I can't answer this question. It's over and done. We live in a open society where guns are distributed legally and illegally and things like this are going to happen. We are Americans and I say give the people what they want. If you want a gun have at it. I think Americans have to join me and refuse to be shocked by this kind of thing and get ready for the next one. It's part of who we are. We had fake outrage by what Imus said. This week we have fake shock. I have family and friends in law enforcement and none of them are shocked by this. What happened at VT is who we are, it's the best and worst of what we stand for. Me, I refuse to be shocked, I was stunned but not shocked. If you live in Real World America, you are not paying attention if you are shocked. If you are shocked these are your options : go buy a gun to protect yourself, lobby for more gun control, buy an armored suit, or stay home. Most of us will forget this thing day by day and move on until the next one and show our fake shock again. Not Me !

damned if he doesn't

I get out of the way for S....e to go into some lame rant that he could cut and paste from any of a couple thousand of his posts.

I could not agree more.

Like i said either u allow EVERYONE to carry guns , or no guns at all.

You can not have half ass gun control, like someone else said, he knew it was illegal to be on campus with his guns.

Do u think that he thought, I am going to go to school today and shoot my girlfriend and a few classmates. But wait , guns are not permitted on campus,,,,,,,,,,maybe i should rethink this.

Or if some kids had guns on campus, then maybe after the first class was shootup, maybe some student would have got him to minimize the death toll.

At any rate, i hate guns , they are too easy to obtain, ie lets go to Wal mart and get a few , and some ammo. You do not need semi autos or some cooling off period, the guns that they provide can do just as much damage as this kid did.

So shock, NO, remorse, NO, am I sadden, NO, am I outraged, NO. Do I think that any thing RIGHT will come of this , NO.

Just as every other tragedy in US history, it will be sidelined to some other story in 2 weeks, and forgotten.

What did Americans do after 9-11, simply put decals on the back of their SUVs. Ohh i see that you are a patriot , i guess that makes it alright.

How many more of these tragedies are going to occur before the American people stand up against the lobby money NRA, and say that is it. no more guns period.

You see here in Mexico , guns are illegal and only law enforcement and drug lords have them. And yes monthly shoot outs occur. Until.......

the government had seen too many innocent people get shot in the crossfire.

So what happened, the military stepped in and took every gun off the street, including law enforcement, had check points and took all personal guns and even the drug lords guns. EVERY gun they could get.

Guess what......... it has been 4 months now, not one shooting.

Do the math.

I would be really shocked, not "fake shocked" if you are a day under 70 years old. You definitely come off as a crotchety old dude.

seriously,padre.....shouldn`t they be concentrating on fixing that economy?...fixing that corrupt gov`t?....

providing jobs and healthcare for their own peeps?.....

it`s not like mexico is somalia....there are bountiful natural resources....it`s just a very dysfunctional country...

btw...i don`t believe for a second that the drug runners have been disarmed...but,i guess it`s possible,though....with the corrupt police handling security...

Did Rosie really say that on the view ? I missed it. Now that Imus is gone ,will have to turn to that show for mean spirited dialog. The rest of your post is just classic. No response on the 9Billion for the armored humvees, I respect your opinion on things like that, can't wait . All I can say about the knife fights and your clap is : hope you have the biggest knife and a ride to the free clinic. Good luck my brotha, peace out !:com: Stop setting me up like this. The rest of the forum is going to think we are in bed together.:142smilie Did you get your check this month ?

We can go on all day with the problems that exist in Mexico, I tried to stay on topic, and simply point out the gun situation. that is all.

U see this is exactly why nothing will be done about VT shooting.

Americans will stay home and bitch about what happen then forget it in 2 weeks.

Or simply bring up stupid arguments , like hitler, burning books, and economy. And cloud the main issue of guns. Ohh wait and throw in a black racial slur, that should really smoke screen the main point.

You see Mexico may not have the best economy, and have many other issues. But they dont have people going into schools and shooting them up.

