Homedog is exactly right. It's simply the difference between people with their hands out and blaming others for being successful, because they are not, and the millions of examples of Americans who have taken the risk and initiative to improve their lives.

The Obama's message pits people who are successful versus those who are not. The growing pool of underachievers in the country who want to be taken care of will follow that message all the way to $16 trillion in debt.

Perhaps on Labor Day the unions ought to thank the American taxpayer for bailing out their shining example of how unions "work" in the auto industry.
My God you are an ignorant fuck, you think a single union auto worker saw one fucking dime of that money you jackass. Get an education dude because you are the dumbest fuck I have ever seen on this forum. Everything you say is wrong and just plain fucking dumb. I really think you are retarded or at least have a lobotomy. What the fuck do you provide for the economy except a hand out for your disability check you fuck. Stupid fucking assholes like you are everything that is wrong with the uneducated masses. You stupid fuck. Those union workers are the American taxpayers you asshole and pay a hell of a lot higher tax rate than your privileged heroes that put nothing into the economy. You may be the dumbest fucking person on here, and that includes Raymond and I think he may actually be an trained ape because he is that dumb but you.............wow............are you Mormon as well?

You are one dumb fuck, get the fuck out of the thread unless you want to wish everyone a nice holiday, retard.

Hedge,
For fucks sake man, think about that statement for just a moment.

Do people not realize that Union contracts are negotiated and renegotiated all the time. The best example I can think of are professional athletes. While it is very easy to say that Johnny Goodplayer makes too much money and that it's a disgrace that they would strike. When baseball players struck and went to mediation, several team owners were forced to open their financial records due to a legal motion made by the union. The owners took the players union to court in an effort to abrogate or throw out their negotiated labor agreement and once forced to disclose their finances they tried to back out of mediation. They were not allowed to do so and shortly thereafter several improprieties were exposed. The owner of the Angels was paying his sister in excess of 65 million a year as a consultant for instance. Now I know that many people allow themselves to overlook certain things, but the fact of the matter is that the owners also sign those contracts. Owners are also allowed to toy with their finances and actually not even disclose much of it due to antitrust laws and such, while a union's wages are public record. So when an auto company, baseball team owner, or airline agrees to a collective bargaining agreement, they are setting the wage scale themselves. They are paying what they can afford and still make a profit.

What you should be saying is when is enough actually enough? When an oil company make 367 billion dollars in one quarter do you really think that they are struggling to pay union wages? Maybe you should be asking where the egregious profit and price gouging line starts, how much is enough? Keep in mind, small business owners rarely have to use union labor. So when AA filed for bankruptcy, or USAIR, or United, Northwest, Branniff, Eastern, TWA, Pan Am all file for bankruptcy and put hundreds of thousands out of work, do you really think it was because unions were costing them too much? You don't think it could be because they, the owners and board of directors, mismanaged funds, paid themselves bonuses after demanding concessions from the workforce, bought new equipment and bought out competitors at inflated cost? Just because you don't see it on Fox News doesn't mean it isn't true or doesn't exist.

Union Contracts help to set the standard for all industry wages and benefits. Nobody is going to agree to pay wages that they cannot afford or that will cause them to make zero profit. Every owner makes more than their employees, it's how much more that is disgusting.

Hope that helps,
FDC

You democrats amaze me, wtf is wrong with big profits? The owner of the company I work for probably makes 20 times what I make and I am not jealous of him, he worked hard to own the company and I am grateful to have a job. I hope one day to be in his shoes and make disgusting profit. Why does anyone go into business other than to make money:shrug:

Bottom line is you get paid what you are worth. If you don't like what you are getting paid, put yourself on the market and see what you are worth.

What the hell do you think a collective bargaining agreement does? The EMPLOYER AGREES TO PAY A CERTAIN WAGE. He/she is not forced to agree, they don't get beat up. Once agreed the market standard is set? What part of that don't you understand. You can't fix trains, or fly airplanes so why should they be compared to you? What makes you an authority? So you think that when a company declares bankruptcy and an employee of 25 years loses their pension because that company, that signed on the dotted line agreeing to pay that pension, mismanaged the company and now 25 years of pension is gone. That union member even paid into his pension and was full vested and now it is completely gone, yet the CEO that mismanaged the company into bankruptcy resigns and receives more than 365 million dollars in severance, that is okay by you huh? Put yourself on the market? Who do you think sets the market standards? Do you really think that someone is going to pay you one dime more than they absolutely have to? You can be replaced in an instant. What an ignorant statement.

So why do you begrudge the employee for trying to do the exact same fucking thing? They are trying to make as much money as possible and if the owner is so fucking rich, he should pay his employees accordingly.
The fact that CEO to employee wage comparisons are thirty times higher here than in any other country in the world should tell you something about US greed.

Also, by your argument, if you are rich you should try to make as much money as totally possible regardless of the affect it has on the workforce so what do you Republicans think, that they will turn around and spend some money and put it into the economy. Yea Mitt and his Cayman bank account are all over that.

The thread is about a holiday called labor day, leave the bullshit out of it. If you want to argue politics go into that forum.

#1) Skulnumb, I wan't even refering to a politician's wife. Sorry, bad joke.
#2) If our country's CEOs on average made 20-1 then it would not be so bad but the average as a whole is alot worse then that. Someone who gets a golden parachute for 30 million or so is much more obscene then someone who makes a million a year to your 50,000 a year. Not seeing the forest from the trees Hedgy.

You got a break. Shut the fuck up already. If it wasn't for your family you would be making $10 an hour at Burger King. You can't even spell and you have absolutely no critical thinking skills. If it wasn't for your family you would have shit. You should be kissing their ass once and hour. :mj07: :mj07: :mj07: :mj07: :mj07: :mj07: :mj07: :mj07: :mj07:

it's hard to chalk underployed up to a spelling error

it would be funny if he talked about the underployment rate in other posts

indeed. usually I dont pay much mind to his fat fingers hitting a wrong key and adding a letter here and there or mistakenly hitting another key instead of the one he was trying to mash.

I dont even pay attention to his complete obliviousness to the differences between words like there, their, they're or your and you're.

but underployed?

for some reason, whenever I read his posts they are read in my head by a caveman....or someone who pushes his car with his feet.

I think the best part is that every day he has to wake up and know that he has a black democrat president. I cant wait till Obama gets another 4 years. maybe his concrete brain will explode.
