Event 42 - $1,000 Seniors No-Limit Hold'em World Championship | Day 1

Seniors' Monday at the Rio

It's one of the traditional days on the WSOP tourney calendar on Monday as Event #42, $1,000 Seniors No-Limit Hold'em World Championship, gets underway. Players must be 50 years or older to participate.

A huge field is expected for this one. Last year's Seniors event drew 1,882 participants, and was taken down by Ernest Bennett, who won $348,423.

This is also known as the slowest day for buffets up and down the strip...

so, how did you do? Play any more tourneys?

The WSOP played like a Full Tilt Turbo (BTW I did get a check from them within 14 days). After 20 minutes of 5 way flops, it turned into a free for all and 6 people got eliminated in the first hour. I only had to show down twice in the first two hours with KK (which was no match for 8-9 sooted) and a nut flush, so I had a lot of success taking small pots with continuation bets. Got to $5,500 at first break and had about $7k when I got cute on the button with 8-5 sooted and was down to $4,500.

Then some huge stacks sat down, one held by

E1E03F10189644CF899B31469E1E8AE9.ashx

and I knew he was good but I didn't think he was $2 MM in winnings good. Didn't know that he was a pro until later, but knew that he was loose and I didn't want to play with him until I had a hand. Got card dead and with ~ $3k left and blinds 200/400 was going to push with any king. Got A-10 hearts and pushed after one limper. Limper showed KK and I was out the door.

Really good experience, though. Saw the Mouth, Freddy Deeb, Justin Bonomo, Huck Seed, Layne Flack and Clonie Gowen and I don't care what Jack says - she's smokin'

WSOP has definitely turned into an annual trip for me.

poker would seem to be a very tough way to
make a living.

Looks like alot of fun though.

I would compare it to riding a roller coaster.

Alot of time when nothing is happening,
topped off with a wild ride straight down.

I will play in that senior tournament maybe in a few years of preparing for it .

PS - TerryRay - nice job reporting on things.

Come on. Is that what she looks like or is that just a bad picture?

If that is what she really looks like now, you would have to think there is a serious drug problem.

prob not looking her best there but a very good chance that its what she looks like most mornings :SIB

nah - one bad picture doesn't make a dog. Looks like she had a rough night.

BTW, my favorite Terryray video is the one where Ctownguy's talking sponsorship and the video ends with you saying

" . . . .so where are the pokernews girls hanging out at ? " :mj07: :mj07: :mj07:

Amanda Leatherman was looking fantastic in person, but she didn't get out near those Buzio's tables. Hope you got a chance to see my next wife.

oh, and 6'5", played with my wife (the current one, not Amanda Leatherman) in some $80 tourneys at Planet Hollywood and Treasure Island. Both had structures with 20 minute levels and

25/50
50/100
100/200
200/400
500/1000
1000/2000
2000/4000
4000/8000
8000/16000

so by the third hour the blinds represented about 10% of the available chips. Got deep in all 3 tourneys, I played, but lost when the lotto poker started. Not really poker at that point. Wife played well, too. Everyone wanted to bully her, but since she calls with middle pair/ any kicker, no one was successful and she put some bad beats on a ton of people. People are less mean to her in person then they are online :mj07:

Then realized that I had done nothing but lose and went looking for a blackjack deck to hit me and found one at the Palms and got a little bit above even with 4 hours left until my red eye sunday morning.

Fun time - I saw more of Vegas this time then any other trip, but never had any time to relax.

Thanks for making an effort to hook up, you degenerate bastard. All I kept saying was "Can't wait to meet BobbyBlueChip" ..."Is BobbyBlueChip gonna meet us later?" ..."Wow, this would be even more fun if BobbyBlueChip was here" ...."I wonder if BobbyBlueChip would be enjoying this lap dance as much as me" ...."Where the f*ck is BobbyBlueChip?" ....."Mother f*cker, no BobbyBlueChip again!" ...."The lack of BobbyBlueChip has ruined my trip." ...."How do you fix a broken heart?"

On that note, I heard that YOU were the one that, and I quote, 'pussed out', and left town well before the trip should have been over because you had to attend some fru-fru party in Santa Barbara.

Just sayin'.

I know - I suck. Vegas without a schedule is horrible for me. I've gone entire trips without seeing the people I went there with.

Sounds like you had a good time.

Pretty funny comment coming from a guy who didn't make the trip AT ALL! ...My itinerary was clearly stated well in advance. I followed all necessary protocol and am free from any liability.;)

bbc, bender and I played that Planet Hollywood tourney a few times. It does get to lottery poker in that second/third hour, otherwise not a bad little tournament.

I gave Bender some of my drink tickets from the Sports book, and he folded them up longwise and used as a card protecter. He put his hat on backwards, chatted it up huge, took forever on decisions, and totally dominated one of the tournaments after I was knocked out. :mj07: Funny as hell (guess u had to be there). He was saying all the cliches; biggest was BULLDOZER when he would shove just like Hevad Khan. :142smilie
