WI Senate Democrats, refusing to do their jobs and represent their constituents are now finding out that Republicans can also play petty games to get what they want.

Senate Democrats, who have been hiding shamefully in Illinois over the last 2 weeks, are now driving as fast as they can to Wisconsin to the Capitol.

Why?

The WI Republicans, after being extremely patient with the Senate Democrats, are doing what they should have done since day 1: They are stripping out the collective bargaining issues from Walker's budget repair bill and will pass them in a separate vote. Since the collective bargaining issues are not directly budget related, they can be passed separately without a 60% quorum - only a 50% quorum is needed.

It is clear the 14 Democrats overplayed their hand. And now, any hope of negotiating is over. While they may not have gotten much in negotiations - they would have gotten some improvements for unions. Now they get nothing.

WI, like Ohio and Indiana, is now open for business! :00hour

The Senate Just Passed the Bill! :toast:

And the Dems are still driving in from IL..... I hope they had a nice vacation down there, paid by their union pals.....

Finally, fairness for the Wisconsin Taxpayer - maybe one day we can be as good as Ohio, Indiana, and the Federal Government. We aren't there yet, but someday we may be! :toast:

This is just awesome news for the middle class in Wisconsin.. no longer will they beholden to overpaid union workers.

No more overpaying (salary, benefits, etc) for services.... this is great news for 85% of Wisconsinites!

Hopefully, the trend in WI, IN, and OH (ID is next) will spread over the country!

Right behind you
Walker thinks he's being oh-so-cutesy with his nuclear option.

That's what always happens to young, stupid assholes. He doesn't have a clue what a real nuclear option looks like.

He'll be crying like the little bitch he is when he finds his schools shut down and locked out.

Already through the Senate.. now to the Assembly tomorrow. And they can't play the "I am a baby, so I will run away - game".

Done deal. About time.

I'm not worried about the teachers striking. There is such a huge demand for teacher positions (due to high pay, short work year and great benefits) that if they strike, we'll just replace them and be better off.

Heck, my sis-in-law had 30 applicants (4 years ago) for her position. People know that public service, especially teaching, is a gravy train in terms of short work hours, short work year, great full time benefits and salary for a 9 month job.

We'll have no problem filling those spots - and we'll still have to let a bunch go to fill out budget hole even outside of this bill.

Such a great day for the state of Wisconsin!

In playing this hand, Walker's admitted by his own words and deeds that stripping unions of collective bargaining rights has nothing to do with the budget. He's been lying to the citizens of Wisconsin from day one.

This issue is so much bigger than Scott Walker and the state of Wisconsin. The corporate interests and their patsy politicians have declared war on the middle-class in this country and their arrogance will be their downfall.

It's more than a decent living that they get now... AND, it's better than fucking taxpayers out of money to overpay union bosses.....

It's about time we stop DISCRIMINATING against private sector workers!

Wrong again. It has EVERYTHING to do with the budget. How are all the local governments going to deal with the huge cuts in appropriations from the state, if they can't manage their public employee health care costs and pensions?

Are you really that dumb? It is ALL about the outlay that taxpayers are paying for.

FYI - this is PROTECTING the Middle Class, and will be better for 85% of the people in the state... THAT IS protecting the middle class in my book.

Can you please provide one instance of private sector workers getting discriminated against. TIA

I'm an anti-union guy, but you guys are out of your minds. If you had a plan in place to improve something, I'd say have at it. As far as I can tell, the plan is to take shit away and that will make everything better. Great plan, fellas. What could possibly go wrong?

Got it. Breaking the unions is protecting the middle class. Are you this fucking stupid?

As for Walker, this is really the best thing that could have happened. This is what happens when you vote the GOP in. At least the Dems pretend to give a shit and throw the middle class a bone from time to time. The arrogance is incredible.

One thing's for certain... he's made an enemy of 300,000 public workers (and voters) in this state. The majority of those 300,000 public workers have spouses who vote as well. But it goes much deeper than that. This state has a long history of standing up for the middle class worker and working class families. Not only has Walker managed to anger the left, he's angered moderates and even many conservatives who now see these tactics for what they are... an all out attack on the middle-class.

If a gubernatorial election were held tomorrow, Walker would be ousted in a landslide and that's just a mathematical fact.

After Walker gets this through he will be able to give the ultra rich another tax break. Then because of the short fall he can go after the rest of the middle class.

PS: Mags you have got to be the dumbist fuck in Wisconsin if you believe what is being done here will help 85% of the people.

Are you really this ignorant about the state budget process? The unions agreed to the healthcare and pension concessions and those concessions filter down to the county and municipal level. So please explain to me how collective bargaining rights affect the budget when the concessions have already been agreed to... and be specific.

Ok, I'll bite. How does this hurt folks in the private sector? Because we'll pay less in taxes? Because this is the first step in reforming the school system, by rewarding good teachers and firing bad ones? By holding public workers accountable - which can't be done with unions screwing everything up?

To keep from paying bus drivers over $100K a year? To keep from corrections officers from calling in sick, getting paid for their sick day, and then coming in THE SAME DAY to work an overtime shift at time and half, when they were too sick to work their normal shift?

Yea, I can see how this will hurt the 85% that work hard for a living, have to produce for their employer and will get to pay lower taxes.......
