Of course what Sterling said was stupid....& from what I have heard he has a history of doing & saying stupid things....

But my question is....Under free speech doesn't he have a right to say stupid things?....& people who disagree have the right to not go to his games....

It's sad that someone in this type of position has these type of thoughts but I think it's probably more common than it should be.

I do wonder however if there is more going on here than we know. Why would she record him like this and then let it out to TMZ? Does the league want him out? I read it has been mentioned that the NBA should let Magic's investment group buy them. They tried buying the Lakers but were told no. If you're Magic and you really want a team, why wouldn't you want the Clippers at this point. It's still your city and you would have both your baseball team and bball team in LA. Find a way to get that owner who won't sell out? This is a great way.

I know, I know I'm wearing a tin foil hat but I do think it's possible.

No matter what I think he should be out as owner so however it happens I wouldn't mind.

Wow- he is an asshole- and she kept apologizing for upsetting him and she was in no way at any fault. I woulda punched him out!

she was recording him for later, so she could sell the recordings or get more material things from him, she had to play along  This girl is getting even after he cut her off sounds like to me

there are more recordings, I am sure TMZ and Deadspin are going to have to pony up for those now

This guy is getting exactly what he deserves

He's an Ahole for sure but she's not a peach herself. Just because everyone knows it's his mistress doesn't make her a good girl. She's apologizing because she's a gold digger and doesn't want to lose that free ride. Sorry if I'm not sounding nice but to me she's no better than him.

Pretty sure the concept of "free speech" applies only to the government and law. I don't think the US or California state government is trying to put him in jail for exercising that right. He can legally say whatever the hell he wants.

The powers that be at the NBA,however, will take action for exactly the reason you just alluded to; this could potentially cost them all a bunch of money. They would be foolish to to wait around and see if his actions result in an incremental loss of millions of dollars.

In my viewpoint, 'free-speech' has never meant "say whatever the hell you want, whenever the hell you want" and suffer absolutely no consequences. And life is one never-ending example of that point. You can get fired, dumped, shunned by family, ignored by madjackers, and disrespected by the community at large, for exercising your free speech willy-nilly. And most times, rightfully so.

So long as the government doesn't have the power to imprison or disenfranchise you because of your speech, I am OK with this! :0008

He has every right to say stupid things.

He does not have the right to

Discriminate against employees.

Refuse housing to Hispanics or Blacks.

I am not questioning his right to free speech. I have issues with this guy owning a NBA team and people trying to defend his actions.

Other things also. On my way home from work I was listening to ESPN and Herd talked about how come no other owners other then Jordan and the King's owner have said squat. Also mentioned on the Sports Reporters yesterday. I am curious about this. Second, the NCAAP deserve some heat too for being willing to honor this man TWICE! As long as the check is in the mail, eh? Herd was going to interview someone from the NCAAP but I was home by then and missed it. At least I hope I don't have to see this douche's full page charity ads anymore in the LA Times. I hope.
