for 100 years. Now Walmart comes into your neighborhood with all their products and wants to sell tires to. They want you out of business so they undercut there price of tires taking a loss knowing full well you can't compete siince they have all these other products to make a profit with. Once you beg mercy and fold up your family business of a hundred years they raise the prices of their tires. Its that simple for me. Plus the fact because they pay their employees such a poor rate while they are raking in billions of dollars we as in all of us pay for a portion of their employess health care while once again they are raking in billions. Welcome to Walmart:com:

I can deal with the type of people its just when they have to pay it becomes a nightmare. some don't have enough money. Some have the dreaded check. Some pay in change. Some kinda smell and the worse is since the line takes forever some want to have a conversation.
