I have a netgear WPNT834 router. I'm not even sure when I bought it, but my son is complaining of lagging on his PS3. I'm assuming if I got a new wireless router the game connectivity will improve.

Any help and/or recommendations would be appreciated.

My original answer was going to be no - That you should try and improve the wireless signal by moving closer to the ps3 or away from obstacles (walls, microwaves and cordless phones)

I looked up the router and it was made in 2005 and they only had wireless b/g back then

A newer wireless n enabled router should help - cisco makes a good router for $60-100 and they are sold at office depot

Later I will post a few

But my answer is now yes - a new router would improve the speed

Thanks, that is what I figured.

My kids, me included  were having the same problem with XBOX Call of Duty. I called Activision or Infinity Ward, I dont remember, and they told me that on the higher levels of the games there is SO much data transfer, you can lag or get kicked if not hard wired.

We were continually getting lagged out of games in upper levels, so I called Comcast and had them run a conncection straight into my XBOX.....

NOT ONE PROBLEM since....
