how many 40 year old people do you know that have NEVER had a job?....she had a car accident at 23,you say?.....

so wtf was she doing from 18-23?....

the whole clan lives in this complex....and theres not enough money between them to get a clunker?....

i got my fiirst car at 27 and i inherited that...i took 2 buses to get to get across town to high school every day ...couldn`t afford to go to the private high school that was right across the street...

i took a bus to load trucks at u.p.s. during the summer and worked in a senior citizens home....

it`s sad....i totally agree....but,if you believe that helping perpetuate this life style is doing this family any favors,i would totally disagree...

I'm sure we can all share our stories about how we got by with the odds stacked against us, but that's why we are successful and pieces of crap like these people are losers.

Bust out a map and you'll see that OH isn't much affected by the "illegals".

They aren't holding out for better positions. They're losers. Employers look at them and do exactly what you or I would do....move on to the next candidate.

As for education and drive: If they had either, we probably wouldn't be talking about them.

Wayne: Don't your examples make my point that a lot of these people are not hirable? There is more to the question of "why don't people go get jobs?" than just laziness. If you held an interview with one of these dimwits, you'd be dying to yel "Next!" by the time they finished your first question.

When I worked at a distribution center here in Columbus, I participated in the Hiring Events leading into our busy season. It was about as brutal a professional work experience you could sit through. They dress like they are trying to say "I don't care". They answer questions as if they practiced making themselves look bad prior to the interview. They just don't know any better. They are on the bootom rung of the social ladder for a reason. They're not bright and they don't know how to cover it up. As long as we don't need everyone in the work force, some of these schleps are going to be left out.

Matt was one said I chained smoked not me.

I smoke USA Gold untra lights--switched to them several years ago in effort to stop (from Marlboro lights)

Smoke from pack to maybe 1 1/2 depending on how long I'm on computer at home.

However about half smoked during day are 3 puffs and put out.

I am only one in my office building that smokes therefore I do not smoke in building out of courtesy to others. From 4am to bout 10:30 in office I will go outside and take bout 3 puffs of cigerette and put it out. Go through 10 to 15 that way.
At home go outside to smoke with exception of when in computer room.

Smoke the most when playing golf--after tee shot generally fire one up--take a couple hits till I get to my ball--then put it out till next hole.

Also never smoke in another persons auto-house-building etc whether permissible or not.

Does that cover all bases?

My guess is that obesity FAR outweighs the overall strain on our healthcare system as compared to smoking. Also, the trend is our friend when it comes to smoking here and is certainly not the case with obesity.

BUT this doesn't really mean much to the original post.

On a side note: I really like NPR. Some of their reporters are too far left for me, but overall I think they provide as unbiased report as anyone (which is not saying a whole lot).
