Why is you walkin' in the streets, yo?

Simple enough question, yet I have to post it to the Mad Jack brethren.


I know some of you think I'm a senile old fukk. Some think I'm just cranky, for the sake of having something to bitch about. Sometimes, you're right, and maybe this is one of those times. You can be the judge, but this subject has been "nerving" me for a little while, so here you go:

For some time now, I've seen certain "young folk" in my little burgh take to walking in the street. By this, I mean just that........walking in the street.

About three to five feet in the road, they will walk parallel with the sidewalk. Mind you, there is nothing wrong with the sidewalk, they just seem to have decided the street is a better place for them to get from "A" to "B".

I want to roll up and ask, "Yo, wassup wiff da shuffle in da slow lane homes?" But, I figure maybe it's part of some youth movement that an old fart like me might not be privy to.

I would kind of like to "pop" one of them with the side mirror as I drive by, and send them ass over tea kettle, as grandma used to say. I would "holla back"........."My mirror don't reach the sidewalk!"

I see it every morning here on my way to work on the 'old hwy' 2 mile stretch to work...the parents of the kids your talking about walking or bouncing there fat asses trying to jog on the wrong side of the rode .... :com: ....2 car width only

While I agree that this is idiotic, does it affect your driving at all? Or just bug you? If it's the former, then I would probably notify some sort of authority about it. But if it's the latter... who cares?

Currently, neither.......(Well, I guess it must lean towards "bug", or I wouldn't be writing this, huh?) I just find it odd, and wonder what would prompt someone to do it? My "guess" is, it has something to do with a fukk the world attitude, but I might be wrong.

I have also noticed this recent phenomenon. I was driving down a Parkway (2 lanes in each direction w/sidewalks 45mph). Just as I'm cresting a hill I see about 4 punks, w/their denims hanging down near knee level, strollin' about 4 feet into the first lane. I wasn't sure if they wanted to get hit or they just wanted to prove "Nobody gonna mess w/us- we own dis joint" I'm pretty sure it was the latter.

This happens constantly aound here. The trashier the neighborhood, the more you see it. I always find it good fun to shift into neutral, rev the engine, throw my hands up and scream. It definitely gets their attention.

My favorite is people who absolutely refuse to walk in the crosswalk. I saw this in Atlanta constantly. People would walk just outside of the crosswalk or even in between the first and second car at a stop light, but the crosswalk would be entirely empty.

Irritates the hell out of me also. It's the height of stupidity to put your life in the hands of some stranger behind the wheel. I've used a plastic baseball bat (whiffle ball bat) on a few of 'em as I've driven by. One good shot to bring 'em to their senses. They got the point.

from the tone of the story,i gather that it ain`t metrosexuals that have taken to the streets....

this is a regular occurrence in my city.....

they seem particularly enamored of crossing the street enmasse when the light is green.....i`m talking 4 lane highway.....literally stopping traffic by walking at a snail`s pace....


i know of toddlers at home dumping more IQ points into their pants every day than this bunch will amass in their entire lives.......

this has been going on in baltimore ever since i can remember.

about 25 years ago these 3 dudes were slowly pimping their way across the street in front of me at a light. the light turned green and they actually slowed down just daring me to do or say something. normally i would have pulled through the light immediately but with these guys i couldn't. about 3 seconds of sitting there a car came FLYING through the red light at about 65mph. the pimping dudes saved my life. i guess it wasn't "my time"