Read my bio smart guy, 46 yrs old. The two smartest guys I have had the pleasure to learn from, one was 90 and the other is 80. You should talk to some crotchety old dudes. You may learn something and be right once in a while. All you had to do is look it up. If being a realist is crotchety, outside the box and ahead of the curve, I stand accused.

yeah, fixing the record highs the stock market keep breaking.

Our economy is such bad shape. bla bla bla bla.

bla bla bla IS WHAT YOU POSTED !!! Since 1935 the stock market has gradually risen. the last 6 yrs basically flat. The market going up doesn't signal a good economy for most of America. The market is a good hedge for all of America if you want to invest in the energy & health care sectors and get some of your money back. These record highs are bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla for most of America.

you`re right...i don`t mean to bash mexico...nor do i have the time or inclination to get into a gun control battle....

but,in this country we have a little issue known as the 2nd amendment....it`s part of the constitution.....and that`s a pretty big deal...

anyway,i don`t think that disarming the law abiding citizens of this country is an option...it`s just not realistic....it`s not american...

personally,if you read up on the craziness that went down in australia and south africa(home invasions and such) when they disarmed the citizenry,it might give you a different perspective....

criminals usually need weapons to commit violent crimes, and criminals will get what they need..... we tried prohibition... how well did that keep liquor off the market?....what about the wonderful war on drugs?...doesn't seem to be keeping narcotics out of the hands of drug dealers....

the consequences for selling narcotics can be quite severe yet people are still willing to take the risks......and you think a government prohibition of firearms would make us safer?...

the reality is that as long as there is a demand for something there will also be a supply.....if guns are made illegal, criminals will keep getting them....law abiding citizens will not....

britain banned handguns, and now the violent crime rate (as well as number of 'illegal' weapons) is only rising....

think about this yo-yo capping 2 people on one side of campus..going back to his dorm to re-arm.....then canoodling his way across campus armed to the teeth while the university and the police had no idea where the original shooter was.......

didn`t shut down campus..no bull horns or sirens...no plan....they sent e-mails...and took for granted that the unknown gunman had sauntered off...

i respect the police...and i respect authority....but,when you call the police and call for a pizza at the same time and you aren`t sure which will arive first,i`d rather be self reliant....

it is only suitable and right for a leader to be at the spot of where something of this magnitude occurred. Not to mention the whole country is affected by this.

Yea i know what u mean, I sure as hell may not have a solution for this , but it happened.

and it will again, trust me. I guess that it comes down to society as a whole. I mean i only tried to point out the differences here in Mexico and why it is that they dont have teenagers shooting up schools.

I thought maybe it is gun control, or maybe they respect authority. Or the fact they think that even this is too f@cked up.

But we Americans need to find an answer quick, to why it is that our schools and offices and streets are getting shot up.

And having the Nations Homeland security color elevate to Orange , is not an answer.

and locking , and having armed security on campus and in offices around America is not a solution, either.

We need to find out How, and Why, not try to protect us.

How are they doing what it is they want to do, and why?

I truly do feel for the kids that need to go to school these days, when I went to school the worst that i could expect was a trash canning or maybe a swirly in the ol boys bathroom.

Or maybe some yahoo had a knife, that was about it. But it was the ol fashion i will see you after school, you just wait.

Now it is, put on the trench coat , ammo belts, guns in the waist , and well it is time to go to work.

I think i will start with my stupid girlfriend ,and then make my way to the one teacher (that does not understand me) and if any kids get up, well i will put a few in them. And while I am at it, i will make my way from class to class. Why am I going to wait till after school, I will handle my business right now. And the best part about it, the news and media will be here fast, maybe even before the police, and i will be all over the TV and Internet before i can get the last round off, which I may just use on myself. They will know about me. Loner , my ass. At the end of this day, i will be known , and famous. Where do I start?

I guess I will head down to my local gun shop and register a few firearms. Head over to my Wal-Mart get my ammo and trench coat.

See ya tomorrow at school.

He couldn't make it to New Orleans. Maybe he learned his lesson?
