well my vision is not the best but it sure looks animated/cartoonish to me
If you read the Wikipedia article you'll notice the following:
"nimal-rights activists argue that the grindadr?p is not only cruel, but in view of the ample food supply in today's Faroes, completely unnecessary. Additional argumentation is supplied by the Faroese Ministry of Health, which warns against consumption of pilot whale meat, since it has been shown to contain high levels of mercury, PCBs, and environmental poisons.[19] The Faroese Chief medical officers P?l Weihe and H?gni Debes Joensen announced in late 2008 that pilot whale meat and blubber contains too much mercury, PCBs, and DDT derivatives to be safe for human consumption.
This is a commonly known fact, except in countries like Japan, where dolphin consumption is common and the fisheries want to stay in business. They would rather the public be ignorant of the fact that whale meat contains high levels of mercury, and because the dolphins/whales are at the top of the food chain in the ocean, they contain significantly higher levels it, up to 10x a small fish with mercury contamination. Mercury can have serious effects on the nervous system and the growth of children and can cause birth defects in women. It was no small item in the news when it came out a few years ago that whale meat was being served in school lunches in Japan. In these countries like the Faroe Islands and Japan the fisheries main defense of the ongoing slaughter of these animals is "cultural tradition."
This is not like eating beef or chicken people. Please stop comparing the slaughter of whales and dolphins to the consumption of common livestock. Other than the health risks noted above, it is horrifying and cruel the way they go through with these hunts. I don't want to post photos or videos, but suffice it to say that Kick's initial reaction of "disgusting" is quite appropriate in this case.
My view is Swim Faster.... and does it come sashimi?
Here we go again with the eco freaks
If that image is disgusting to you or disturbs you, then you should become a vegetarian.
Now maybe this is part of some over-killing blah blah blah, but just from that one image, there is nothing I see there that seems all that wrong (didn't study it too closely).
Note: the meat and fish we put in our mouths come from dead animals
