I know Martinez is from another planet but you gotta love the line the way Mussina is pitching and the Yankees are playing. I am a Yankees hater (well, disliker anyway) but I love this line.

Am I missing something? Any thoughts?

I told myself after the last game (this past weekend) when Pedro pitches against the Yankees, I will not take him anymore. That play has burned me the past 5 or 6 times as on those days I have always had a winning day, only to be cut back to even or worse because of the rediculously high price on Pedro (and my ever tugging Heart--Pedro is my Favorite Baseball Player of our ERA (no pun intended)--He is one of the few that still play the game to WIN with very little bitchin about anything--another story---but he has won me some serious CAKE over the years).

I am sticking to that tonight due to the fact the Sox simply DO NOT score any runs for Pedro. They are 2nd to last in AL in batting Average, 3rd to last in Runs scored etc..Also, Mussina is in one of those grooves I so often saw out of him on a mediocre Oriole team.

So tonight I am taking a shot on the yankess--allbeit a small shot.
The way to go tonight is with the UNDER...

The Sox bullpen (since Williams will simply not let Pedro finish a game himself)will blow this game tonight. Beck--Schourek--Lowe--El Guapo???? Take your pick. The Yankees are a patient team and make Pedro get his pitch count up so they can face that bullpen, get their 2-3 runs--the lead and bring in Rivera.

So...

Under 7 is THE play tonight
Small value play on the Yankees (the heart still tugs)

i'm taking Pedro ... sure, it doesn't pay much, but i don't see the NYY bats really being that much better.

keep in mind though, lately i can't pick a sock out of a sock drawer :/

Thanks for bringing my ineptness to my attention prospector. I was using the stats from Doug's stat page in the Resource section for the first time (which was good for 10/10/2000)---what an idiot. Time to throw the Huka out???
I am still sticking to my guns nonetheless...

That's the point I raised originally. 1 great pitcher and one out of this world each with good defenses and solid offenses. Why should the Yanks be +180.

Maybe the question will linger til tonight...

Thanks
Bill

also keep in mind in boston the score 19-0 total home runs in favor of the yankees.
this line is way to high, if i wasn't on the down side this week i'd be all over this one, but Pedro is very tough, but if game is tied late yank's win!

Looks like the Soxs are giving Pedroo all the support he will need. He really is from another planet. Even though I am losing he is fun ot watch. really remarkable.

I ca'nt bring myself to bet against pedro. regardless of past performence. That doesn't mean I'm betting with him it just means I can't bet against him.

i think the whole issue here is the 180. i will not bet against him at that price, but will at the 240 level or higher if the conditions are right.

i did not handicap this game, and i would not have played it either, can't justify the small odds against him, and don't lay that kind of wood on anyone. as a matter of fact, this is the type of game i will skip altogether, not wasting time in 'capping it, being out of the parameters of my game selection process. yes, i know the game is over, but that is besides the point.

dr. feelgood put the finger on the issue, expecting a good performance by both pitchers, and making an emphasis on the under.

and since stats are very popular lately, how about high-profile teams as road dogs? my opinion is that they are losing propositions, and it has nothing to do with this game.
