Good call Skanoochies! When is Porter back? Anybody know? If he isn't playing in this game, somebody's going to have to give me something solid to take Oakland. Not it's a rivalry game, or any of that crap. Oakland sucks. Period. Without Porter, their offense is pathetic. Porter is the deciding betting factor in this game.
And for all those out there saying that if it wasn't for Hall the Chiefs would be 3-3... how about this...
Trent Green: 1356 yards, 9 TD's, 6 INT's
Priest Holmes: 563 yards rushing, 257 yards receiving, 5 TD's
Tony Gonzalez: 259 yards receiving, 3 TD's
KC's defense is almost dead last in the run...
but...
They have one of the better pass defenses in the league. They may give up a lot of yards through the air, but when you take into consideration opponent's QB rating against (a much more accurate portrayal of a teams pass defense than just yards/game), they are ranked 9th.
Good teams find ways to win. The Chiefs are 6-0 for a reason: they have the offense to turn a game into a shoot-out. When that happens, their oppenents can't sit back and waste time running the ball, they have to throw to keep up.
Just look at the point totals in their games so far this season...
Week 1: 41
Week 2: 61
Week 3: 68
Week 4: 27
Week 5: 47
Week 6: 74
KC counters with a D that is tough against the pass. Now you factor in field position and coaching and you can see why KC is 6-0 this season. The game that they only scored 17 points in, they held one of the best rushing teams in the NFL to 10 points despite 202 yards on the ground, 115 of which went to the NFL's leading rusher, proving they can play small ball against a club with a good rushing O and a tough defense.
Here's the way I see this game right now...
Oakland doesn't have the secondary nor the defensive line/linebackers to stop a KC offensive attack. KC is going to be able to move the ball and score on this club. KC will also win the coaching battle hands down, as well as the field position battle. So that leaves it to Oakland to keep up a scoring pace with the Chiefs. If, and it's a big if, Porter is back, the Raiders may be able to stretch the field and move the ball through the air. The Raiders don't have the offensive line manpower to take advantage of KC's lack of Run defense, so it's going to be up to Gannon and Co. to score points through the air. If Porter isn't available, that is going to be a very tough task.
Good luck this week and if anybody knows anything about Porter yet, let me know. I'll keep an eye out...
GO CUBS!
