Can someone please tell me how you are going to reduce the availability via stricter control. You want it? How do you do it?

You can't. In theory, in a perfect world it would be great. Someone disturbed enough and determined enough will find a way to get a gun.

Tragedies in a "free" society will always happen - that's part of the cost of having freedom.

Knee-jerk reactions are a response to that.

Taking away guns is not the answer, and can't be achieved, anyway. We all know more laws don't deter crimnals. And, I'd like a fighting chance to defend myself if a rapist/killer were to break into my home.

Since many of these (not all, but many) tragedies seem to be caused by mentally deranged people, I'd focus on getting them off the street. They used to be institutionalized until the ACLU sued and won, thus permitting the flooding of the mentally ill back onto our streets under the guise of civil rights.

........................................................................

i got a idea.

we assiign police to every school in America to walk the halls with full riot gear.

can you imagine the harm that would do to the kids formative minds growing up in America.

its pathetic

We are already there. We have a full-time police officer with a gun on our campus. He has his own office in the building. We also have eight security guards that are stationed at various points. Do I feel secure? For the most part, yes.

Medal detectors at schools would help for visitors, this country throws enough money away to foreign countries and for other bullshit why can't they at least protect the youth? Just a thought

I disagree. Someone has noted earlier that it would take up to several hours for 3500 high schoolers to enter the building.

Arming teachers will do more harm that good. No teacher will have a gun ready to go when an intruder enters their classroom. I am not for or against gun control. Just stating from my perspective.

I don't have any suggestions.

Make it illegal to buy, sell, or own certain weapons. If you get caught with them, you get prosecuted. If you get busted for anything above a traffic ticket, you lose your gun ownership privileges. Dead beat dad? You lose your privilege. Let's start taking guns out of the hands of the people that are bringing our society down.

I don't know why this seems so hard.

Every gun that isn't a hunting rifle or shotgun works for me.

Dead beat dads are just an example. They are irresponsible, and if you are irresponsible, you don't deserve the privilege of owning something that is designed to kill. Make sense, Paco?

Because it is hard. Guess you think there is a simple answer. There is over 1 million conceal and carry permits in Florida alone. So you want the government to confiscate every one of these weapons. You think its simple?

So, we know who owns the guns, where they live, and what type of guns they have, and you are completely baffled?

On the course!
Gary, what you want is not going to happen. The best you can hope for, is what you've had all along...

You're ticket doesn't get drawn in the mass murder lottery.

That's what we have. You can't argue with people who think, "I have to have guns, because people have guns!!!"

You can't argue with people who think, "We have to sacrifice 20 six year olds now and then, to make sure we don't have too many deer running around!!"

On the other side. A guy like this? Probably was hell bent on whatever his 'mission' was. No guns, no problem. He would have likely, still completed his mission.

I have two 6 year old granddaughters and just can't imagine going through what these people have to go through now. Innocent little children. 1st and 2nd grade kids. Holy shit.

Something I read this morning and I forgot the celebrity who said it but I think he's right. The media should just STFU about mentioning the names and posting pictures of the sick fuks that do these things. Giving all this attention on TV to the assholes that commit these crimes sorta makes them a "Criminal Celebrity". Don't mention their names. This guy failed because it's only the 2nd worst mass murder. Who is gonna try to break the record to go down into history?

Now I remember. Morgan Freeman.

What I am saying and you cannot comprehend I guess is that there is no way in hell all the hand guns in the country are going to be confiscated. No solution there. What other simple solution do you have? I am all in for keeping hand guns out of the hands of unstable dead beat dads. That's a good one.

Really good points Kelly, I read this kid had some sort of autism and was probably on anti depressants too

Seems to fit the bill since there have been many other autistic super killers out there.

Hmmm....autistic and/or people in the US on anti depressants...that's only tens of millions of people.

Anyone read that he tried to buy his own gun this week but was unable to? What if he didn't have access to his mother's gun? Could he have gotten a gun elsewhere...yes. But people who are unstable go through manic stages, perhaps him being unable to get a gun somehow causes this not not happen.
